Silence settled over the room.

Ophelia sat on the bed, her hands clutching the blanket tightly. After locking eyes with Hendrix for a long moment, she suddenly let out a low chuckle.

"So what? Are you threatening me now? You little brat, do you really think I have no way to deal with you? Don't forget-Nathan is in Amity Group now. If I wanted to, I could hand everything over to him at any moment.'

Hendrix nodded slightly. "Nathan, huh? So, he's the key to all of this, isn't he? But that doesn't make

sense? My mom's known about his existence for a while now. Even if you suddenly brought him back, her reaction shouldn't have been this extreme.

"Unless... there's something hidden about his identity?"

Hendrix's voice was calm, and his thinking was sharper than ever.

As soon as those words landed, Ophelia's expression shifted visibly.

Hendrix immediately knew that he was right. "So that's it. But he's just a bastard child-what kind of secret could there be? If my mom's this shaken, then the real issue must be Nathan's mother."

He continued, "Mom once told me that she really didn't want to marry Dad in the beginning. It was he who insisted on being with her. She believed his feelings were sincere, and that's why she stayed. And also why she remained in the family for all these years.

"Later, Lloyd appeared. But honestly, I can understand that After all, she spent years being a widow, so she must be feeling lonely. Even after waking up and learning of Lloyd's death, she was still emotionally stable. Yet tonight, she suddenly broke down completely.

"Which means, Dad must have deceived her, too. So, what exactly did he lie to her about?"

Hendrix finished speaking in one breath, his sharp gaze locking onto Ophelia. There was nowhere to hide under that piercing stare.

Ophelia remained silent, but her expression grew increasingly grim.

Hendrix chuckled. "Well, that makes things even simpler. All I have to do now is look into who Nathan's mother really was."

With that, he stood up and turned around to leave the room.

But just as he reached the door, Ophelia's voice rang out behind him, "There's no real secret. You'll understand why once you see a photo of Nathan's mother."

Hendrix came to an abrupt halt. Slowly, he turned around.

Ophelia immediately reached into a drawer and pulled out a photo. She then handed it to him.

When Hendrix saw the two people in the photo, he was momentarily puzzled.

Because it was just an ordinary photo of his parents in their younger years.

But soon, he realized something was wrong-the woman in the photo wasn't Beatrice!

Noelle kept watch in the hospital room all night. She had reached the peak of her exhaustion, but she still refused

to rest.

A caregiver sat nearby, keeping vigil alongside her.

Neither of them spoke, so the room remained utterly silent.

It wasn't until the first light of dawn seeped through the curtains that Beatrice finally woke up. Her gaze

was hollow, but the moment she felt the wound at her side, her brows knit together slightly.

"You're awake?" Noelle asked softly.

Hearing the voice, Beatrice slowly turned her head, her eyes landing on Noelle for a brief moment before shifting away.

Noelle didn't press her. She simply pressed the call button for the doctor.

"Why did you save me?" Beatrice asked.
