Chapter Saying Goodbye To My Troubles 8
Chapter

Eddie said, "This person needs your help, Ms. Vega."
Eddie's tone was calm, but his gaze was sharp and dangerous, carrying a silent warning.
It was clear that if she refused, the consequences would be deadly. Nydia knew she was under Eddie's protection, leaving her little choice but to comply. Still, she wasn't about to let herself be treated like a tool.
"Is this person a friend of yours, Mr. Houle?"
Eddie didn't reply, but his silence was confirmation enough.
Though this hospital catered to war casualties from the front lines, its staff seemed to belong to various factions, their loyalties uncertain. If this was someone under Eddie's influence, it made sense for him to ensure the patient's safety by having a trusted person oversee their care.
"In exchange, I'll allow you one request," Eddie offered.
Eddie watched her lower her head, seemingly hesitant. Without wasting any time, he decided to sweeten the deal with an offer of mutual benefit.
A heavy weight settled in Nydia's chest. The fact he was offering something in return meant she truly had no choice. Otherwise, refusal would lead to only one outcome-death.
"Fine, I hope you'll keep your word, Mr. Houle." She inhaled deeply, steadying herself, before heading to the operating room.
Inside the operating room, three doctors worked frantically to stabilize the patient.
Nydia barely stepped inside before someone blocked her path. "Get out! We don't need extra people here."
She glanced past the doctor to get a better look at the patient. He was young, his sharp features marred by an unnaturally pale complexion. His face looked eerily familiar, though she couldn't quite place him at the moment. "Get out now!" a male nurse barked, his voice sharp as if he would resort to violence the
moment she took a step forward.
However, before Nydia could speak, all the medical equipment started beeping loudly, signaling that the patient was on the brink of death.
"I can bring him back!" Nydia wasn't sure how she could stay, but she gritted her teeth and called out.
The doctors, frantically searching for a solution, roze for a moment.

They all turned to look at her. "You? How old are you?" one of them asked.
"30!" Nydia replied quickly.
"At your age, you can bring someone back from the brink of death?" another doctor questioned.
"Whether it works or not, we won't know unless we try," Nydia said confidently, causing the doctors to exchange surprised glances.
"Are you insane? Who do you think you are?"
"Get her out of here!"
Several men stepped forward, surrounding Nydia.
Just then, the door to the emergency room opened again, and Eddie entered with his team. He immediately controlled the men surrounding Nydia and dragged them out of the room.
"Mr. Houle!" The doctors were shocked, then a hint of panic flashed across their faces,
Eddie's expression was icy. "She's the lead doctor. You assist her."
"No! She's too young, she's just trying to bluff her way through this. Mr. Houle, don't be fooled."
Eddie turned to the doctor, his voice low but stern. "Are you refusing to follow my orders?"
The doctor immediately lowered his head.
Nydia walked to the bedside, examining the test results. "I want to do acupuncture, and after that, I'll send electrical currents through each silver needle."
She looked at Eddie seriously. "I have a 50% chance of success."
The surrounding doctors gasped in disbelief. They immediately started to caution Eddie. "Mr. Houle, please think carefully."
Eddie turned back to the doctors, his voice unwavering. "How much confidence do you have?" The doctors fell silent, unable to answer. Some of them were already considering calling the time of death. After a moment of pause, Eddie spoke again. "Ms. Vega, go ahead and treat him."
In an instant, Nydia took out a small acupuncture kit from her bag. Under everyone's watchful eyes, she skillfully inserted a needle into the patient's chest.
Some people closed their eyes, thinking she might be the first to accompany Brigham to the grave. Others felt a secret sense of relief.
Previously, they had been plotting how to make Brigham disappear, but now someone else

was taking the fall for them, allowing them to save their own lives. That was a welcome turn. of events.
It didn't take long for Nydia to finish with the acupuncture and start applying electrical
currents. Everyone held their breath. Whether it would work or not depended entirely on this
moment.
Nydia worked quickly, and after the electrical current was applied, Brigham's body twitched a few times. Within seconds, the previously alarming beeping from the medical equipment ceased. The entire emergency room fell silent. However, Nydia continued her work. After another ten minutes, she removed the silver needle and cut off the electrical current.
Brigham, who had been on the verge of death moments ago, slowly opened his eyes. His first sight was a pair of clear, focused eyes.
Nydia's gaze was focused. In her eyes, all that could be seen was his slightly weary tried to speak, but his body was too weak to produce a sound.
"He's out of danger now," Nydia announced, her voice tired but firm.
face. He
The moment she spoke, the tension in the room eased. The doctors relaxed visibly. Nydia turned toward the doctor who had asked about her age earlier.
"Mr. Houle, this person seems suspicious."
Without waiting for further explanation, Eddie waved his hand dismissively. The doctor was immediately restrained and taken away.
Nydia pursed her lips, feeling a sting of frustration. She wondered if they thought she was an easy target.
The acupuncture had drained both her energy and focus, and she was exhausted. She was about to head for a quick rest when Norman rushed over and immediately wrapped his arms around her legs. "Ms. Vega!" he cried, his eyes filled with tears. He looked utterly pitiful.
"I've been waiting for you for so long."
Nydia's heart softened, and she bent down to pick him up. "How about we go play some games?"
"Yes!" Norman eagerly nodded, snuggling into her arms like a content kitten.
Eddie watched Nydia's slender figure with a slight look of concern, but he still followed her to
the rest area.
Nydia thought about having a milkshake, but since there were none available, she ordered at cup of milk instead. After a moment, she glanced at Norman and Eddie, then ordered two more cups.
The three of them sat down, and Nydia pushed the cup in front of Eddie.
"Mr. Houle, are you here to ask about my conditions?" she asked.
Eddie looked down at the milk, took a sip, and then said, "Go ahead. Tell me what you want."
Nydia hesitated. "Mr. Houle, does this condition have a time limit?
"You can ask me at any time," Eddie reassured her.
Nydia paused for a moment. "Mr. Houle, you're following me not just because of this, are you?
Eddie nodded calmly. "You'll need to stay with me from now on."
Nydia almost spat out the milk. "Why?"
"To take care of the child."
"The contract didn't mention this," she said.
"I've added an additional clause. You can check the terms," Eddie replied.
Nydia was speechless. She thought, "No wonder he was so generous when talking about the conditions earlier. He's been waiting for this."
However, she was more concerned about Norman. "Is it because of Norman's situation?"
Eddie was surprised by her insight. "He's heavily dependent on you."
Nydia thought for a moment. "Alright, Norman is my good friend. I can't just ignore him."
But living in the villa was another story. She felt out of place.
At 1:00 am, she couldn't sleep and decided to go downstairs for a walk. To her surprise, Eddie was lying on the couch.
As soon as she turned on the light, Eddie opened his eyes and looked at her.
