Can't Win Me Back (Isabella and Nathan)

Chapter 70

The next day.

Nathan arrived early at the Public Affairs Directorate, but after waiting for a long time, Isabella's figure never appeared.

His assistant and driver, who stood by, mused, "Mr. Nathan, if you ask me, I don't think Mrs. Moore truly wants a divorce. I think she's just trying to get your attention by threatening to divorce you. She probably didn't expect that you'd actually agree to it, so now she's

hiding away."

Nathan's eyes darkened.

At this point, even he couldn't understand Isabella. She had been insisting on the divorce, but now, she didn't even show up at the Public Affairs Directorate? What was she playing at? While waiting for Isabella, Nathan was instead greeted by Victoria.

Victoria hurriedly got out of a taxi and rushed over to him. "Nathan, don't wait any longer. Isabella won't be coming..."

Nathan smirked. "Isabella, you dare play me?"

Angrily, he ordered his assistant, "Go immediately and bring Isabella back. I'm determined to divorce her today!"

"Yes, sir," the assistant responded sharply.

Nathan didn't notice the panic in Victoria's eyes as the assistant left. Victoria quickly spoke, "Nathan, Bella is deliberately stalling the divorce because she knows about our secret..." Nathan's face immediately turned as dark as ink.

For years, he had been cautious and careful, never daring to cross any lines with Victoria. He was afraid that any scandal would ruin his reputation and harm his promising future.

But a month ago, after Isabella pushed him to his limits, he lost control, got drunk, and in the heat of the moment, he made a mistake with Victoria, leaving undeniable proof of his infidelity during their marriage.

Victoria had always been in poor health, and Nathan never intended for her to suffer the pain of childbirth. But she had begged him to keep the baby, and the doctors had warned that after an abortion, it would be difficult for Victoria to get pregnant again. In the end, Nathan agreed to her request.

Nathan had thought that if he quickly divorced Isabella, he could marry Victoria, and when the baby was born, he would simply announce that it was a premature birth to cover up his affair.

But, despite all his careful planning, he hadn't expected Isabella to be so well-informed.

"How does she know about this?" Nathan thought, unable to comprehend.

He turned to Victoria, furious. "Why did you reveal the news of your pregnancy?"

Victoria felt extremely wronged. "Nathan, I didn't tell anyone. I only told Lucy, you know she's my best friend. We talk about everything. I didn't think she would leak it."

Victoria's eyes filled with fear.

"Is it her? Lucy?"

Nathan's face darkened, his voice sharp with anger. "You told someone else about this? How could you be so foolish?"

Victoria looked at him with terror, apologizing profusely, "I'm sorry, Nathan."

Nathan's tone was filled with despair. "It's too late to talk about this now. We need to shut Isabella up before she causes any more damage."

Victoria quickly added, "She wants me to return everything you gave me during our marriage, all the assets."

Nathan scoffed, "That's absurd. Those assets are mine. I'll give them to whoever I want. Why should I give them back to her?"

Victoria hesitated, clearly uncomfortable. "She said that when she married you, she didn't get any benefits; instead, she lost a kidney. If we don't resolve her grievances, she'll drag the divorce out, and your child will be born out of wedlock." Nathan had never been so manipulated before. His face turned blue with anger, but he loved Victoria too much, and he cherished their child. In the end, he chose to compromise.

"Fine. It's just a few properties. I'll give them to her. But our child can't be looked down upon."

Victoria bit her lip, struggling to speak. "It's not just that. She also wants my father to give her all of his assets, unconditionally."

Nathan's eyes widened in shock. This was the first time he had seen such greed from Isabella. He couldn't believe it.

"How did she become like this?" Nathan muttered, still in disbelief. He remembered the pure and kind Isabella he once knew, and now she had turned into someone so vindictive, calculating, and excessively greedy.

Victoria began to tear up, "Nathan, if we don't give her what she wants, what if she exposes our secrets?"

Nathan clenched his fists, his voice filled with hatred. "I'll hire the best lawyers and fight her in court. Isabella, let's see what you can use to fight me."

Victoria looked relieved. "Nathan,

you're finally going to be tough with her. Isabella is just a paper tiger. The only reason she's so arrogant is because you've been too kind to her. Now that you're being forceful, she might even wet herself from fear."

Nathan let out a bitter laugh. "It was my compassion that made her misjudge her position. Once the lawsuit begins, she'll see how foolish it is to go against me." Victoria smiled with relief.

Isabella, on the other hand, wasn't surprised when she received the court summons.

"Nathan, you'd rather face me in court than pay to resolve this. Fine, I'll make you pay the price."

The news of Nathan and Isabella's divorce lawsuit was deliberately leaked online by Isabella: "The

scumbag finally had a moment oret

kindness and agreed to divorce me. But, of course, it's only through a lawsuit. Ten years of my life

wasted."

This caused a massive uproar.

On one side was the powerful heir to a vast fortune; on the other, a helpless, isolated orphan, Isabella. Public opinion largely favored Isabella.

Among the comments, there were spies from Nathan's side trying to undermine Isabella's morale.

"I heard the heir has hired the best lawyer team in Capital. This team is known for never losing a case. What does Isabella have to compete with them?"

"Whether Nathan cheated or not is

still up for debate. After all, Isabella's evidence isn't convincing. Nathan might just be showing pity for his first love, and maybe Isabella is just being jealous. Besides, which man in modern society doesn't cheat? Nathan is dealing with a woman

who has no depth. Even if he did cheat, it's not the end of the world."

...

Isabella's gaze fell on the mention of the "best lawyer team," her brows furrowing.

It was only now that she realized her courageous stand was weak and helpless in the face of reality.

A knock sounded at the door.

"Come in." Isabella's voice was hoarse.

Theo opened the door, and behind him was a well-dressed, well-mannered man.

Isabella looked at him in surprise.

Theo spoke with a smile, "Bella, Nathan hired the best lawyer team in Capital, so we'll hire the most famous international lawyer, Mr. Wade." Isabella gasped. "Wade?"

She had heard of Wade's sky-high appearance fees. It was a fee even top international celebrities couldn't afford.

Moreover, Wade only took on one case a year, and those who could afford his services were among the most influential people in the world. How had Theo, at such a young age, managed to secure such a prominent figure?
