Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 15
-POV
Conri-
At some point, we ended up in the city and Ayame's eyes were everywhere. It was like she had never been out before. She refused to tell us who was in the room with her, but little did she know that I could find that sickly perfume from a mile away. It was Adolpha. I don't know or care why she was in there, but I did warn my sister. That is the only way she could have found out about this. Apparently, none of them like to listen.
"Those girls are running their mouths." Edon said through the link, beating me to the punch again.
"Of course, they are. I don't know what Malerie's goal is, but you messed up with that other chick. She is a new kind of crazy. You only slept with her one time, and she thinks she's the alpha female now? That's a joke." Vilkas added, and Edon elbowed him. "And you, Conri. Adolpha... really?! Again?!"
"You have no right to talk, Vilkas!" After he botched his one chance to apologize to Ayame earlier this morning, neither of us wanted to hear anything from him.
"I may have a different approach compared to you two, but at least I don't have whores staking their claims on me to her face!" Vilkas grumbled.
"At least they have the guts to. You can't even commit to the one person on earth who was made for you." Edon bellowed right back. He has a point. "Ooooo defending the tramps now are we?" Vilkas added, and I hate to say it, but he won that round.
"Knock it off, you two. Maybe you will get another chance, Vilkas. I saw your expression when our sister left. You thought she wouldn't be able to handle her. That's why you got irritated at Vince when he tried to tell her about Malerie." I pointed out. "Shut it, Conri." Ha! I was right. I guess a change of winners is in order. Conri one, Edon and Vilkas, zero.
"Can we go in there?" Ayame asked, holding onto the bag that she had with her when she arrived. The three of us were pulled from our side conversation, and directed our full attention to her. She shifted the strap on her bag and I sighed. There wasn't much money in it, but she insisted that she take it along. There is no way we would allow her to pay for anything though.
I turned to see the store of her choice was more casual wear. Baggy t-shirts, leggings, oversized sweatshirts to name a few. That was interesting. I didn't have to see her but when I picked her up, she had curves for days. That petite body in some form fitting clothes will make everyone drool. Maybe she should stick to casual wear instead.
"Why do you want to go there? We can just give you our sweatshirts." Edon asked.
She held my hand a bit tighter and turned to Edon. I don't think she did that consciously, but she wouldn't let any of us carry her in public, so we are allowing her to walk as long as she keeps all her weight on at least one of us. It has only been a day and doc pushed for three weeks. She really is a stubborn one.
"No, I just want some leggings and I think I saw some jeans in there. You know...things to wear around the house. I'll get some nicer clothes too." She said. "And um...I'd prefer your shirts and sweaters anyway." She mumbled, making all three of us smile, including the asshole, as Ayame calls him. The more clothes she wears of ours, the more our scent will rub off on her. It's as good as we are going to get until she allows us to mate with her and that will take some time.
The door dinged and the store wasn't too busy but the eyes that were pinned on us were almost immediate. Maybe we should have gone to the human city. It would have been less conspicuous. "Alphas, pleasure to see you here. Um...what can I get you?" A random employee asked. "Whatever she wants." Vilkas added curtly and nodded to Ayame. I think this is the first time I actually saw her next to other supernatural females. She really is quite tiny.
The teller looked down and forced a smile. "Sure. I will help you with that." She tried to usher her forward, but Ayame couldn't walk, so we all followed, making the women blush. "There is no way."
"Why are all three of them here?"
"Who's the girl?"
"Why is she so tiny?"
"Omg! I picked the best time to go shopping."
Okay, this was going to get out of hand quickly. "See anything you like miss?"
Ayame blushed and pulled away from me. I wanted to pull her back, but the minute she walked off all three of us were surrounded and she got lost in the wave. "Hi Conri!" "Wow, you guys really are triplets."
"They really are identical."
"Ladies, can you please back up?" Edon said through pursed lips. He was getting annoyed. He may be the 'happy go lucky' one out of the three of us, but he is also the most dangerous and unpredictable. There is nothing and I mean nothing that can stop a werebear when they are pissed.
"Hey! Back off!" Vilkas shouted and I realized it really was getting out of hand.
"Is this all you would like miss?"
"Yes, the leggings, gym clothes, undergarments, and tanks are perfect. Thank you for finding all of this." Ayame answered. At least I know she is still in the store.
"Are you okay walking by yourself, Ayame? I noticed the limp and...."
"Oh, I'm fine. I just have to lean to the left." Ayame responded with a cute giggle.
Ugh, this is getting ridiculous. Usually when we go out in public, I'm used to this, but we normally don't shop with a human and we usually bring a guard or two to deter the crowds. I can hear her but I can't see her. "Perfect. Then right this way, I will help you. I know it sucks being around those three. Cousins or something?"
Ayame's giggle ran clear again. "Nope, but if those girls don't back off soon, Edon is going to lose it. And I thought he was the calm one."
"Wait, you can tell them apart from all the way over here?" The girl asked. "I can barely see them past all the screaming girls."
"Yes I can. They all have very distinct features."
"Wait...if you notice that much, then you must be -"
The girl was cut off. "Please don't I'm kind of tired of rude women for one day. You seem really nice, so please...don't say it." Ayame whispered and I was seething at this point.
"You have my word. Let me know when you are fit to workout again. I would love to meet up for a run."
"Definitely. I might not be able to run as far as you, but sometimes it can be therapeutic." Ayame added.
"Hey Ayame," The girl added. Then, they were whispering and there was no way I would be able to hear them from here.
"I said enough!" Edon bellowed and the whole store went dead quiet. "Back the hell up or I swear every single one of you will be on the training grounds until I tell you to leave!" He shouted. His eyes were yellow. Sh*t.
"Edon, I'm ready to go now." Ayame called, and he snapped his attention to her. She was smiling at him but her eyes looked like she was begging him to calm down.
Now...I know I said nothing could stop him, but I guess we stumbled upon that something. Edon was next to her in a second and grabbed all the bags, slowly escorting her out of the store.
"It was nice to meet you Emily!" She called over her shoulder and Vilkas and I pushed our way out to catch up. Once we finally made it out of the store, we caught up to them and Edon was sitting on a bench, leaning his head on her stomach. "Shhh...it's okay, Edon. I don't hate you. They really were persistent. Thank you for carrying my bags." Ayame said.
She rubbed his hair back slowly and he held onto her sweater. "Edon!" Vilkas called when we came up to them.
Ayame turned towards us and smiled. "He's fine. He's just overstimulated." She said.
I sat next to him and Vilkas supported Ayame. "You good, bro?" Vilkas asked. Even the big bad wolf was worried about him. I was just worried about him mauling someone. Sometimes it's exhausting being the oldest. Even if it's only by a couple of hours.
He nodded, but he didn't say a word. "How about we head home for now? I have more than enough things to tie me over."
"Don't you need more things though?" I asked. She has absolutely nothing else with her and she only bought three bags of clothes? What did she actually buy?
"I do, but I can wait. My leg hurts anyway. I got what I needed. I can get nicer things later. I really needed undergarments over anything else." She added. Ayame really is a strange one.
She is getting more comfortable around us, but the temptation of envisioning her in her panties was too tempting. Edon looked up and smiled at her. "Sorry about that. To say bear spirits are difficult to deal with would be an understatement. I'm not sure why, but it tends to be a problem of polar emotions." He pulled away from her and she immediately plopped onto his lap.
"It's fine. You have all been helping me since I got here. Making sure you don't maim anyone is the least I could do." She said, tapping his nose and throwing him off guard.
He smirked and tapped her nose back. "How about I carry you back?" He asked.
"I'm okay with it because seriously, my ankle is killing me." So that's why she squeezed my hand earlier.
"We can order the rest of your clothes." Vilkas suggested.
"Will it actually ship this far?" She asked curiously.
"No, we can order from the shops here and have them sent to the house." Vilkas added.
"Oh, cool. I don't have a phone, but may I borrow one of your laptops." We all froze and turned to her.
"Wait, you don't have a phone?" We asked at the same time. How the hell would we get in contact with her if we weren't home?
She shook her head. "I...no...I didn't want him to follow me and I wasn't allowed to use it when I was with him anyway. I don't even know if that thing would turn on. I definitely didn't want to bring it with me." She whimpered and buried herself into Edon's chest.
"That's fine, we were just surprised is all. Let's head home. Getting a phone might take a bit of time to get here, but I think it would be important for you to get one." Edon confessed. He was right. Getting phones means going into a human city. We don't have stores like that here. We don't necessarily need phones, so it doesn't make much sense. I guess relying on the mind link all the time has officially nipped us in the butt. Lovely.
At least she's okay with heading home for now. I glanced around us while Edon stood to his feet, Ayame resting in his arms. It looked like the crowd in the store was about to get bigger and I, for one, was done with getting jumped by random people on the street. One of these days we can actually walk around with her, but until then, maybe the main market is not the best option.
