Chapter 1158
Someone called out to her.
Nina walked absentmindedly into the prenatal exam room, unaware that the examination paperwork was still with Nash. Once inside, without waiting for the nurse to speak, she took off her shoes and lay down on the exam table.
Suddenly, she sensed something unusual. Glancing to the side, she noticed a woman leaving the room. The woman had given her an odd look, and Nina quickly realized that she wasn't pregnant. It was odd for a non-pregnant woman to be in the prenatal clinic. It did not make sense.
At that moment, a voice came over the hospital intercom, announcing that it was not yet Nina's turn for her exam.
Quickly, she got off the table, put her shoes back on, and made her way to the door. As she reached the entrance, she overheard a conversation.
"That's her. The woman said if we could bring Nina to her, she'd give us ten thousand."
Someone hesitated. "Can we really trust her?"
"Why not? She said she's William's mistress. I checked, and there really is a William at York Corporation, and he's part of the York family."
Hearing William's name, Nina immediately thought of the mistress who had shown up at their house. Her lips curled into a slight smile, and she quickly composed herself before lying back on the table.
Despite everything, she knew she had to stay calm for the baby's sake.
Moments later, the same woman who had left earlier re-entered the room.
"Mrs. York, Mr. York specifically requested that we give you special treatment. Could you please follow us to another exam room?"
The woman's tone was professional, and if Nina hadn't overheard their conversation, she might have believed her. After all, hospitals often had different protocols for patients based on their status, especially when special arrangements were made. But Nina knew it was all a lie. The real goal was to take her to the mistress.
Without asking any questions, she put on her shoes and followed the woman out of the exam room.
The woman led her down a different hallway, using another elevator to avoid Nash. Their steps were hurried, as if trying to avoid
attention. Anyone paying close net
attention would sense something
was off, but Nina already knew what their plan was.
"Slow down. I'm pregnant, I can't walk that fast," Nina said, genuinely needing to be cautious for the baby.
The woman slowed her pace slightly, leading Nina through several twists and turns, passing the inpatient department and multiple buildings, until they reached the hospital's side entrance.
Nina stopped, feigning confusion. "This isn't the way to the prenatal clinic. Where are you taking me?"
"Mrs. York you've misunderstood.
We have a special VIP exam room at another location, just across the street, the woman said smoothly, pulling Nina toward the side door and across the road.
As they crossed, Nina discreetly sent a text to Nash, still playing along with the woman.
Across the street was a commercial building, but the upper floors were abandoned. The woman led her to the top floor of the building, and as they approached the dilapidated door Nina let out a soft chuckle.
The woman, startled, quickly opened the door and pushed her inside. "Hurry, get in. We don't want anyone to see us."
Nina walked into the room and saw Xena sitting on a worn-out couch.
She couldn't help but laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" Xena asked, panic creeping into her voice.
Nina didn't answer. Instead, she looked around the room before selecting a half-decent chair to sit on. After all the walking, she was tired.
"I asked you, what are you laughing at?" Xena, now irritated, raised her voice.
Nina glanced at the woman who had brought her and smiled. "There should be another person with you. Why don't you have them join us?" With that, they realized Nina had seen through their plan from the start. But despite being exposed, the women showed no signs of panic.
