The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 310

Chapter 310

Ophelia looked as though she might faint from rage.

Hendrix, on the other hand, remained utterly composed.

He even picked up the glass by his side, taking a slow sip before calmly saying, "Grandma, I'm an adult now. This is a decision about my life, and I've made it with careful consideration."

"Your life? Do you think I don't know what you've been up to out there? Let me remind you-so long as you carry the Freeman name and are my grandson, I have every right to control your decisions! "Don't forget. Everything you have now is because of me. If you dare to act recklessly, everything I've given you can just as easily be-"

She suddenly stopped, as if realizing she had said too much Clenching her teeth, she swallowed the rest of her words.

Hendrix chuckled. "Are you referring to the one outside? No need to keep it a secret. I already know about him."

As his words fell, Ophelia's sharp glare immediately turned to Beatrice.

Beatrice, however, merely frowned and said nothing.

Hendrix continued, "Grandma, there's no need to worry. All I know is that such a person exists-where he is now or what his name is, I don't know, nor do I care to know. As far as the world is concerned, the Freeman family has only one heir, and that's me.

"If you know that person is your grand

then you'd best keep him well hidden. Because if he ever tries to step into my world, I doubt he could handle even a fraction of what the Freeman name entails. Worse, he might lose his entire future or even his life. Wouldn't that hurt you more, Grandma?"

Hendrix set down his glass, the smile on his lips remaining as warm and gentle as ever. But his every word was sharp and threatening, sending a chill down one's spine.

Ophelia's expression changed. Even the fury boiling within her seemed to pause for a moment. She pointed a trembling finger at Hendrix.

"Hendrix, do you even know who you're speaking to?" After that, she turned to Beatrice. "I knew it! Just look at the kind of son you've raised. Does he even see me as his grandmother? You and your son-" Before she could finish, her breathing grew labored. Seeing this, Grant rushed forward in alarm. "Mrs. Freeman Senior, are you alright? Should I call the doctor?"

Ophelia kept shaking her head, her trembling finger still pointing at Hendrix.

"Mr. Freeman, how can you say such things? Mrs. Freeman Senior

"I've already made up my mind about the marriage," interrupted Hendrix before Grant could finish.

"Nothing you say will change that. As for Amity Group, you don't need to worry. As long as I'm here, there won't be any chaos

"Grandma, you're getting on in years, so it's better to focus on enjoying your twilight years. There are some things you no longer need to concern yourself with.

With that, Hendrix rose from his seat. "I've said everything needed to, and I have other matters to attend to, so J'll be leaving now."

Without waiting for a response, Hendrix turned decisively and walked away.

Behind him, voices trailed on-Ophelia seemed to be scolding Beatrice, but Hendrix didn't bother listening to the

details.

When he reached the edge of the estate, Beatrice's voice suddenly called out from behind him, "Stop right there."

Hendrix halted but didn't turn around.

Since Beatrice had woken up, the two of them had rarely been alone together. If she had felt even a shred of maternal affection for him before her suicide attempt, that emotion had completely vanished upon learning how he had driven Lloyd's parents to ruin.

And as for him? When he first heard about her attempt, he had indeed felt a pang of sadness and loss.
