Before Noelle could answer, Hendrix's phone rang. She glanced at the screen and caught the caller's name - Erwin.
Hendrix stared at the name for a second before shifting his gaze to Noelle. Then, without another word, he turned and answered the call.
Whatever was said on the other end made his brows knit together almost instantly. He turned back to look at Noelle again.
"Is that so?" he replied. "And then? Alright. I understand."
With that, he ended the call abruptly.
"Was that Erwin calling you just now?" he asked her.
"Yeah."
"When did the two of you get so close?"
Noelle raised an eyebrow. "Just one phone call, and we're 'close' now?"
"He told me he's flying into Coppersville tomorrow," Hendrix replied, his frown deepening. "Yet, the first person he informed wasn't me but you instead. If that doesn't count as close, what does?"
Noelle fell silent.
Hendrix clenched his teeth, but in the end, he forced his emotions down and said, "Don't let him fool you. He might look put-together, but he's ruthless. And you think he's single? Not even close. That guy has women all over the world.
"Every time he's at a party, he's the wildest one there. Have you forgotten? Last time, he even took you away without a word. You really shouldn't get too close to someone like that."
Hendrix had originally just wanted to give Noelle a simple warning. Yet, as he spoke, he somehow ended up badmouthing his friend at length.
The very behavior he used to despise the most-now, he executed it with effortless ease.
When he finally finished, Noelle merely flanked at him and let out a soft "okay".
Her calm reaction made his heart sink even further.
"Don't worry," Noelle added. "I won't meet him alone. And besides, you're his friend. You should know better than anyone that he's only interested in me because of my connection to you. If we were just strangers, even if I stood right in front of him and waved, he wouldn't spare me a second glance." Hendrix didn't argue with Noelle on that point.
She, on the other hand, didn't bother with him any further and simply lowered her head to continue eating.
Even though she had promised him, Hendrix still felt worried.
The next day, when Hendrix finally saw Erwin, he immediately told him, "Stay away from the people around me.'
Erwin immediately caught on and smirked. "What's this? Did Noelle complain to you about me?" Hendrix remained expressionless.

"I just wanted to be friends with her. No need to be so tense is there?" Erwin teased.
"You know exactly what you're thinking of."
Erwin clicked his tongue. "Hendrix, you're no fun at all. Besides, you're so protective of her, but she might not even want that."
Hendrix came to an abrupt halt and turned to look at Erwin
Erwin chuckled and said, "The real reason you're so on edge is because you don't trust her, do you? You know it, don't you? That she's going to betray you."
The moment Erwin's words fell, Hendrix's expression darkened instantly. In the next second, he shot out his hand and grabbed Erwin by the collar.
In the bustling airport, the two men-both tall and striking-had already drawn plenty of attention. Now, with Hendrix making a move, gasps rippled through the crowd.
Yet, he didn't throw a punch. He simply regarded Erwin coldly and said, "Don't push me. Cross my line, and I
off." don't care who you are-I won't let you
Erwin shook his head and said, "See? Once a man has a weakness, he stops being any fun. You weren't like this before."
