Love in Twilight novel (Clarissa and Damien)

Chapter 57

Chapter 57 Reason for Dumping Damien to Madelynn "Enter" Damien's cold and emotionless voice drifted from his office, giving Clarissa the Ymission to enter that private spice She stood right in the middle of his office without a word, her eyes narrowed in silent fury. Damien leaned back on his chair, and began to study Clarissa. "I see money is an incentive for you to come here instead of my command," Damien pointed out sanonically "Stop beating around the bush, Mr. Lawrence. I'm busy with the accounting sheets right now," Clarissa retorted with a deadpan tone.

"I lost something at home. I was wondering if you've seen it."

Clarissa frowned slightly as she listed her head to look at Damien. What did he mean by that? Why would he look for her immediately when he lost something at home?

Perhaps. Was he insinuating that she was a thief? "Didn't you take away the marriage certificates? If it wasn't you, that means someone broke into my house. I'll have to call the police," Damien said seriously. Clarissa managed to calm down. As it turned out, he wasn't blaming her at all

Then again, she was afraid that he might actually call the police. So she quickly replied," That's right. I was the one who took the marriage certificates."

"Oh? What's the reason behind that? Is it so you can take the initiative to divorce me?"

Clarissa's answer was immediate. "Precisely."

Damien started laughing The sound was a mocking one, as if he was teasing Clarissa for being naive "Don't you know that a divorce can only be legally processed when both parties are present?"

"Of course!"

"Since that's the case, why did you dump me to Madelynn? Do you think you can do that just because you have the marriage certificates with you?" Damien's angry gaze was fixated on Clarissa Fire burned in his dark eyes, as if he had seen through every one of Clarissa's thoughts.

Clarissa, for her part, could feel her emotions going rampant. Her mind was quickly thrust into a world of chaos. At the same time, she could feel a cold chill traveling down her spine. The sensation was similar to when someone had just betrayed her innermost secrets.

Why must Madelynn tell Damien everything? Why was it that he would always believe that hateful woman's words?

The sight of Clarissa looking so angry and helpless simultaneously made Damien smirk. He seemed to have seen through her as he commented, "It seems you did say something along those lines before." Clarissa wasn't a liar. She couldn't pretend she never said those things before, so she could

only adroit to that faci silently

"If you say something like this in front of others in the future and allow them to hold leverage over you, I'll make sure to teach you a lesson!"

Clarissa thought, 'You're just going to punish me in bed as always. What else can you do to me?

"If there's nothing else, Mr Lawrence, I'll be leaving now." By now, Clarissa was no longer as furious as she was earlier

Darnien was an expert in negotiating. He knew exactly what to say to make Clarissa vulnerable.

As a result, the latter could never refute him. The fact stressed her out immensely. In the evening, she retumed to her dorm and carefully opened her suitcase. Then, she slipped through Zach's journal. Everything there looked perfectly normal. Then, Clarissa placed the marriage certificates atop the joumal. Just then, Lily barged into her room like the wind. She happened to be speaking at the same time. "Oh You're back already, Clarissa! When I returned just now, I noticed that the door wasn't locked. As expected, you're back!" Clarissa hurriedly tried to hide the marriage certificates, but it was already too late. Lily's gaze was fixated on the two tiny books

"A-Are you married?" Lily gasped out in shock. She promptly grabbed the books that were situing on the joumal.

Damien Lawrence. Clarissa Johnson.

Lily found the truth before her very difficult to believe. She knew Damien and Clarissa lived together, but never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that they had actually tied the knot. Didn't men like Damien prefer to marry women of the same background and status?

Lily originally thought that Damien was going to marry Madelynn. After all, he was supposedly infatuated with Clarissa's beauty and youth.

Seeing as she could no longer hide the truth, Clarissa could only spill the beans "Please don't tell anyone else. You have to keep this a secret."

She chose to not say a word about the marriage contract. If she did that, that meant she would've broken the contract. In return, she would have to pay the liquidated damages. "Don't you trust me?" Lily patted her chest confidently. "Why did you return to the dorm? Did you fight with him again?"

"Let's not talk about that." Clarissa locked her suitcase and stashed it into her closet. "He suspects Joseph and I are having an affair, so he set up a trap on us."

"Did he catch both of you red-handed in bed?" Lily asked boldly.

"How's that possible? There's nothing between me and Joseph! He's the one making paranoid guesses!" Clarissa refuted anxiously, deeply upset. "Then he sure loves you a lot, huh?" Lily's gaze turned dreamy, as if she looked forward to

experiencing a similar love life. "I can never imagine how Mr. Lawrence, who's normally untouchable, quick-thinking, and could judge situations fairly well, was like when he's jealous!"

"Tch!" Clarissa harrumphed disdainfully before replying nonchalantly, "That's just his possessiveness talking. Jealousy? Hell no! He won't allow other men to touch the goods he's personally branded."

"Did he brand you? Where? Let me see!" Lily clung onto Clarissa and took several deep and dramatic whiffs. "Oh, I get it! He branded your insides, right, Clarissa?" Clarissa's cheeks went up in flames. "Get

lost!
