Unknown Magic (3)

Chapter 3

Returning home, I wished the pine scent the humid air would bring me comfort but none of it did as I walked through the forest and entered into the village. Many people saw me acknowledging me and wondered if. I was Okay. Others would just smile and continue to their task at hand. Considering in just a few days the Alpha coronation would begin and everyone was preparing for it.

I realized I was aimlessly walking till one of the girls I converse with stopped me.

Asema” spoke in the native tongue, most of the pack members did to me since now everyone knows I can understand them, “Wolf is at your home”. She said and stayed there studying me. Her Lycan mark was prominent against her skin, a vine from her ear to her collar bone. I smiled and nodded a thank you turning leaving her I made my way to the house passing by others.

I passed by the altar and saw the work of the progress being made. I sped up and found myself inside the house. Not needing to search as the living area was to my left and there sat Wolf on the couch listening to this father about something. I wasn’t paying attention to the words more so watching Wolf and soon his eyes shifted to me.

A smile both forming on our face, everything was not okay but this moment I felt relaxed and calm as the familiar warmth and electric feeling went through me.

“—And since this coronation is a bit different, she will be Luna but be known as your partner, consort” his father finished and soon realized I was in the room. He too turned his expression to me and smiled.

Welcome back dear” Then rose up, and gave me a slight hug and left the house.

I twisted my focus to the door wondering why that was so abrupted but noticed Wolf had also stood up and found my launching my arms around his neck taking in his scent.

“Either you missed me so much or what you saw was really bad” Wolf spoke in my ear and leaned away to look in my eyes with my arms still launched around his neck and his arms began to circle around my waist.

I sighed, closed my eyes taking in the moment, but shortly soon drew my gaze in his.

“The killer wants me to figure out who they are, almost like a game, I hate to say…the body was strung up like a puppet as that is what I thought of first when I saw it…and” I took a stuttering breath, “the victim is unknown yet there someone strange that everyone cannot pinpoint” I swallowed still staring in his eyes.

Wolf stared down at me, his eyes gave the impression of surprised but also sorrow, he brought me into another warm hung. I accepted knowing I craved his touch, “What can I do to help?” he asked his breath somehow tickling my neck.

I shrugged my shoulders and broke away from him while stepping into the living room and slightly paced. “I honestly don’t know.”

Wolf followed and sat down on the couch leaning forward on his knees, hands folded together. “Well my mother said she would take the kids all day if necessary and we could do some sparing to help you get some energy out and help you think.” Wolf suggested.

I stopped mid pace and stared down at him studying his body language. It was relaxed telling me he genuinely wanted to help. I gave myself a breather and nodded.

“I guess some fighting with swords will help.”

Wolf smiles, takes my hands and leads me out the house to the trees where the weaponry arena is located.

Blades in our hands with swiping the air like a whistle only to have a clank of metal noise be the resulting noise. Our feet danced across the dirt as a few kicks here and there were swiftly being brought up but enough to cause a dust storm. My breathing was the only thing that really pounded in the ears aside from the clanking of metal.

I advanced at Wolf again with a metal rod swiping it up which he blocked, to me kneeling and swiping my other foot underneath him. Tumbling backwards and making a groaning noise as his back hit the ground.

I straightened up and flipped the weapon in my hands smiling in victory.

“One point more…meaning that I am four in total, you…” I stared down at him and saw he was grinning, he sat up eyeing me.

“Me, I am stilling because I don’t keep count” he replied and lunged froward at my legs and flipped me into the air.

I yelped of shock left my mouth but from my training I landed on my hands and knees. “Cheat” I joked and lunged for him as he only laughed at my attempts.

Back we went to clashing of our weapons and bringing the dirt up.

“How are you feeling?” he asked slamming his cylinder rod against mine twisting it out of my hand, but I saved it by dropping it to the ground and kicked away Wolf arm while I swiped my weapon from the ground, basically a cartwheel. Halfway to bringing up my weapon again and holding Wolfs attempt.

“Better” I huffed a breath and pushed him away, “Still trying to understand why the killed wants me.”

Wolf stood back and took a breather, as he did a full force of something knocked through the trees sending me forward into Wolf who caught me as we landed painfully on the ground. It was if we were hit by a blast. Wolf’s hands were on my waist and I peered down at him narrowing my my eyes in confusion. As did he.

“I thought we agreed no using powers when dueling.” He groaned as the impact was hard on him.

Shaking my head as a slight tingling slowed flowed through my veins, something of unfamiliar touch, “That wasn’t me” I stated.

He slammed his head back down to the ground and studied me. “You didn’t use air?”

I shook my head.

He began to rise up and I rose to leave but he caught me forcing to straddle his hips. He sat upright enclosing his arms around me. Staring in to my eyes and placed his lips one mine. Openly I accepted and held his warm soft lips on mine as the electric feel pulsed between us. Breaking away I almost was gasping for air.

“What was that for? And what was that shockwave?” I questioned as now we both rose up planting ourselves on our feet.

“Well,” Wolf started and began collecting our weapons into a duffel bag “I thought you used air, but now I feel something is off, but not sure, and other is I just wanted to kiss you as when was the last time we would get alone time?”

I smirked, while throwing my cylinders at him, he caught it and dropped in the bag letting the sound clink against metal. I brought my attention to the trees specifically where the blast of the force came from. Wolf joined my attention walked over to the trees and crouch in front of the trees and felt the dirt.

“Everything feels fine but I cannot say that for everywhere else” Wolf said over his shoulder to me.

I grimed a smile, “Maybe it was just a blast of wind, possibly a storm coming?” I gave a thought.

Wolf shook his head. “The wind would’ve stop at the third row of trees and we are in the tenth.” He held out a hand, “let’s go check out the village and see if anyone else felt it” he suggested. I nodded and took his hand.

We threaded our way through the forest and soon I began to feel something, a hollowness as the best way I could think about it. I felt good okay for a good amount of time but now since that blast, I felt as if I am not myself again as something had changed. But I could not place it. Maybe something with power but still I wasn’t sure. I began to hear the bustling of people telling us we were about to break through the forest into the village again.

Breaking through the trees, I saw the village looking normal, nothing looked like it been blown over as if I and Wolf were the only ones really affected. I looked to Wolf and he too seemed confused or curious thought.

“Everything seems fine” I pointed out the obvious, we still stood at the tree line or really where the trees kissed the huts.

“Mhmm” Wolf murmured, “Are you sure you didn’t use air?” Wolf asked.

I was about to fight him when I stopped and saw he gave me dead serious look. That told me he wanted answer and now was becoming concerned.

I shook my head, “No, Wolf that was not my power at all, it too my completely by surprise.” I looked back to the village. First a dead body now a shock wave, I was scared to see what the third thing would be.

“I guess you jumping me is a new thing, the kiss I did enjoy but aside the point—”

A rough ragged roar came from above, everyone snapped their heads to the sky with a few second waiting to see what is was. Our answer came as silver silhouette of a dragon flew over us. Its tail flicking away in the wind and neck reaching far as it could. Slightly blinded a bit as it scales flashed light down onto us like a mirror. I winced a bit but smiled then narrowed my eyes.

“Looks like EM coming in for a visit” Wolf filled the silence and went forward to where she would land.

I kept my eyes on the dragon watching it slowly lower itself down.

Ever since Emily found out her power was of dragons; she became a well-known and only dragon rider. Apparently, the power of dragons is so great it takes only the gifted and special to be accepted by their power and now she was the only true dragon rider in the world. That cause her to be bumped up in line to the throne. But she didn’t care.

Shaking myself I made my way to where she would land. Since she is the dragon queen. The village at first was card but now they just accept it. While I am still getting used to the idea that my best friend is dragon rider queen.
