This time, he would publicly announce Nadia's talents and make those people regret ever doubting her.

Three days later, Mick with Ted was ready to leave the hospital when he saw the announcement about Buck hosting a banquet.

He was confused at first. Why hadn't he been invited? But then he thought about it. Considering his relationship with Buck, there was no need for a personal invitation. "Mona, take Ted home first. I've got a work event to attend to."

Mona hesitated. To be honest, she didn't want to be alone with Ted. For some reason, he'd been acting strange. He wasn't as close to her anymore.

lately,

"Mick, you're still recovering. Just skip this one," she said, worried.

Mick's tone was calm. "I can't. The company needs it."

Mona couldn't convince him, so she gave up and took Ted home by herself.

Since leaving the hospital, Ted had been scanning the area, looking around. It seemed like he hadn't found the person he was hoping to see, so his face fell.

He didn't make a fuss and just followed Mona.

Mick called for a car and headed straight for the hotel where Buck was hosting the banquet He'd been in the hospital for a while, and Nadia had known he was injured but hadn't even bothered to call. He was feeling frustrated, wanting to drown his sorrows in alcohol.

When he arrived, he found that the banquet was already underway. Buck, never one to stand on ceremony, hadn't waited for him, and that didn't bother him.

A waiter led him to the door of the private room, where he could hear laughter and chatter

from inside.

"Dr. Vega, you're a genius. It's an honor to know you."

"You're going places-promotion, salary raise, you name it."

"I heard you're studying traditional medicine now. You're truly well-rounded."

These voices were all too familiar. They were the same people who used to say that Nadia was unworthy of attention.

Because of these comments, he'd never taken Nadia to formal events. Even when they were

out drinking and he'd let her come pick him up, he wouldn't show her any kindness.

These people, always sucking up to whoever was in power, had a history of belittling Nadia.

At the time, he wasn't unaware that she was hurt by it, nor was he unaware that she wanted him to stand up for her. But he didn't think it was worth it to make enemies of his friends over someone so insignificant. He stood at the door for a while, not going in. That was when it hit him-Buck was standing up for Nadia. That was why he hadn't been invited.

"Waiter, get me another private room and bring the wine I left last time."

After a few drinks, he saw Nadia leave the room and head home. Without thinking, he followed

her.

Once Nadia reached her apartment, she felt someone was following her, a sense of unease settling in. She quickened her pace.

Once inside, she quickly closed the door behind her and let out a sigh of relief. But just as she was about to relax, there was a knock at the door. "Nadia, it's me."

Her heart jumped into her throat. Wasn't Mick still in the hospital? How did he find her place? Was he here for revenge? Without a bodyguard around, she was too scared to open the door.

"Come out and come home with me. You're mine!

"I've wronged you in the past, but I'll make things right.

"I'll be with you every day from now on."

Nadia didn't even hesitate. She grabbed a pair of earplugs, called the cops, and blocked out the

sound.

Mick kept knocking at the door, his voice now wavering, almost pleading. "Nadia, don't divorce me, okay?"
