Can't Win Me Back (Isabella and Nathan)

Chapter 71

Isabella entrusted the entire divorce lawsuit to Mr. Wade, and during the waiting period, she threw herself wholeheartedly into her work.

Perhaps it was her unusual quietness that made her enemies uneasy. Victoria anxiously asked Nathan, "Nathan, why hasn't Isabella made any move yet?"

Nathan sneered, "She's scared."

Mrs. Hill chimed in, "She's just like a grasshopper after the autumn frost-she won't last long."

Victoria laughed with delight.

But soon, their smiles faded.

Three days before the court hearing, Nathan received a court notice: Isabella had requested a public trial for their divorce case.

This infuriated Nathan, and he immediately called Isabella: "Is divorce something to be proud of? Why do you insist on a public trial?"

Isabella, casually sketching, replied nonchalantly, "Because it's not me who will be embarrassed." Nathan's face darkened.

"Isabella, why are you trying so hard to make me look bad?"

Isabella remained calm, her voice steady. "Because you made me a laughingstock in Capital first." Nathan was speechless.

He knew that during all these years of being the "First Lady," Isabella's status had been nothing but empty. Without his material support, she was just a laughingstock among the high society women. He thought she was thick-skinned and wouldn't mind a few jabs here and there.

But he hadn't realized how deeply it had affected her.

"I don't accept a public trial..."

"I insist on a public trial."

The two were at an impasse.

Nathan roared, "Isabella, can't you be reasonable?"

Isabella was firm, "If you don't accept a public trial, I won't show up."

After all, it wasn't her who was in a hurry to get divorced.

She was sure Nathan wouldn't want his child to be born out of wedlock.

Nathan gritted his teeth in anger, but to get the divorce done sooner, he ultimately chose to give in. "Isabella, you're ruthless. I'll play along until the end. Hmph, if it's a public trial, let it be. I have the best legal team. They'll clear me of all the false accusations you've thrown at me. In the end, it might not be me who looks bad."

Isabella snorted disdainfully.

"Nathan, you've got a bastard child in my mistress's belly, and you still dare to call your affair a false accusation?"

Nathan laughed arrogantly, "Do you have any evidence?"

Isabella fell silent.

Getting evidence of Nathan's affair was even harder than climbing to the sky.

Nathan smugly advised, "Isabella, let me give you a word of advice-know when to quit, or you'll end up losing everything."

Isabella hung up the phone.

What nonsense was this?

Giving her a few run-down properties and thinking she'd stop?

Did he really think she was a beggar from the slums?

On the day of the trial, both Nathan and Victoria showed up at the courthouse dressed in their finest, accompanied by a large team of lawyers, looking sharp and ready.

The Hill family also came along to cheer Nathan on.

At the courthouse entrance, reporters from new media rushed to Nathan, microphone in hand, eager to get the first scoop on the Nathan's divorce.

"Your Highness, is it true that you had an affair with your wife's Bella? Is that accurate?"

The young, vibrant lawyer from Nathan's team stood at the center, his questions sharp and unrelenting.

This interview was like a blade, and Nathan felt his blood boil, but he had no response.

His silence gave the reporters more fuel for their questions: "So, Your Highness, are you tacitly acknowledging this relationship?"

"Your Highness, I heard your first wife has wanted to divorce you for a long time, but you've kept dragging

it out. Why now, suddenly, do you want to divorce? Is there some hidden secret?"

Victoria stumbled and nearly fell to the ground.

Nathan quickly reached out to support her, then quickly withdrew his hand.

"We didn't divorce before because I was worried Isabella wouldn't survive on her own. Now, I'm divorcing because she's exhausted me. It's the only option left."

"It seems Your Highness isn't as heartless toward Miss Isabella as people say."

Nathan's effort to portray himself as a good husband seemed to succeed, and a smile curled at the corner of his lips.

In the middle of the interview, a red Volkswagen drove up and parked in front of Nathan's Rolls-Royce. One car was luxurious, the other simple.

The disparity in wealth between Nathan and Isabella was immediately apparent.

The crowd grew anxious for Isabella. "How can she compete with Nathan? She's definitely going to lose," some people sighed.

Nathan thought to himself, "She's asking for it..."

Just as he was about to speak, the car door opened, and Isabella stepped out, flanked by Mr. Wade.

"Is that Isabella's lawyer? She hired a lawyer too? Does that mean her chances of winning are better?"

"It's useless. The other side has the

strongest legal team in the country, with high fees. How could someone like Isabella, who grew up in a slum, afford a lawyer more professional than theirs?"

Victoria laughed with pleasure.

Isabella and Mr. Wade walked toward them, and the crowd parted to make way.

Isabella greeted the reporters, "You can ask me anything today. I will answer every question honestly."

The reporters, excited, quickly left Nathan's side and surrounded Isabella.

They eagerly asked, "Miss Isabella, do you have confidence in winning this lawsuit?"

Isabella responded firmly, "I won't lose."

"Where does your confidence come from?" Nathan sneered under his breath.

Isabella shot him a look of utter disdain. "Because good will always prevail over evil." With that, Isabella and Mr. Wade entered the courtroom.

Nathan followed behind, head lowered.

His lawyer team suddenly began whispering, and the lead lawyer, flustered, hurried over to Nathan. He whispered urgently in Nathan's ear, "Mr. Nathan, if I'm not mistaken, the lawyer Isabella hired is the legendary Wade."

Nathan narrowed his eyes. "Wade?"

The name was familiar.

"He's a legend in our legal world, known as the strongest lawyer on the planet. Every case he's taken has turned the impossible into reality."

Nathan, feeling both amused and

incredulous, replied, "You must be mistaken. If Isabella had the money to hire such an outstanding lawyer, why would she bother fighting me for a few divorce assets?"

But after the trial began, Nathan's face was slapped with a loud *crack*.

The moment the judge saw Mr. Wade, he couldn't help but show deep respect. "Mr. Wade, it's an honor to

witness your legendary status in person..."

Nathan was completely stunned by the exchange.

His mind went blank.
