The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 307

Chapter 307

Noelle didn't want to look at him, so she turned her head away.

Hendrix didn't seem to mind. He chuckled softly before turning and walking out.

Craig immediately turned to Noelle. "What did he mean just now? Are you two living together now? And what's this about Dylan?"

Noelle didn't answer his questions. Instead, she simply said. "I was planning on discussing Elm Group with you, but it seems there's no need anymore. I have other things to take care of, so I'll be leaving

now.

"Wait! You still haven't explained yourself. Are you really living with him? So, this was all planned between you two, wasn't it? I knew it! He was talking about giving us more time before, and now, he's moving this fast-it must be because you tipped him off-

"Enough," Noelle suddenly interrupted exhaustedly.

"What did you just say?"

"He knows everything," Noelle said with a faint, bitter laugh. "From the beginning to the end, we've been nothing more than prey in the palm of his hand. We're not even on the same level as him, so how can we possibly fight back?"

Her voice was eerily calm, as if she were resigning herself to some inevitable fate.

Craig opened his mouth, ready to argue, but no words came out.

Finally, he could only ask, "And Dylan? Didn't he already call off the engagement? What does he have to do with you anymore? Someone so heartless and disloyal has nothing to do with our family!"

Noelle didn't respond. She didn't feel the need to put on the facade of a dutiful daughter in front of him anymore. After giving him a single glance, she turned and walked away without another word. "Where are you going? Noelle, get back here!"

Noelle didn't stop. But in truth, she didn't know where she was going, either.

The reporters who had crowded outside the hospital entrance earlier were now all gone, allowing her to leave openly and without hindrance. Yet, as she stepped onto the bustling street, filled with endless streams of cars and people, the chaos around her offered her no clear direction to follow.

In the end, Noelle found an empty bench and sat down.

The city remained as busy as ever. People hurried past, cars sped by, and none of it had anything to do with her. No one would pause for her. She didn't know when the sky began to darken.

As the familiar car stopped in front of her, Noelle looked up just as he rolled down the window. "Gelin," he said.

Noelle remained seated on the bench.

Hendrix let out a cold laugh before stepping out of the car himself. He then grabbed her and pulled her into the car.

Although Noelle's expression had shown clear rejection earlier, she didn't struggle against his actions now. She simply let him pull her into the passenger seat and buckle up.

Next, he handed her a document. "Take a look."

Her mind, which had been blank all day, finally began to focus as she reached out to take it.

It was a prenuptial agreement.

When she saw those words, Noelle's otherwise expressionless face finally shifted slightly. She turned to Hendrix. What is this?"

"What do you think? I'm not running a charity," Hendrix replied. "I cleaned up Elm Group's mess, so of course, I need to get something back in return."

"I'm not "

Hendrix cut her off with a cold laugh. He stated, "You think sleeping with me for two nights is enough to settle everything? Noelle, don't you think you're overestimating your worth?"
