Chapter 1159
The woman smiled faintly and said, "I was planning to keep it from you a bit longer, but since you've figured it out, there's no point in hiding anymore. Come on out, she knows." Nurse Sarah came out of another room, her eyes burning with hatred as she looked at Nina. Seeing her, Nina instantly understood what was happening and smiled at her. Sarah was enraged. "What are you smiling about? So what if you've figured it out? You're in our hands now. No one's coming to save you, no matter how much you scream." "Oh?" Nina raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing her.
This only made Sarah angrier. She rushed forward, grabbing Nina by the collar and yanking her to her feet. Worried about hurting her baby, Nina followed her motion. Nina stood up, glaring coldly at her. "You're digging your own grave."
"Digging my own grave?" Sarah sneered, glancing at Xena before letting out two mocking laughs. "I've done my job by bringing you here. Once I get paid, my aunt and I will leave this place forever. Then, it'll just be between you and me. Who's going to do anything about it?"
Xena coughed lightly, growing impatient. "Enough talk. Move aside. I've got business to take care of."
Sarah let go of Nina and stood by Xena's side. Xena, with her legs crossed and a smug expression on her face, spoke, "Now, call Nash and tell him to transfer York Corporation to me. If he doesn't, I'll throw you off from here. I might end up in jail, but you'll disappear for good."
"You're threatening me," Nina responded calmly.
She had already informed Nash, and she was confident he was on his way. All she needed to do was stall for time, and these people would get what they deserved.
Xena smirked, picking up a wooden stick from the floor and walking toward Nina. "Yes, I'm threatening you. What are you going to do about it?"
"Do you think your unborn child can't hear what you're saying? If he knows what kind of heartless woman his mother is, don't you think he might not even like you when he's born?" Nina said.
No mother could bear the thought of her child hating her. The moment Nina said this, Xena's expression shifted.
Seeing her reaction, Nina pressed
on. "At this stage, your baby can already hear and sense things. He's aware of everything you're doing. Are you really not afraid?"
"Shut up!" Xena yelled, swinging the stick down at Nina.
Nina dodged, but the stick landed hard on her right arm. The blow was powerful, and it was clear Xena had no intention of letting her leave alive.
Nina gasped in pain as the impact sent a sharp sting through her arm.
Xena grinned triumphantly, pointing the stick at her. "Keep talking, and next time, it won't be your arm. It'll be your stomach."
"If you want York Corporation, both I and my child must remain unharmed. Otherwise, even if I die, you won't escape unscathed."
Nina gritted her teeth and glared at her. They could threaten her all they wanted, but when it came to her child, there was no way she would let them harm her baby.
Her fierce determination took Xena
by surprise, leaving her momentarily
stunned. After a moment, Xena coldly sneered and handed Nina a phone. "Enough nonsense. Make the call"
"There's no need for that. If you wanted to meet me, you could have just asked. There was no need to go through my wife," came a voice from the door.
Nash had arrived, his voice calm yet commanding. As he stepped into the room, a dozen police officers quickly followed, taking control of the situation. Xena, now furious, shouted at Nash, "You've stolen York Corporation! You'll get what's coming to you. There's no escaping karma!"
Nash ignored her rant and hurried over to Nina.
"Where did they hurt you?" he asked with concern.
"They hit my arm and threatened to
throw me off from here if you didn't hand over York Corporation," Nina, sobbed, Burying her head in his shoulder. "I was so scared. If you had come any later, I don't know what would've happened to me or our baby."
