Chapter 7: Let’s Extend The Contract
The corners of Morton’s mouth twitched. He helped Elsa to the private room, and once she reached the sofa he let go of her hand, so as to avoid suspicion. Without any support, she toppled over, revealing slender white legs under her skirt.
Morton lowered his head considerately. “Mr. Laurier, I’ll be outside.”
He retreated to the door and slipped out. Stan glanced at the woman on the sofa.
She likely didn’t know where she was now, as drunk as she was. Even after a year, they hadn’t seen each other often, and it was the first time he’d ever seen her drunk.
“Are you really that happy our contract is ending? Hm?” Stan reached out and slapped her twice across the face. “Did you drink yourself to death?”
Elsa blinked her eyes open to see several hazy men in front of her, who eventually converged into one stern–looking man. She laughed and reached out, putting her arms around his neck.
Stan frowned and took a drag from his cigarette, then took her chin and kissed her forcefully. The smoke filled her lungs

and she coughed abruptly, her cheeks going red.
Elsa shook her head and looked up. “Mr. Laurier?”
She reached up and patted his face. The alcohol was strong on her breath when she smiled. “I thought… we broke up… Why are you here?”
“You think the contract’s over?” Stan asked coldly.
“Mm…” Elsa nodded, one finger pressed to his lips. “Morton gave me your parting gift. That means… we’re done!”
She looked even more seductive now that she was drunk, and it was igniting something in Stan–but it only reminded him of Morton’s words earlier.
His broad palm moved downwards, squeezing Elsa’s thigh, and she pressed closer to him as his hand slipped under her skirt.
The twinge of pain seemed to straighten her up slightly. Elsa frowned, but she could see the man’s face now, and something about it made her dizzy. She pulled him toward her and kissed him fiercely.
This time, Stan slipped a hangover pill into her mouth, and by the time Elsa pulled away, she had sobered up considerably.

She cooperated with him as usual, but she was out of her element today. Something about the mere thought of Stan running his hands over other women’s skin before putting them on her irritated her.
When she woke up later, she found herself back in the apartment where she’d usually met with Stan. He was standing by the window with another cigarette in his mouth, a spark flickering at the end of his fingertips, and looking more enticing than usual in a bathrobe.
Elsa thought about how she vaguely remembered him pinning her down after he’d carried her back here, and her body went slack again. She smiled at him lazily. “You’re enthusiastic today. Played with me at the bar, carried me back, and didn’t let me go… You left so early yesterday that I was sure you were bored of me.”
What had gotten into him today? He was usually so gentle with her in private, but this time he’d been aggressive.
Stan extinguished the cigarette in the ashtray on the window and walked over, taking her chin in his fingers again. “Jealous that I’m with other women?”
“Of course not, Mr. Laurier. With your wealth and status, who wouldn’t have other women?” Elsa grinned coquettishly, sliding her fingers up his arm. “I know my place. But you’re just being too rough with me–you said you’d be gentle, but you hurt me.”

If any other woman had said this, it would’ve been unbearable. But Elsa was so beautiful that her words struck deep right where they needed to, and even after a year Stan couldn’t go unaffected by her perfection. This was the first time he’d ever met a woman who, gold–digger or not, maintained an identity of her own.
He pulled her toward him. “Let’s extend the contract another six months, hm?”
It’d be a shame to really let her go.
