Chapter 1160
"Officer Zimmer, you know what to do. Don't go easy on a woman this ruthless," Nash growled, his voice low but filled with fury. It was clear this time, someone had touched his bottom line.
Nina and the baby were Nash's ultimate boundaries. Anyone who crossed them would face serious consequences.
Nurse Sarah, still attempting to make a last-ditch effort to resist, instantly stopped when Nash shot her a cold, piercing glare.
After finishing up at the police station, Nash gently pinched Nina's nose, teasingly scolding her. "You knew it was dangerous, so why did you follow them?"
"You found out," Nina pouted, rubbing her head against his arm playfully. Nash rolled his eyes at her, though the affection was clear.
Of course he knew! They had been married for years. He could read her every small move and knew exactly what she was planning.
"I wanted to end the threat once and for all. Don't worry, I won't do it again."
"It was really risky, though. What if something had happened? Have you thought about that? What would I have done then?" Nash did not even finish before his words were cut off by Nina's kiss. Surprised at first, he quickly pulled her close and kissed her back.
Five months later, a sleek black car came to a smooth stop at the hospital entrance. Nash stepped out and walked around to the backseat. He opened the door and offered his hand to help Nina out. He carefully guided her as they entered the hospital. Nina's belly had grown large, and walking had become quite difficult, even with Nash's support.
"You're right on time. I've been waiting for two hours," Caleb complained as he approached them.
Nash, completely unapologetic, smiled. "Sorry about that, had to handle something last minute."
"Last minute, huh? Or was it you dragging your feet, not wanting Nina to come for her checkup? Afraid to find out the baby's gender?" Caleb teased.
Last night, Nash had asked Caleb to check whether they were having a boy or a girl; leading Caleb to believe Nash might prefer a boy. Now, with them being two hours late, Caleb's suspicion seemed confirmed
Nash chuckled, "Do I seem like that kind of guy?"
Nina, feeling tired from standing, just wanted the checkup over with so she could get home and rest. She urged them to hurry.
Caleb had a nurse bring a wheelchair, and they wheeled Nina into the exam room.
After an anxious wait, Caleb finally came out, his expression serious.
Nash rushed over, "How is the baby? Healthy?"
е
"The baby's perfectly healthy," Caleb said, but internally he rolled his eyes, annoyed that Nash seemed more concerned about the baby than Nina.
"Boy or girl?" Nash pressed on.
QUMS
"It's a girl. But don't get too excited. This baby's coming whether you were hoping for a boy or not," Caleb teased.
Nash, overjoyed, grabbed him and spun him around in excitement.
Pharaoh and Orion arrived shortly after, confused by the scene in front of them. In unison, they asked, "Did you get the results?"
"It's a girl! I finally have both a son and a daughter!" Nash exclaimed, picking up Orion and showering him with kisses.
Pharaoh, caught off guard at first, quickly cheered, "A girl! Not only do I have a grandson, but now a granddaughter too. This is amazing!"
"So that means I have a sister? I can take her to buy candy!" Orion was already daydreaming about taking his sister to the store.
Meanwhile, Caleb stood off to the
side, questioning his own
assumptions. He had seen plenty of people desperate to know the gender hoping for a boy, but he had never met someone so eager for a girl.
