Chapter 20.1
Seemed like forever that we had to witness bodies upon bodies burn to ask but it was for our safety. And they would not back down. I walked amongst the ruins towards Emily, as she was tending to her dragons and saw she looked at everything in disgust of the scene. I could feel her, this was to much and the blood on us was to evident that we couldn’t leave room for mercy. I sighed and turn. Brown patches from the fires will haunt me. I kneel and spready my fingers through some clear grass.
Grow I command, and soon like before as if it never existed green grass grew showing a new life. Adrenaline I realized was wearing off on me.
“I don’t understand how they could’ve know we were here,” Emily voice quiet almost asking herself the question.
I stroke my head and about speak I cry out in pain. Feet rush to me as I crumple to knees towards the grass. Hissing at the pain in my side, my goes there clunching it. Feeling it out clarify knowing what it was as my hand felt warm sickly substance and to confirm my showed dark blood and it was hovering in below my sight.
“How?”
Someone as in Wolf dropped to my side already taking me into his arms cradling me as trying to make the pain go away.
“Someone must have had the immortal blade…and stabbed you during the battle.” Wolf speaks, studying me further to see if that the truly the only injury
I replayed the battle in my head, I really did not know anyone getting that close to me, yet I was in the heat of the battle, so I may have been unaware and also adrenaline was flowing through me. My second thought was who had access to the Immortal dagger?
I grit my teeth clutching onto Wolf, “How I didn’t feel anything,” I protest.
“You were in the zone, fighting…besides its not bad…” he looks to Emily and I assume tell her to get the dragons ready, she nods rushing, getting everything ready for flight. He scoops me up like a feather carrying me to our dragon, “but we should still get you to Pacific Rim for aid. Luckily we can somewhat temporary fix you up here” he finishes and kisses me on the forehead.
“Don’t worry, I got you” he speaks his native language.
We soon are in the sky faster than I expected. Emily’s dragons still surprise me with their speed. My side is patched up yet it still painful throbs with agony but I try not to focus on that and let the wind passing by my ears drone the world out and I continuously soak into Wolf as he cradles me between his arms supporting me, making sure I don’t fall of consciousness while continuing to whisper got things either calming me down or himself down.
I was not sure when we arrived but a pounding of claws hitting concrete jolted me from a sleep or unconsciousness. Soon someone comes for us and I find myself being lowers onto bed with people shouting, throwing orders around. From a bed to a shuttle and now I hear whoosh of air. Wolf I hope is till holding onto my hand.
“Besides its not bad” I laugh smile at his words. I feel he was telling himself that rather to keep him calm. As I lay back in conscious in and out again.
Next bit I am not even sure what happens as stinging makes me yelp and something cool pressed again my skin to repeated words in my hear, I barely can decipher what they are. I am not sure what is happening. People are blurry images and I give up closing my eyes to rest. I am not dying I know that for sure as the chatter and now shouting are still loud. But soon it cease and another pain comes, similar to something reminding me of my children. I scream and it all goes away to cool lips pressing softly against my temple.
“You did it” Wolf speaks his native language, and I find myself smiling to something. I guess I will find out once I wake up, as sleep overcomes me around the world fades out.
Distance voices that I recognized as murmurs woke me from a sleep. Though I kept my eyes close not having the energy to actually open them besides I wanted to eavesdrop on the conversation. Hopefully they would not find me out.
“Are you absolutely…” Wolf voice sounded, “How is it even possible?” he changes his wording, trying to believe something that already taken place.
A sigh of frustration, “Yes Wolf, it is true, and I don’t know why ou are upset, she is fine, she wasn’t sure.”
He grunts and I do my best to hold my composure, “but why was the pregnancy hidden, we had no idea.”
“I cannot answer that.” I recognized Madam voice, but felt she was lying. “Anyway she will wake soon and you may give the news, I will bring Junior and Alice by later,” she says and I hear her walk away closing a door behind her while Wolf I hear sits down beside my bed. I take this opportunity to open my eyes and meet green-golden eyes.
“You heard all that didn’t you” he is not questioning, but affirming.
I lay there, “Or I could’ve just woken up” I counter him.
He just gives me a look, knowing me to well, I shift easing the pain in my muscles. But stop as I see a baby wrapped in blankets cradled in his arms.
Wolf noticed my surprised and scoots the chair closer.
“Want me to explain?” he asks, already knowing the answer.
I nod.
He swallows, looks down at the baby indicating if I want to hold it. “She should see her mother” again I nod and take the child into my arms. Wolf beings.
“You were stabbed, you knew that much, and that what we were all aware of till we brought you to pacific Rim hospital and realized you wound and that you were carrying a child. And where you were stabbed was near the child. Causing you to give birth, because apparently you were ready to pop in a week.”
I lot of words float in the air and my gaze went to the outside of the windows confirming we were in Pacific Rim, almost same room I woke up in when rescued from Kieran. I gazed back down at my daughter as Wolf continued on.
“We had no idea, and apparently neither did you, it was if your pregnancy was meant to be hidden for some reason.”
I turn my head to meet his gaze, “Why” my voice a soft whisper. Wolf shrugs.
“That is the question that hangs no.”
I grim a smile, but it softens as I gaze down back to our little girl, again more questions than answers, but right now I wanted this moment.
“Have you chosen a name?” I asked, a bit worried though.
“No,” I looked at him somehow surprised, he smiled leaning forward resting his elbows o on the bed. The sunlight capture inside the room making him look god like, “I was waiting for you.”
I smiled at him and looked back to her, “Well she certainty a surprise…what about the name Elektra?” I turned my attention back to him and he smiled.
“Beautiful name” he replies.
And we bring our full attention to the little girl in my arms. Who has brunette hair, red eye in right, left in green with pale skin.
I was not long before Madam brought Junior and Alice to see their new little sister. At first, I was scared, but instantly relaxed when they began to pour their love over the new child. Alice made even a little joke about how she guess she would have to let go of being the youngest. We all laughed and continued to enjoy our family little moment.
Thought my attention caught Madam in the corner, and it almost seemed she was in pain rather than happy. She knew something and I felt I would not want to hear it.
