Chapter 308
As Hendrix's words fell, the car was suddenly engulfed in silence.
Noelle clutched the document tightly, her knuckles turning stark white from the force of her grip. Hendrix sat beside her, watching intently, as if deliberately waiting to see how she would react. If she threw a fit or even tried to bite him, he might actually enjoy it more.
In fact, Noelle couldn't help but think that Hendrix truly was hoping for that. After all, he had already gone and wanted everyone else to spiral into madness with him.
But Noelle refused to give him the satisfaction. Clenching her teeth, she forced her emotions back down and asked, "And what if I refuse to sign?"

"Hmm, it's not a big deal. I'll just let Elm Group keep rotting, and as for Dylan's little mess, don't expect me to keep it under wraps for him."
His tone was calm, but in just a few words, he painted a picture of utter chaos and destruction. Noelle's expression grew darker by the second.
The man in front of her didn't seem like the general manager of a prestigious corporation. Instead, he looked every bit the part of a bandit in a suit and tie.
Opportunistic, ruthless, despicable, and shameless-these words tumbled over themselves in Noelle's mind. Though Noelle didn't voice her thoughts, Hendrix seemed to pick up on them and responded, "I know you're cursing me in your head, but it doesn't matter. You're never going to end up with Dylan anyway. "What's more, I can promise you this-so long as I'm alive, no matter what man you get involved with, I'll make sure they don't have it easy. And since you're stuck with me forever, it makes sense for us to get married, right?"
Hendrix spoke as if everything he said was completely reasonable.
Noelle could only curse at the fact that she didn't have a glass of water in hand, because if she did, she would've thrown it at him without hesitation. Though, honestly, water wasn't necessary. Spitting on him would've worked just as well.
She had grown up in the countryside, where such behavior was all too familiar. But in the end, she still couldn't bring herself to cross that line.
In the end, Noelle simply closed the folder and said, "I need some time to think."
"Oh? And how long will you need?"
"I don't know," Noelle took a deep breath. "This is about the rest of my life. Shouldn't I take the time to think it through?"
"Sure. I don't mind. After all, I'm not the one facing bankruptcy right now. Oh, and by the way, I've been taking good care of your adoptive mother these past few days."
As if remembering something, Hendrix's smile deepened. "You know, although there's no need for us to be so calculative with each other, isn't it a little cold of you not to even say thank you?"
Noelle slowly turned to look at him.

her.
Noelle felt as if she had been cornered at the edge of the cliff.
Hendrix might have said he was giving her time to think, smiling warmly as if it were all for her benefit, but
in truth, he was forcing her to the brink, leaving her no choice but to jump.
She closed her eyes briefly, then finally reopened the prenuptial agreement. She had signed something
like this before. But her feelings now were completely different from back then.
At that time, she had endless hopes and dreams for her marriage. And now?
Noelle knew this wasn't an equal union-it was a cage Hendrix had meticulously constructed for her.
Flipping through the document carelessly, she didn't bother to read it in detail. Instead, she reached for a pen from the center console and signed her name.
