Chapter 20
I took a few more moment to assess where my surroundings were. Coming to the conclusion that I was near the cave, well on top of it where I had left the others. But another question started to form in my head. Was I in another world where everything was oblivion and there was no up or down? At the point I am not sure as I looked around me and saw some lazy afternoon sun in the sky, with a gentle wind breeze with waves crashing down below.
Another realization came a moment to think about myself as I felt my strength or I have a new sense of life in me. As if I knew become new a person. Someone that has infinite power.
My gaze searches and finds the rocky path I ran to it stopping and seeing down, and there was no one. In confusion I ran to the edge of the cliff looking out to the new calm sea.
“Wolf!” I shout, wondering at all if he can hear me.
A faint voce carried by the wind, “Asema?”
Confused I look everywhere to see if I can find him, “where are you?” he shouts again.
“Somewhere top of the cliff.”
Silence from him, as if being drowned out by nature itself.
“Wolf?” it came out like a whisper. For some reason I began to imagine where he was, then a mirror looking portal stood before. I could see myself, a reflection of me. I looked the same but different was I could feel power pulsing through me. The image changed, shimmering like ripples of water now displaying Wolf, Damon and Emily. Where was Thuse? Before I could think my voice come out.
“Wolf?” I repeated.
His head shot to me as he gave a bewildered face. Wolf then started towards me, peddles sending crunching noise under him and soon enough he passed through the portal and arms wrapped around me twirling me around as if though the air followed by him. He leaned away taking my face in his hands feeling the heat from him.
“How did you make a portal?” he questions looking back the shriveling portal as it disappeared like silent whisper.
“I guess new power give the ability” I say knowing well enough that I could create portable in the first place. Even Wolf knows the full truth but smiles anyways closing me into another hug. His touch comforts me and familiar pine scent fills my nostrils, causing my body to settle as I did realize my body was shaking. Even though I felt steady. He whispers hushes in my ear.
“What happened Asema?” Emily has to break the moment.
I huffed irritation but I answered turning in Wolf arms to look at her. “The balance been restored.” I smile hearing the words out loud, giving air inside my lungs. I studied everyone individually, as they all somehow seemed different to me. Damon and Emily almost shine like dragon scales, having power shimmer of them. Wolf took looked different; I could practically feel his Alpha power vibrate from him. But Thuse.
“Where is Thuse?” I question.
Emily and Damon look at one another, “He flew back, with my permission to give message to the ancient kingdoms, said it was important…so I allowed him.”
Damon bobbed his head, “Continue.”
I continued on, “I walked through the cave and I am still not sure if I want to another worlds or if I was here in another domain.” I took a breath, as my heartbeat steadied, “It is as if confirming I was to help, I apparently a missing link to this power.”
Wolf narrowed his eyes at me, “okay I get that, but I guess that explains why I couldn’t feel you, but now I can, but it as if something new about you, you are stronger.” He was right and I could wrap my head around it
“Do you remember us saying the murders connected to the unbalance?” I question, enveloping myself into his arms. He hesitantly accepted.
“Well first off I was somewhere else in another world of some sort, which is why you feel me, now I am here standing here” knowing he was having a hard time accepting this. “Will you answer my question?”
He looked away biting the inside of his cheek and slowly nodded in confirming what we all remembered,
“Someone or something form the realm come in and broke something, I am not sure or what caused the unbalance. And in return created something, such as me specifically to fix the it. In a way to restore order. And I feel reason why it is the murders because they sent messages from two kingdoms and they are closely related to Equitem Dracon. Almost mocking them.”
I took a moment to allowed Wolf and the others to process every word I just spoke. Processing the info, I do not think any one wants to realize it.
“I know it creates more question then answers but least there is balance/”
Wolf gazed at me with his bright green eyes, the green grass making them brighter.
“ I guess this means another challenge awaits,” Damon spoke but more likely to himself.
“So you next challenge will be us.” It was mans voice from afar.
All us of twirl around sucking in air that only escaped as a gasp. I felt my own eyes creating a illusion, as standing before us we saw hundreds almost upon thousand of red immortals standing before the four of us.
A moment I felt frozen in time. My bones went cold.
Wolf was the first the speak.
“How are you standing in the light?”
The man sneered a smile, “Our secrets will be kept to our master of higher power.”
The I fond my voice hands launched back towards Wolf, wrapping around his arm, “what higher power? The red queen is weak and darkness…” my voice trailed with doubt in it, remembering what the voice said to me.
Light cannot destroy the darkness
Chuckles and laughter amongst the reds, a chill down my spine.
“Charge” was all I could hear next to thunderous feet pounding on the ground coming for us.
I heard Emily whirl around with Damon, I presume towards the dragons. I didn’t panic as I knew they would help.
In time like these, I didn’t know how to explain it, either my power slowed or things or life slowed around me, or went by to fast. As my brain tried keeping up. Whatever it was my muscles and fast instinct flowed effortless as I began slaying down every immortal as if they easy slash at like water. With only outcome the wreaking scent of foulness smell and warm blood sprayed onto my skin.
I jumped in the air like wings were attached to my back avoiding another slaughter of attacks that were meant to dog pile me. I filled my lungs with whatever refreshing air I could ind. Then from the already pungent smell that rose around me. Flipping back extending my legs ready to land on my feet and already clashing of swords with another beating with now multiples resulting in pounding of vibrations from any weapons.
I gasped a escaped from the immortals as pain welcomed them to death and would flop away now as lifeless limps. Another blade come towards my head trying to catch me off guard but I cartwheeled with no hands with my legs flinging into the air and swung reaching enough to chop off my attacks arms and hear the painful screams.
A painful realization came, unless Emily taking a snooze with her dragons, Wolf and I couldn’t fight alone, especially with this many reds. Every hero may have the upper power to their enemies, but even then there is so much we can take But I couldn’t stop as I had to continue slashing away, even as fatigue would be coming soon to weigh me down.
But a voice came from the distance, “Asema do what you can!” Damon voice rang, I turned to him watching for split second seeing him by Wolf as they slashed together and helped one another defend off red immortals, looking like trained Kadea warriors.
“Took you long enough, stop for a nap?” I shouted, returning to my fight, knowing his presence brought joy and hop, as well some relief.
“Blame” he beat away a few reds, as I could hear his blade swipe the enemy, “Blame the dragons, apparently” twisting on his feet causing the dirt and grass to come up, “they have sass.”
I wanted to laugh but now not a good time.
A screech from above, that brought my attention as well the others up to the blue sky only to see two dark silhouettes with bat wings soar up high. Then dove down with Emily leading the pact and allowed them to burn with fiery fire, causing the immortals to screech and ran down to lifeless corpses. I smiled but only for a second as I had to duck at another blow, and swipe the feet slashing the head off.
An idea I had before ran through my head and I think Emily already knew what I was thinking. She lowered herself on the dragon towards enough I could jump off the ground and was caught by a clawed hand of the dragon.
Soon my hair whipped around my face along with my stubborn golden locks. Air filled through my nostrils and I sheafed my sword and brought out my bow and arrow and began shooting, plummeting arrows into reds, and one by one they fell joined by fury fire of the dragons. In a few a moments later I was released flipping and landing gracefully to a elegant landing on my feet, only to add a swirl to slice down a few more reds on attack. The blood I bet was smeared on my face. AS I felt the hot liquid rid down my face. No time to complain.
My arrows, unlimited but my energy not. I needed to use the last ounce of energy for my powers.
I dipped my hands forward blasting back now unconscious Immortals to whipping around waves of drowning to gurgling water that were screaming. To now slicing and darting out free, causing red to scream as if the dragons breathed fire on them.
The reds lessened but did not back down and I was not sure how much longer we could last. Time to think fast as it was only energy I had left. I prepared myself and knew I would hear something from the others soon. Speaking of him, reminded me that I needed to question him about a few things. But I brushed the though back and slammed my hands onto the grass, and vines, roots along with branches sprouted from the ground snapping around reds containing them. Dropping down as some did not have good balance and other screamed into the dirt because of not being able to move.
Soon I heard the fighting cease and now just shouting and screaming replaced the now quiet surroundings.
“You couldn’t have done that before?” Emily screamed from above, with now landing the dragons near the cliff.
I didn’t reply, as I surveyed the field and saw Damon and Wolf look around and soon found me staring at them. We were all breathless but grateful that I calmed the fighting.
The scene I looked away and breathed.
“Fire” I whispered and blazes upon lazes burst from the ground.
