Chapter 86
Letta halted her hand as she was about to take the shop keys.
"We don't need to open the shop today," Sean said, making Letta furrow her brow.
"Why? It's okay, I can open it myself while waiting for Meri to come," Letta said, making Sean shake his head.
"It seems like Mom will come tomorrow, and today we'll take a day off. Besides, I might be a little late coming back from work," Sean said again, making Letta fall silent for a moment.
"It's okay, it's a shame if the shop is closed today," Letta said again.
"I'm sure Mom has savings, so she won't lose out if the shop doesn't open for one more day. Besides, the ingredients are running low, we need to go shopping first. So it's better to wait for Mom to come back tomorrow," Sean said, making Letta finally nod.
"I don't know what to do if we don't open the shop," Letta said, making Sean pause for a moment.
"Just stay at home. You can watch TV, read a book, or do whatever you like," Sean said, making Letta let out a long sigh.
"Alright, then I'll just stay put at home," Letta said, watching Sean get ready to leave for work.
"After work, I promise to take you somewhere that might be interesting," Sean said, making Letta once again fall silent.
"Consider it a return for you staying at home now," Sean said again, making Letta smile and nod.
"Okay, I'll wait," Letta said afterwards, making Sean finally choose to continue his steps. Today he had to go back to work, and it seemed Meri had postponed her return. She would be back the next day. Letta then closed and locked the door of the house.
Letta looked around, perhaps before relaxing, she would clean whatever she could, like mopping, sweeping, dusting, washing, or anything her hands could do diligently, until her stomach started rumbling, making Letta eventually decide to cook something. However, what made Letta sigh was when there were no groceries in the fridge, only a few wilted vegetables. Letta finally chose to take a packet of instant noodles and boil it. Fortunately, there was also an egg in it. Besides, it had been a long time since Letta had eaten instant food like this, making Letta a little excited.
Within a few minutes, Letta made her own special instant noodles and brought them to the living room, where she enjoyed them while watching TV. Letta watched several cartoons and other movies, but her movement halted when a news segment featured the cancellation of the wedding between a beautiful model and a prominent businessman.
The news stunned Letta, especially as photos of Arabella and Marco were clearly displayed on the screen, seemingly taken when they were still together. Letta wanted to hear the reason behind the news, but it seemed that no information could be obtained from sources regarding the reason for their wedding cancellation. Arabella was reported to be living in France while Marco seemed busy with his expanding business.
Letta turned off the television, feeling silent. Even the news outlet couldn't reveal any information, however small, about Marco. Letta's mind then pondered, wondering how long Marco could hide from her. With this thought, Letta lost her appetite to finish her meal in front of her.
Letta then remembered her phone. She got up from her seat and began searching for the phone around the room. However, she couldn't find it where she should have placed it after charging. Letta searched every corner of the house, but still couldn't find it. She started to panic, afraid that the phone was lost and someone might use it for malicious purposes. Letta felt that she needed to find her phone immediately.
At that moment, Sean came to Letta's mind. Perhaps the phone had accidentally been taken by Sean, considering that Letta had used his charger to charge it earlier. Letta tried to calm herself and think positively, hoping that her phone was in Sean's hands.
Letta then decided to grab a few books to divert her now increasingly negative thoughts, ignoring the food she had only lightly touched. Letta hoped that Sean would return soon, at least with someone around, she could still feel a bit calm. However, reading a few books didn't seem to calm her down. Letta continued to remember the phone, and her movement stopped when she pulled out a thick book that turned out to be a photo album. Letta brought the photo album to the chair and smiled as she looked at the face of a beautiful little girl, who turned out to be Sean.
Then, Letta realized that there was another little girl in the photo who resembled Sean. Letta smiled, feeling a bit relieved and comforted by looking at the photos of Meri and Sean's family. Letta also saw photos of Sean's late father and other family members.
Although Letta didn't know whether she kept family photos or even photos of her late father and mother, Letta felt comforted to see that Sean had memories in the photo album. At least it could soothe her longing, considering she didn't have any memories from her childhood until now.
