Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 54
-POV
Conri-
The bastard is climbing out of his car like absolutely nothing is wrong. The grin on his face made my stomach turn. Why do I get the feeling he knows something we don't? "Everyone, keep your eyes peeled." I ordered my men. "We just made it to the shops, Alphas." Emily called.
"Good, keep an eye on our princess." Edon added.
Emily smirked. "Of course, alpha." She hummed back. The longer we hung around Emily, she kind of fell into the place where Malerie once stood. The place of our little sister. I think we were all thankful for that. It makes Malerie's betrayal hurt a lot less.
I held back a smirk and turned back to the disgusting beast at hand. Prince Chaz. Once his eyes set on us, he cleared his throat and walked up to shake hands. Edon, Vil, and I forced ourselves to stay ignorant. "Hello, welcome to our territory, Prince Chaz." I pressed between my teeth. "Ah yes! I heard you found yourselves a mate. I must meet her and warn her to run while she still can." He said with a chuckle while shaking each of our hands. I'm sure that was an attempt at a joke. I'm not laughing.
"Oh, damn, you just missed her, bro. She just headed out with one of her friends." Vil said, with the best disappointed face I'd ever seen.
"Oh...a shame. Oh well. I'll be here for a few days. I'm sure we will be able to...chat soon. Now, I wanted to go over some border problems we have been dealing with for the last few weeks. Let me know if you have a place for us to discuss a solution." Prince Chaz looked up at our pack house and shrugged.
There goes that feeling again. "Anything?" I called out.
"Nothing to report on our end, Alpha." I heard a warrior through our link and the others agreed. Why was I so on edge when everyone else's thoughts seemed to report a perfect calm? Almost too perfect.
"I'm assuming in there?" He asked, before pointing to the front door with his nose pointed to the sky. Never missed a moment to remind us that he thinks he's above pack life.
I cleared my throat and forced myself to remain calm. "Of course." I added tersely.
He raised a brow and walked in without a second thought. I counted the men following him and figured out almost immediately that two were missing. I knew it."Vince, get ready. His entourage seems to have wandered."
"Yes, Alpha." Vince confirmed before I cut the link and walked in to meet Prince Chaz walking towards our office.
"This way, your highness." I called. He scoffed and followed behind me while Edon and Vil tailed him and his men. I think it's time we let him remember who he's dealing with.
The door to our main office closed quietly behind Kyle and Charlie stood at the door looking at all the people in the room. Ready to jump if needed. "Now, Chaz, I'm sorry you think this would be a friendly visit, but I'm sure you are aware that we know what you have been up to." I said calmly.
"Something is wrong!" My Lycan shouted and I tilted my neck, refraining from growling at his outburst. I cannot get distracted. I shot a glare at our 'guest' and I saw the room tense. I knew exactly how I came across. I was screaming a warning that I was not to be trifled with. Prince Chaz cleared his throat and looked at his entourage. Well...whatever was left of them. "Whatever is left of them here. He has something up his sleeve!" My Lycan howled again.
I know my Lycan was right. I'm sure the others were looking for Ayame. "What are you talking about?" Prince Chaz smirked. With that, he just sealed his coffin. They were looking to ambush. "Warriors! You better start talking to me!" I growled and Vil and Edon cocked a brow, realizing my agitation had grown.
"Still nothing here, alpha!" They all bellowed. What were we missing?!
I sighed irritably, thankful that Emily thought it would be a good idea to go shopping today. Too many people in the main square. There is no way he would be stupid enough to pull a Luna off the streets of her own territory, but.... The more I look at his face, the more I realize he really just might be. "Oh, Chaz. The thought that you really think we were stupid enough to bring you anywhere near our mate is quite laughable." Vil added.
"What's going on, Conri?" Vil's wolf growled.
I glanced his way and he pursed his lips, holding back a growl. Sending one look their way was all I needed. They were on edge now.
He looked around the room, breathing heavily until his whole demeanor shifted. I felt my skin crawl. Something was wrong. "Mate in trouble!" My Lycan howled again. I froze and my eyes burned as they shifted to my Lycan's almost immediately. I couldn't hold him back anymore. Prince Chaz chuckled and cocked his head. "What's wrong, Conri? Did you underestimate your mate's sense of justice?" He asked with a vile grin on his lips. He has her. His men have her!
"Chaz, I highly suggest your men leave her alone or we will have a war." I promised, without a hint of doubt. My Lycan showing his dominance in full force. Even the Prince himself was struggling not to submit.
He shook his head at my threat. "You wouldn't dare. Werebears are protected by the high officials of the Fae council. We cannot be touched without a just cause. We are just...retrieving our family. Nothing wrong with that."
His air-tight response was really infuriating. "You little -" Vil stood to his feet but his men were on him faster than we could think.
They were completely unphased at this point. Something is wrong. Supernatural don't just go from crippling submission to threatening an alpha. "Sorry, this was a...short visit. I really didn't think it would be this easy, but since it is, I have a reunion to get to. I'm sure Ayame would love to meet her father again."
"Her father?!" My brothers and I said at once. That was the ace! That's what he had that we didn't know about. That's how he lured our mate. He had to have told her something about her past she couldn't refuse!
He laughed harshly and turned for the door. He really was going to walk out of here without repercussions. "Oh, so you really don't know. Oh well. No reason to try and explain it to you. Especially since all I had to do was...rough up her security. She is just as in the dark as you are. Goodbye childish alphas."
He rolled something in his hands and an overwhelming amount of gravity dropped us down to the floor. I'm sure that's the same thing that released his guards. Sh*t. That's why he seemed overly confident. Even with his ace, we still would have flattened him before he made it to the front door. Bump the council laws, the spineless demon has a Fae helping him! "How could you...?"
"Oh hush. It's just a bit of collateral so we can get far enough away before you can come and find me." He walked out the room and a howl was heard from miles away.
"I'm so sorry, Alpha. I'm so sorry." Emily called, whimpering through her words.
"Mate is injured! I need to get to her!" Kyle shouted, thrashing against the spell Chaz casted on us. Did he really get the best of us that fast? How...how did this happen again?!
"I told you something was wrong! You knew something was wrong!!" My Lycan bellowed before shutting me out completely.
"Ayame is gone, Alphas." Emily's voice came through our minds and all three of us howled at the realization.
Our mate is gone.
-POV Ayame-
I sat in the car quietly, feeling the sting on my lip while we drove out of the territory, heading north. I'm not sure where, but I didn't want to ask. All I knew was these large men were not human and my safety was on the line if I messed up even once. They had already shot Emily in broad daylight. I didn't want to risk her - or anyone else's death over my hesitation.
We drove for hours and I felt like my mind was going to swirl into insanity over anything these people could possibly do to me. The possibilities were endless. The car slowed to a stop and the man next to me smirked. "No funny business." He warned. I looked down at my feet and nodded, making sure to stay quiet. I've been in this situation before. Begging, pleading and trying to run are only sure fire ways of getting hurt. I was already slapped once, and I didn't even say anything. I don't even want to know what will happen if I do.
"So submissive." The other growled in my ear and it made my whole body shake. Oh, how I wished they marked me before Prince Chaz came to visit. We fought for hours on when we should actually complete the deed, but none of them wanted me to be incapacitated when he was here. I guess it doesn't matter anymore though. We...I was still taken.
We climbed out of the car and I kept my eyes on the thick snow underneath me, thankful I was wearing layers. It wasn't too cold in our territory, but it felt like it had dropped at least fifteen degrees since we made it to this icy hell. "This way." The guard called and we stood, waiting in front of a door. He scanned his eye, then his palm, before the door unsealed and opened slowly. He turned to me as his eyes darkened. "Ladies first." He said.
I gulped and walked ahead. I had a feeling of where this would lead and once the screaming started it just confirmed my suspicions. We are in a dungeon. Nothing like the spotless marble floor that led us here. Now it was just dirt with damp patches here and there. Among the screaming was the smell of excrements and the moans of lost souls barely hanging in there.
We headed down a flight of stairs and I still kept my eyes glued to the floor. There was a sound of leather flying through the air, then the agonizing crack of a whip against skin, much more screaming and a lot more blood. Human or otherwise; I could smell it. I didn't dare to look. "Keep walking." The guard called from a few feet ahead of me.
We made it down another flight. Then, I felt the stale air engulf me. It smelled horrible down here. Like...like decaying flesh.
We stopped in front of a row of iron bars and the guard slammed his hand against them. "Wake up!" He shouted to someone who must have been in there. Wasn't he going to throw me into one of these? Why was he bothering to wake someone up?
I heard a man's cough as he groaned and shuffled around a bit. Then, I heard a gasp from the same direction. "Ayame?" I finally raised my head in shock.
I opened my mouth, then closed it again. This happened a few times, while the man smiled back at me. Well, a shadow of a man smiled back at me. He...He looks like he's been down here for years, barely kept alive to suffer. I furrowed my brow as I did my best to remember. The gleam in his hazel eyes.... I should remember. I feel like I should remember.
I winced as I forced myself to try harder while the man shhhed me calmly like he was trying to console a wee babe. "It's okay Ayame. I'm just glad you are alright. You don't need to remember anything." He said sternly. But it seemed more like a -.
My eyes grew and I slammed my hands against the bars. "Dad?!" I whimpered as the tears streamed down my cheeks.
