Unknown Magic (3)

Chapter 22

Wolf and I just sat there processing what I just told him, as I still couldn’t believe the words myself. Our daughter ripped away from us, least we give courteous time to spend rest of the summer with her. But still it made no sense and was not fair.

Wolf sat on the ouch head in his hands, elbows resting on his knees looked as if he was crying. I stood there slightly pacing not wanting to stay still.

Repeat the words’ he thought knowing the two children up stairs would be listening, I sigh punching my nose hand on my hip, ’she wants to hide Elektra in the warrior academy, help her train alongside other warriors who are growing up, she believes that in the future this will somehow protect her,’

I slow down a bit and cross my arms, more so for a comfort than rage.

Wolf shakes his head, ’I don’t see how that will help, we can teach her how to fight here,’

I want to cry as already beads of tears start to form in my eyes, “Yes,” I speak,” we could but we have no choice apparently, she is taking her without us letting have a say, no matter how much I fought,”

Wolf stares up at me, sad eyes, the sun that flows through the window makes the his iris more golden then green, I take another breathe.

She says it is because of the darkness, it is for her protection…’ I take a silent pause, ’he is dead’ I try to convince myself.

Wolf stands and looms over me taking my hands to his chest.

We can take the pack and hide from all of this, hide from people, our own governments and royals, our own people,’ he thinks and I can see the hope in his eyes. And for a moment the words almost sound to good to be true. Serve no one, live freely, we make up own laws, stay hidden not being questioned anymore. Even though we already somewhat live that way.

I smile at the idea, but it’s a dream, I leaned forward into him.

'It’s a dream and slowly we will always be found, we can’t run away from our challenges, we must face them… but together.’

Wolf gives sad eyes, ’I guess you are right, there are at times no loopholes in the way we live.’

I nod sadly.

The week passes by slowly yet fast as if we were holding onto something everyday for something and it always slips between our grasp. Our routine never ceases but more questions come into play. Since I was offered a teaching job, what would that mean for our children and would it bring disturbance to the pack. We didn’t ask as we did not want those answers. But me reaching combat training had some light to it otherwise teaching powers seemed actually fun. Wolf even had to pipe in during our discussion that he believed I could teach some good fighting skills whether I believed it or no. But since then our week was coming to an end.

“You can give a lot of benefit to Immortals, knowing how to control most of those powers. A learning curve for you and the students.”

I pondered his words and smiled, I guess fighting and using powers had some benefit to it. But still it did not hide the fast Elektra would still be separated from us. At those moments Wolf running away plans doesn’t seem as bad at all. Except I remind myself, we cannot escape the threats that come to us. We have course from that had to tell Junior and Alice what is to come and they even cried and questioned why. Holding them trying to sooth them, calming them don only did nothing but get them angrier to the point where they ran off with Elektra but didn’t get far as they were still learning how to look after a child.

We had found them by the sea in the evening with a crying Eletkra and disturb pack processing our ugly situation. This whole thing was a mess. Been a mess since the day I killed Kieran and battles from spoiled brats raging at us.

I huffed a sigh and silently cried.

One night I found myself awake again and walking through the night to the live sea that seemed to be bustling louder yet was quiet when waves crept onto each other, and reaching up the shore live just barely touching where I found myself sitting against the decent temperature rocks and sand, my feet dung into the sand and I splayed my arms out supporting me behind as I cast my gaze up to another oddly cloudless night with twinkling stars.

I found myself talking to the sky, possibly the goddess Kadea. If she ever listens.

“Everything is getting or has become messed up” I took a breath knowing I will be fighting the tears, “I thought everything would be better once I slayed him, light would come and I could live a happy life no worries and no fear.”

I laugh now at those words, “Except it has been the opposite rather, reds are attacking out of anger, the red queen has shut you out and still holding onto some power. I am not even sure what about or what it is, and now people are being murdered and somehow that relates to me being part of the elements?” I shake my head at myself, “now I will be but not quite separated from my daughter because of fear that looms over the horizon? Obviously Brock… I hate to say it was right, I should have never killed Kieran, seems whatever he has created has only grown.”

I stay silent and continue to listen the waves crashing up onto the shore with the distance sounds of the harbour quietly filling some silence.

I lean my knees up to my chest gaining warmth that I did not need.

“why does she want Elektra to train, what she is does not want to train in the first and hates us later for it?” I ask.

“I have been asking that myself since you have told me,” Wolf voice comes, I could hear his feet stomping over the rocks and he grunts setting himself down beside me. Yet kept space.

“My mother staying at the house, she informed me that you were out here,” his voice carries differently through the night sky.

I leaned towards him but still there is space, “ I feel we losing a battle we have never even joined.”

Wolf nods.

“So to ask the question again, Madam wants Elektra to train because there is a darkness that looms over threatening her?”

All I could reply was a nod, process those words myself.

“I don’t understand how her life could be in danger, there must have been something that the Mentor prophets saw that caused this much chaos for our family.”

That struck me, I always forget that Madam is Mentor, “Wait” I turn to him, “You don’t think she say something do you?”

Wolf turned his gaze to me eyebrows narrowed, he may been realizing the some thing as I.

“But she is a mother Mentor, they don’t see the future…or do they?” he hangs the question in the air.

Then something occurs to me shifting in my sitting position as the water almost comes and reaches me. “what if she did see something, it sacred her and she sees that this is the only way she can protect the family.”

Wheels in my head begins thinking off all the scenarios that could occur.

“Well, she did a terrible way of letting us know, splitting up the family creating anger, and chaos for the whole pack.” Wolf speaks with irritation.

“I agree, but maybe for some future this is the best way to go.”

Wolf stares at me as if I had gone mad, “You truly believe this is the way to go?” I let the question linger in the air, debating if I am doing the right thing.

“Yes at the moment, but may be different later, “ I let the words come off my tongue, somehow already regretting them.

He stares at me long and nods, “If that is what you believe then I stand by you, with the decision.”

Comforting.

A pounding on the door echoed through the house, waking up Wolf and I up as well I assume the kids. It did not help that shouting partnered with it and later confirming my thoughts, Elektra began wailing out her cries throughout the house.

“Don’t worry, I got her” Wolf pasts me on the leg shifting the bed to get out, “You answer the door.”

I nod sheepy and put on some clothes and made my way down to the door, and now there stood before me a unknown warrior who did at all look like he was up for chatting.

“Are you Asema Darksky?” he slurs his words together.

I nod, “What is this about?”

His focus shifts to behind me, I now assume Wolf stands there calming down a crying Elektra, then his focus quickly slides back to me.

“We received words of another murder has happened, would like you and your husband to come and please inspect it.” He already moving down the porch expecting us to follow till he realizes we are not and stops at the last step. “Ma’am?”

I gave him a stare, “I am sorry but as you can see, we have children and why do you need me? Doesn’t Captain Thuse take care of those things?” just mentioning him makes me wonder where he is as we not heard from him in a few days.

The warrior hold a grim face, “at the moment, we are unaware of Captain Thuse whereabouts and since you are next to the investigation of these crimes you have been requested.”

I stare at him with a million questions coming to my mind.

Thuse has disappeared? Has he been gone since our fight in the center realm? What was going on?

“Please Ma’am,” the warrior pleaded breaking my focus. I looked back at Wolf who only nodded and began shouting for Junior and Alice.

We stopped them off at Accailia and Atreyu, letting them know we would be ack. And began letting the warrior lead us to the portable in the forest.

“Where is the murder?” I asked as we stop at the portable.

He looks between Wolf and I as he was scared to even tell us. “The place us under water in a place called dragons lake, in the country of Equitem Draco but we have not notified them because we are not sure if it is another murder or another one of their children.”

Understandable.

“Leas the way then.”

And he did, by bringing us to a dragged landscape that mat mountains upon mountains drag out the scene. It looked beautiful though also looked deadly. Thinking back to Emily’s family I never truly met her parents but only her siblings. I don’t know if I even will meet them, I don’t plan on it.

Other warriors arrived by portal seemingly giving the impression that this body was recently discovered and they wanted me first on the scene. WE ere lead to a lake that expanded far out than I could see giving the illusion of a sea. The area around it had beautiful mountains of grey rock decorated by green vegetation and red, purple to blue flowers. The scene was alive with life yet others parts look as if it it was dead.

“Interesting landscape.”

No one answered but the warriors gestured me into a boat and we began to set forth out into the open waters. Just like old times the water would occasionally spray me across the face. I took it in a joyful thing unsure how the next scene would hold out.

The boat began to slow and I stopped everyone as they began to put on their wet suits and objects to help them breath.

“Wait how did you know about his body in the first place, as you say it underwater?”

They look at one another, “we got a tip so we come to check it and behold you will see.” They continued to place their stuff on. While I looked at Wolf.

I will brings us down with my powers

He nods understanding and we hold hands and dip into the water while a air and water bubble I created forms around us and motion it down below as already I see the object swaying in the distance below. The water around was blue abyss almost giving me flash back to the portal travel I do when… I think about that, when have I travelled in a dark blue abyss? I push that back and command my powers to take us down to where I see rocks some coral and dark sand, letting the water sway smoothly around, as the current moves below.

Getting closer I see a blonde dressed dark clothing rags making the dress look misty around her as if she was alive. Soon I realize she is was bound to something. Her wrist tethered as well her ankles allowing her to stand up right. And that is what I pause as we are now the same level as the floating girl. There is another body. A mal with dark brunette hair also wearing black. Hs body tried to a anchor and hands tethered together bounding him to the girl. They both sway light around from the subtle current.

I stare frozen at each of them.

“Two bodies, this time” Wolf speaks, his voice some watch echoes in our bubble, as I believer he is thinking out loud.

I do not reply but just study the scene before me. I already knew the answer to what this message was conveying and it only made me doubt more. Another message.

“Asema, Look,” Wolf points to something at the base of the anchor, I peer down and command our transport to move. Now below the scene I take the object a bottle as ironic as it is and slide it into my hand. I did not want to read it, not now.

“I had enough of this scene” I say and bring us back up to the surrounding above, breaking the water. And grateful I was able to reach the surface this time, being able to breath.

WE climb into the boat with only bit dampness in our clothes and I stare out at the horizon seeing a black line that indicates land telling me I am staring at the other end at the lake.

“What does the note say?” Wolf asks.

I slip it out and feel the dark glass screaming against my skin. Causing me to squeeze my hand and accidently breaking the glass.

Wolf reaches forward brushing the glass away, knowing I won’t get damages, “easy Asema,” Wolf mutters as my skin is now already healing.

I began to unfold the paper and read, chills down my spine.

Till we meet again, I am happy you figure out.

My clues, I guess you are all not useless but we both know how you gave me power

Till we meet again

Just a reminder that you are bound to me

But you already guessed that once you seen what I displayed for you.

Till we meet again.

I give the note to Wolf who reads but instantly has a horror face.

“Does this mean?” Wolf trails of not wanting to say the words. But I finished for him.

“It means that nothing, the battles, the murders, they will not stop and it also means that dark force is coming and we need to prepare.” I bring my eyes to him. “We need to let Emily and her family know, they will never be safe, not as long as their crown that wants to be controlled.”

Wolf speaks understanding, “this is just the beginning.”
