Becoming the Alpha (Amethyst Pack BK2)

We had been left alone to bond for hours, although I heard the grumbles as people got annoyed with our loud music.

Soon enough it was time to really get ready as we washed up and got dressed in our beautiful dresses.

“Are you ready?” I ask as I finish putting her hair in a braid.

“Yes and no,” She says nervously.

“I’ve got you, Carla, we’ve got this,” I hug her tightly.

“Girls! It’s time!” Lucien knocks on the door as I shut off the music and take Carla’s hand in mine.

“Is the shirt being off necessary Lucien?” I raise and brow, smirking as he’s standing in a loose pair of jeans, his feet as bare as his chest.

“It’s tradition, all the men are like it, the women are barefoot and in cropped tops, feeling the moon on our skin as a pack is one of the most powerful feelings in the world,” He smirks.

“Wolves are just show-offs,” I roll my eyes.

“Try not to gawp too much will you Serena,” Lucien laughs as he leads us downstairs.

“You look, beautiful girls,” Olivia’s hand goes to her mouth in awe as she hugs her daughter tightly as Jeremy joins her.

“Serena…” I turn to find Pauline beside me, looking upset.

“Don’t, don’t apologise. You were newly turned, you didn’t hurt anyone, we’re all ok. I am ok. I love you Pauline, vampire witch and all.” I smile as she blubs and hugs me tightly.

“I’m still sorry. I will be nearby if you need me tonight, just so you know.” She says.

“Thank you,” I nod as she walks off, I wave at Tony as I notice him waiting for her.

The wolves begin to howl together, a sound almost harmonious to my ears as I grin, looking at Carla.

“Is this how it feels on your wedding day?” She mumbles.

“I wouldn’t know,” Lucien smirks as Carla’s parents exit the house leaving the three of us.

“I’m right here Carla,” I grab her hand in mine once more as she smiles at me.

“Let’s do this,” Lucien claps as he pushes us out the door.

A path was created with the packs either side in their human forms, fiery torches lighting the sky as we walk up towards a circle where the moon would shine high in the sky as my father stood inside it.

“Tonight we stand here as two packs, combined as a family, combined by the blood of the Baldo name! We, tonight, have someone willing to shift, to become one of us in the light of the moon. To shift, to become a wolf! Tonight we help combine a friendship like no other, we give a mated pair the chance to be together as they should and we begin a new as the light of the full moon unites us all. By this moon, I welcome you all! By this moon, I announce the shifting of Carla and her journey as a wolf!” My father says as we walk to him.

“Definitely like being married…” Carla mumbles as I chuckle beside her.

“Aww, you want to marry me, Carla? I’m honoured,” I snigger as she whacks my arm playfully as I hear Lucien laugh behind us.

“Do you two ever take anything seriously?” He laughs.

“Not in your lifetime,” I smirk.

“You’re trouble cupcake, I bet Carla will be too,” he smiles as we find ourselves in front of my father.

“It’s almost time, are you both ready?” He asks.

“Yes,” I nod.

“Yes,” Carla nervously squeaks.

I look up to the sky as I see the moon peek from behind a cloud as the sky clears, feeling it soak my skin as I close my eyes, power radiating from my body.

“Time to shift!” Dad says as the packs shift into their wolves as Carla watches every single one of them with awe.

“That’s so cool,” She says with a smile.

“I will be staying in my human form with you until you turn Carla, you won’t be able to hear Serena until you bond with your wolf,” Dad says.

“Ok,” She gulps.

“Tell her I’m going to be right here,” Daniel says to me as he walks up to us, nudging her hand with his muzzle.

“Daniel says he’s going to be right here too,” I smile as she rubs his head softly.

“Soon we’ll run together,” She sighs happily as he nuzzles her.

“Time to shift Serena,” Dad says as I hug Carla.

“See you on the other side,” I smile as I shift into my wolf.

“Woah…Her eyes are even brighter than normal!” She gasps as I yip at her happily.

“Carla, I must warn you, this will hurt, are you one hundred per cent sure this is what you want?” Dad asks.

“It will just hurt this once right?” She says nervously.

“Yes, just the once,” he nods.

“Then let’s do this,” She nods in return as he gestures her to kneel in front of me.

“Take care of my daughter Serena,” I hear Jeremy say as I look to him and nod.

“I feel sick,” Daniel says.

“She’s strong, she’ll be fine, think of the outcome,” I urge him and he nods.

The moonlight begins to move as I feel it come overhead and soak up the light.

“Serena, it’s time. Carla, I am going to ask you to choose where she bites, it will mark, just like your mates mark.” Dad says as I look at her intently.

“Nowhere too intimate,” I link to dad as he tries to hold back a smirk.

“What did she say?” She catches the smirk.

“She said nowhere too intimate,” He rolls his eyes as she chuckles.

“Thigh then yeah? No, my arm,” She holds out her arm with a smirk.

“You two will be the death of me,” Dad groans as I nudge him playfully.

“Pack howl before you bite Serena,” Lucien says to me as I lead the packs in a loud howl together as Carla seems to feel the power of it as she grins, I can see she’s nervous as I was, but we were both excited too.

“Ready?” Dad asks her.

“Ready.” She gulps as I step towards her, nudging my nose against her arm.

“Trust me,” I tell dad to tell her.

“She says trust me,” He says.

“I do trust you,” She smiles as Dad nods at me and I nod before sinking my teeth into her arm as she screams out in pain.

“Hold it! Do not let go!” Dad exclaims to me as I taste her blood in my mouth, sending my alpha power to flood her, focusing on every inch of her being.

She screams and begins to contort in pain as I hear Daniel whine, watching his mate in so much pain.

“Let go,” Dad says as I let go of her arm.

“Curl around her, let her feel you beside her,” Lucien urges as I do as I was told, focusing on her as she screams in pain.

“Did I do it right?” I ask in a panic as she’s still screaming.

“You did it perfectly, keep focused,” Dad says soothing my fur as we all watch her.

“SERENA!” I hear her scream in my head as I perk up a link beginning to form between us as I press my head against hers on the ground as she continues to contort, her bones cracking.

“She’s talking to me through a link!” I yip happily.

“Is everything ok?!” Jeremy asks, watching with worry at his daughter.

“She is fine, everything is going to plan so far, a connection is being made as we speak,” Dad smiles at him as I hear the sigh of relief.

“Carla?” I push to her trying to find the link again.

Her bones crack, her screams stop and then she goes silent, her body still as I watch in horror between her and my dad.

“What…What happened?!” I cry out nudging her.

“Give it a moment Serena,” He holds out a hand as Daniel pines for her, coming closer, nudging her body as she doesn’t react.

“Tell me she’s not dead, Serena,” He cries out.

“Did your link to her snap?” I ask.

“No,” He replies.

“Grayson…” Lucien looks to Carla with concern.

“So, she’s not dead. She is not dead!” I say as I concentrate even harder on her, flooding her with my power as she begins to shake.

“Come on Carla!” I cry out.

Suddenly, she cries out once more and her body begins it’s slow and painful change as fur sprouts out her body, her legs taking shape as she turns into a beautiful bright white wolf.

“She’s ok!” Daniel yips happily.

“Carla?” I find the link between us as she turns to me suddenly, growling as I stand in front of her, towering above her as she begins to lower onto her stomach.

“Serena?” She says faintly.

“I’ve got you bestie, I accept you into my pack Carla,” I say as we lean our heads against each other.

I feel the ping of the link snapping into place as she joins our pack, our bond strengthening.

“We did it…” She says as she looks down.

“Oh yeah, we did it,” I nuzzle into her side as she lifts onto her feet, a little clumsy but gets the hang of it as she begins to pad around a little as everyone watches her.

“I’m a wolf!” She cries out happily, bouncing around as I look to my Dad as he grins at me.

I nudge Carla towards Daniel as she bumps into him and I can feel the electricity as she feels their mate bond in full power as they nuzzle each other.

“She’s an amazing bright white isn’t she?” I say to Lucien as he stands beside me as his wolf.

“I’ve never seen a wolf so white before,” He answers.

“Introduce her to the pack with a howl Serena,” Dad says as he shifts.

“Carla! Ready to join in for a howl?” I nudge her as she bounces around again like a pup.

“Oh yeah!” She exclaims.

I begin the howl as wolf by wolf join in until it’s her turn as she gains control of her wolfs howl which joined us beautifully.

“What’s that smell? Is our sight always this bright? I’m hungry. I want to run. This is so cool. Can we run? Tell me we can run.” She says in a jumble of words as I chuckle.

“Pack formation! We’re going on a run!” I say to everyone as they all begin to form in line behind me and Dad.

Carla sticks to my side like glue.

“She should be behind you!” Oliver growls behind me.

“She has JUST been turned, she stays beside me!” I growl turning to him.

“Did I do something wrong? Serena, I’m sorry,” Carla whines as Daniel nuzzles beside her and growls at Oliver.

“Carla you did nothing wrong,” Dad says to her.

“What is your problem, Oliver?” I growl.

“She’s a turned wolf, not a true wolf, she is an omega, she belongs at the back of the pack with the runts!” He snarls at me.

“That is not how this pack is run. Now you either fall in line and shut the fuck up or stay behind and leave your role as beta!” I snap.

“You’re not worthy of this pack!” He growls as I cock my head.

“Did anyone check his mind after he left the border?” I ask.

“No…” Dad growls.

“Fine, I will step down. I won’t be beta to an alpha that doesn’t belong.”

“Someone take him down to the basement. Have Silas check his mind.” I order as several of my wolves pin him to the ground as he thrashes against them. Pauline steps forward and clicks her fingers as he stills and they can drag him into the house.

“Continue your run, I will look at him myself,” She says as I nod at her.

Carla creeps up to my side as I nudge her, her head bowed in sadness.

“You did nothing wrong, you are one of us,” I tell her.

“Part of the pack!” Eric calls out as the others yip at her and she seems to get happier, her emotions were probably settling still.

“Let’s run!” I call out as the pack howls and we finally start our run.

“THIS IS AMAZING!” Carla says excitedly as she darts around me, nipping at my tail, bowling over Daniel several times and causing half the pack to fall over her feet.

“Make her wolf fall in line,” Dad growls.

“Carla, beside me now!” I order.

She looks at me as she bounds over to me, nuzzling my side.

“I want to play!” She laughs.

“First lesson, pack runs are sacred, we run in a formation. This is your first run, Carla, stay beside me,” I say.

“Oops…Sorry,” She whines as she straightens out and does as she’s told, instantly submitting to her alpha.

“Good, that’s better, her wolf is playful but does as she’s told.” Dad nods as we finish up our run.

We slow down as we get back to the house, some of the wolves shifting back, feeling the moonlight against their human skin, while others began to play and stay as their wolves.

Brianna comes racing past me as she crashes into Carla.

“Play!” She yips at her as Carla looks to me for permission.

“Go have fun,” I chuckle as she yips happily, nuzzling into Daniel before tearing off with Brianna.

“She’s gorgeous, a total handful already, but gorgeous,” Daniel says sitting beside me.

“You didn’t expect her to be any different from her human self did you?” I laugh.

“You’ve got a point,” He nods watching her.

Several other members of the pack begin to join in with her and Brianna as she gets used to her wolf. Daniel eventually decides to join in as I watch them all, Carla constantly checking to make sure I was still here like a child.

“She’ll watch you like a hawk for a few days,” Lucien sits next to me as his wolf.

“At least one thing went well today…”

“Never doubted it for a second…” He says, but he was lying.

“Not even when she went completely still…” I raise a brow.

“Ok…I have to say, I thought she died…” He nods.

“Me too for a moment. I’ve never been more scared to lose my best friend in all my life,”

A howl distracts me as I see a wolf dart from the house, growling.

“OLIVER!” I growl as I turn, bolting towards him as the pack surround him, teeth bared as he swipes at them in anger.

“His mind is not his own! Don’t hurt him!” Pauline shouts as she flits out with Tony by her side.

“Submit!” I growl at him, standing tall in front of him as he snarls at me.

He tries to resist, I can see it in his body, he’s shaking, wanting to go against me and yet needing to submit to his alpha.

I snarl, teeth bared as I step towards him, my alpha power stronger than ever in the moonlight as he begins to fall to the ground, baring his neck and stomach as he fully submits to me.

“You will not harm another, you will go back to the basement and have Pauline rid your mind of the evil that holds it!” I growl, biting him on his neck as he whimpers in submission.

“Yes alpha,” He growls as I throw him towards the house as he shifts, Liv, David and Eric grab him and take him back in as Pauline sighs in relief, following quickly.

“Never an easy few minutes are there…” Calvin smirks at me as I shift.

“He left the border because of me…” I sigh.

“If you hadn’t then Brianna would have died. He took the risk for his alpha too, he’s just as guilty in this as you are.” Calvin says as I nod.

“Did he hurt you?” Carla growls beside me looking towards the house.

“Not in the slightest,” I smirk. She sits beside me, my hand running through her fur as she rests her head on me.

“I’m hungry,” She says as I hear her stomach growl.

“Then shift and come eat,” I tell her and she looks up at me in shock.

“How do I shift?” She asks.

“Concentrate on the form you wish to take, it’s all in the mind,” I tell her as she frowns, her body shakes a little as she begins her first shift back to human, breathing deeply as she kneels on the ground.

“How do you feel?” I ask her as I help her to her feet.

“Like I could run a marathon, like I’m in a whole new world. Every smell is like I’ve never smelt before,” She smiles hugging me tightly.

“And the mating bond?” I raise a brow with a smirk.

“I want to…Excuse me a moment…”She says as she runs off towards Daniel as he spots her coming and shifts to his human form before she jumps into his arms, kissing him and then marking his neck with her bite.

“Well…That was…Interesting…” Calvin laughs.

“Try having wolf senses, we can smell the arousal…” I wrinkle my nose at the smell.

“That’s disgusting,” He says as I laugh.

“Alpha,” Vance limps towards me as I smile brightly at him.

“Vance! You’re up!” I hug him, being careful of his wounds.

“I wouldn’t miss this, I didn’t run but I did witness the turning,” he smiles.

“She’s great isn’t she?” I smile before frowning in confusion as I couldn’t see her or Daniel anywhere.

“They went inside…” Vance laughs.

“What…ohhhh” I laugh.

“A little mating fun I’m guessing,” Calvin raises a brow.

“Yep,” I smirk.

“I really will be going back to the café soon Serena, I wasn’t lying this morning about that,” Vance says beside me as we walk towards the tables of food.

“Ever do something like that again Vance and you’ll be on patrol with Luis for a week,” I smirk.

“Anything but that, he’s so…boring…” Vance groans as I chuckle.

“I heard that!” Luis comes up behind us as I laugh even harder.

“Not my fault,” Vance grumbles.

“I’m not boring, I just don’t like you,” Luis says before he walks off in a huff.

“Polite as always,” I laugh. Luis was a quiet wolf, he struggled with pack life a little more than most.

“FOOODDDDD!” Carla shouts as she skips from the house and comes to my side, stealing from my plate as I watch her in shock.

“You serious?!” I laugh as she stuffs her face.

“Ooohhh Carla stole from the alphaaa,” David mocks as he walks up with his twin and Liv.

“Bite me,” She growls.

“That a request?” Daniel smirks as I laugh noticing his brand new mate mark.

“I already did!” I hold her arm as she giggles.

“Hurt like a bitch,” she grumbles.

“You are a bitch…” Liv smirks.

“What the fuck?!” Carla growls suddenly shifting.

“Shit! She meant like a female dog Carla! Calm down! It was a joke!” I get between them.

Carla snaps at me as her wolf overreacts, her emotions sky-high as I shift and growl in warning.

“Stand down,” I growl.

“She called me a bitch!” She snarls, her lips raising from her teeth.

“It was a joke, take a deep breath and calm down, it’s your wolf emotions being heightened, take control!” I stay in front of her as she tries to dodge around me.

“She’ll pay!” Carla growls as I have to pounce on her, pinning her to the ground.

“Enough! Submit!” I snarl as she thrashes underneath me.

“Let her fight me,” Liv says as I look at her.

“You can’t be serious,”

“She needs to let her emotions out, plus we will be able to see what she’ll fight like,” Liv says as I am still holding Carla down, growling beneath me.

“I don’t know if that’s a good idea,”

“I don’t think we should have her fighting her first night as a wolf,” Daniel says.

“Carla! Enough!” I growl before yelping as she bit my leg, causing me to jump off her.

She shifts, looking at me in shock.

“I’m so sorry!” She cries.

“Was that payback for biting you?” I growl as I shift, rubbing my arm which was red from her bite.

“I didn’t mean to! I was just so angry! I don’t know what’s happening to me!” She cries.

“Heightened emotions, you must take control Carla,” Vance says as she bows her head and nods.

“Daniel, take her for a run around the territory, it will help her adjust quicker and burn off some of that extra energy she has,” Vance says.

“But what about Serena?” Carla murmurs standing close to me.

“I will be right here, go with Daniel,” I smile as she looks at me nervously.

“But…”

“Come with me Carla,” Daniel snakes his arms around her waist as he nibbles at her neck as her attention turns to him as she nods and they runoff.

“Well…Don’t call Carla a bitch…Lesson learnt,” I laugh.

“She’s going to be a wild one,” Liv chuckles.

“Tomorrow we will let her fight, but tonight she needs to just…be…” I say to my beta as she nods.

“I just thought it might help get it out of her system,” Liv says.

“It may have made it worse too, letting her wolf act upon her aggression is like teaching a puppy to attack at the slightest bit of sudden movement. She needs to take hold of herself tonight first, you chose wisely Serena,” Vance smiles at me.

“Teething problems?” Dad smirks walking up to us.

“Slight, but nothing that can’t be handled,” I smile.

“Your mother wants to talk to you,” he says causing me to frown.

“I’m not in the mood for my mother right now,” I growl.

“She is your mother Serena, she loves you, she did what she thought was best at the time those years ago, we come from a very different time,” He sighs.

“I can understand that, but it’s the fact she kept trying to hide it, pushing it in my face that she was lying, that she could sit there and let Brianna be taken back to her father and be sold off like she would be!” I growl as everyone else left us to talk.

“I know, she’s upset she did that to you, Serena. Also, I talked to Alpha Quinn and he has agreed she can stay for as long as she likes. However, if she has not found her mate by the day she turns nineteen, he will be finding her a choice mate.” Dad sighs at the last part.

“You’re joking…Right?” I raise a brow.

“No, you’re lucky you got that compromise. He’s stuck in some of the old traditions, his father is still very much alive and lives within his packhouse and has a lot of backing too, he doesn’t have a choice right now Serena.”

“Stupid fucking traditional arseholes,” I grumble.

“It’s better than nothing Serena,” Dad pats my shoulder before shoving me towards the direction of my mother.

“Nope, not doing it,” I say trying to turn before he clamps down on my shoulder and leads me to her.

“I didn’t think your father would have to force you to come to me,” Mum sighs.

“Call it the stubborn streak in the family,” I roll my eyes.

“Brianna, why don’t you come with me and get some food?” Dad says as she smiles, hugs me and then goes off with him.

“I’m sorry Serena, truly,” Mum says as I stand in front of her, arms crossed.

“I know,” I sigh.

“I do love your father Serena, I do. He is my choice mate still, he will forever be the man I love, even though we were placed together. It just became complicated when I realised Quinn was my true mate, we’d grown up together but I was forced to leave when I was sixteen so I never felt the bond when I came of age. The day I saw Quinn again I was older, mated and in love with your father and I had you, I slipped up, I let it control my mind and along came Brianna. I didn’t want to leave them but it was for the best at the time, my father was still alive and he would have all but destroyed her. There was nothing I could do. But now, thanks to you, I get to spend time with not only my firstborn but my second as we can be a family again. Don’t shut me out, I love you, Serena,” A tear falls from her eye as my heart melts and I hug her tightly.

“Don’t ever keep things from me again,”

“Never again baby girl, never again” She sniffles, kissing my forehead with a smile.

“Uhh, not to interrupt but do we still have to patrol, it’s just Daniel and Carla are kind of…mating on the border,” Yasmin walks up wringing her hands with nerves as I laugh.

“Start the patrol from whatever side they aren’t on while I go get them,” I order.

“Yes alpha,” She says running off.

“Excuse me, mum I have some cock blocking to do,” I laugh before shifting, smelling the air as I roll my eyes at the smell of arousal lingering in the air, god it could be gross.

Running across the field I hear the lustful growls of wolves mating as I chuckle to myself.

“Do you guys mind?! You’re disturbing my patrol!” I bark out as I hear a yelp before they come out the trees sheepishly.

“We…Got a little carried away…” Daniel grins as his wolf, looking almost menacing.

“Go fuck in the bedroom, stop doing it so we all have to endure it,” I roll my eyes.

“So bossy,” Carla says cheekily as I playfully snap at her.
