The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 393

Chapter 393

Noelle didn't know how to answer Beatrice.

Fortunately, the doctor soon arrived.

Noelle immediately stepped aside to make room for the doctor.

Beatrice said nothing more. She simply lay there, letting the medical staff do their work. Her eyes closed again, and her lips were pressed into a thin line in a refusal to speak.

Noelle called Hendrix. The call barely connected when she suddenly heard his voice coming from the hallway. She lifted her head.

"Is my mom awake?" Hendrix had already hung up and was asking her face-to-face.

She nodded slowly.

"Alright. Go get some rest. I'll talk to her."

With that, Hendrix turned to head inside.

But Noelle grabbed his hand, causing him to turn back to look at her in a puzzled manner.

The moment their gazes met, he immediately understood. He chuckled lightly and said, "Don't worry. I'll talk to her properly."

Noelle frowned, clearly unconvinced.

Hendrix grabbed her by the shoulders and gave her a reassuring squeeze before letting go and

continuing inside. The caregiver was still sitting by the hospital bed. The moment she saw him, she stood up. "Mr. Free-" "Leave us," he cut her off without taking his eyes off the woman lying in the bed.

Beatrice had clearly heard him, as Hendrix caught the slight tremor in her eyelashes. But she didn't open her eyes, not that he minded.

Instead, he sat down on the chair next to her bed and started speaking unhurriedly, "I already know everything. But there's something I don't quite understand-was last night part of your plan?

"And don't tell me you did it just because Noelle refused your request. I don't think you'd go that far, but have you considered that she might?

"If this was truly premeditated, then what was the point of everything you've been doing lately? You've been rallying shareholders, promoting certain people into position-wasn't that meant to oppose me? Yet before anything even started, you pulled a move like this. Why?

"Were you trying to use public pressure to crush me? If that's the case, you should know by now-public opinion doesn't affect me. Lloyd's situation already proved that. Sony guess is-you never really planned to do anything at all.

"All that maneuvering with the shareholders-it was just for show. To make Nathan believe you were on his side. To make him think we were completely estranged. You wanted him to take the bait so you could deal him a fatal blow when the time was right.

"But why go this far? If you hate him that much, I could've dealt with him for you. There was no need to risk your

own life."

He hadn't slept all night, hence the bloodshot eyes. Yet his voice remained disturbingly clear. 1/2

Waiting for a reaction from Beatrice, he never once looked away from her as he spoke. But she kept her eyes closed from beginning to the end.

Hendrix chuckled and continued, "Of course, I actually have another theory. This was indeed something you had planned in advance, but what you really intended was to do one last thing for me. So, in reality, Nathan is already at the bottom of the pit. Which means you truly wanted to die last night.

"As for the questions you asked me then, I didn't ignore it because I forgot. It was just that I found it ridiculous. You're my mother. How could a child possibly forget his own mother's name? Wouldn't you agree, Ms. Beatrice Robertson?"

At last, the woman in the bed slowly opened her eyes.
