Chapter 464

Unlike Millie’s high school self, she was now powerless and begrudged. Her beauty blossomed even more as she aged, but she lost her happy and bright personality in the process.

And it was all his fault.

He was the reason all colors drained from her life. He made her life a mess. But did Millie know that he was interested in her when they were in high school?

He loved her in college. For her sake, he quit smoking and attended the closest college to the School of Medicine.

Because of Millie, Greer Group’s first venture was into the medical industry.

Millie had always complained that he didn’t care for what she did for the Greer family. She claimed that she had to beg for their marriage.

But that couldn’t be further from the truth. He remembered every single thing she did for the Greer family. He was aware that she gave his mom massages and cheered his grandma up

At first, he did plan to marry Millie, and he was ready to spend his life with her. He was sure he loved her. But something changed along the way.

The abduction was the catalyst. After Millie’s disappearance, Joanna took careful care of him. At the end, he learned that it was Joanna who saved his

life.

Despite not feeling anything for Joanna, he had no choice but to marry her out of a sense of duty.

He then grew to despise Millie as she wouldn’t stop clashing with Joanna over the past few years, which tired him out.

As the leader of the Greer Group, he was the center of attention. His responsibility was to manage the group, and he didn’t have time to spare on relationships.

He had thought that marriage was nothing but choosing a woman to spend

miserably. Me felt nothing for Joanna except for gratitude

Although he announced that he wanted to divorce Millie, he admitted that he panicked when Millie agreed to it and when he received the divorce certificate

Winston observed Millie’s eyes. Would she be able to understand the emotions in his eyes, the anxiety in his heart, and his erratic behavior?

“Winston, let’s go easy on each other.” No longer as hostile and defensive as earlier, she finally relented.

Winston was a man with great ambitions who shouldn’t be trapped by love. In the same vein, she wanted a better future for herself after the divorce.

She raised her gaze and helped him with the necktie. “You don’t love me. What you’re feeling is the discomfort of losing something that you’ve always owned.”

When he stared at her, his heart nearly jumped out of his chest, just like their first day of marriage. She, too, tied his necktie like what she was doing now. The only difference was the look in her eyes.

On their first day of marriage, she tied his necktie with much care, respect, and reservation around her husband. Now, only aloofness was left in her

eyes.

Winston could tell that he had lost Millie forever from her actions and the look in her eyes.

He said in a heavy tone, “Millie, I need to marry Joanna because she-”

His words were cut off by his ringing phone. He rejected the call and went back to the conversation, but another call came in.

At that moment, someone cried from the outside, “There’s a scuffle on the deck! I think Ms. Lowell is involved. She got beaten up.”

Winston paused and wandered out of Millie’s room. She let out a snort.

The sound made him turn around to look at her, and she shrugged.
