The Road to Rebirth Her Fresh Start and His Late Sorrow

Chapter 131

Cyrus' face turned a shade darker, his voice a mix of shock and anger. "What did you just say?" Caleb didn't dare to hide anything. "Ophelia just called me. She said someone tried to assault Hayley. Unable to bear the humiliation, she... she attempted to take her own life. She's in the hospital now, fighting for her life."

Cyrus was livid. He slammed his hand on the table, the sound echoing in the room as he stood up abruptly. "Who? Who's got such a death wish?"

No matter what, Hayley was under his protection. Whoever dared to cross that line was asking for trouble. Caleb quickly responded, "It was the head of The West Group. Ophelia has already called the police. They've arrested him."

The head of The West Group? Stein West?! He's an infamous scoundrel known for taking pleasure in tormenting women.

"Go have a little 'chat' with Stein West," Cyrus said, his voice menacing and cold. "He better hope Hayley pulls through, or he's going to regret ever being born."

Caleb nodded swiftly. "Understood."

As his words hung in the air, Cyrus had already grabbed his car keys and stormed out.

---

Half an hour later, outside the emergency room.

Ophelia saw Cyrus approaching and quickly stood up straight, her face streaked with tears. "Mr. Gordon, Hayley, she..."

"I've spoken to the chief of staff. They'll do everything possible to save her," Cyrus said, his expression grim.

Ophelia, her voice quivering with emotion, added, "Mr. Gordon, that monster Stein West tried to force himself on Hayley. She had never been through anything like that. She was so desperate that she... she used a knife on herself."

"Don't worry," Cyrus vowed, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "I won't let Stein West get away with this." Ophelia nodded, tears still brimming in her eyes.

After what felt like an eternity, the door to the emergency room finally opened.

The doctor approached Cyrus with a respectful nod. "Mr. Gordon, Ms. Grant is stable now. She lost quite

a bit of blood, and the shock caused her to lose the baby. But as long as she avoids stress and rests well, she should recover."

Cyrus didn't reply, his gaze fixed on Hayley, who lay unconscious and pale on the hospital bed.

A strange, unfamiliar ache spread through him-a deep, inexplicable sense of sorrow.

Ophelia couldn't hold back anymore. "Mr. Gordon, I know you wanted Hayley to go abroad to have the

baby, but what could be safer than keeping her here, where you can protect her? This time she was lucky you were around. What if she were overseas?"

Cyrus remained silent, his thoughts unreadable.

"Mr. Gordon, please reconsider. If not for Hayley, then for the sake of the child she was carrying..." Ophelia's voice broke as she succumbed to her tears.

Cyrus clenched his fists so tightly his nails dug into his palms, yet he seemed unaware of the pain. Finally, he spoke with a steely resolve. "Take good care of Hayley. Once she has recovered, you'll accompany her abroad."

Ophelia was right. Even if he didn't do it for Hayley, he had to think of the child. He would send Hayley away, but he couldn't risk anything happening to the child-a child that was meant to be his and Nancy's.

---

Meanwhile, Nancy was blissfully unaware of the chaos unfolding back home.

As her collaboration with Baldrick drew closer, she'd insisted on leaving the hospital just five days after being admitted, despite the doctor's orders to stay for a week. Nothing Judson said could change her mind.

Judson couldn't help but approach Nancy, who was buried in her work, and playfully covered her eyes. Startled at first, Nancy quickly calmed down, recognizing Judson's familiar scent.

"Judson, let go. I need to finish reviewing this..."

"No way!" Judson's voice took on a petulant tone. "Nancy, remember you're supposed to be recuperating? If you don't care about your health, I do."

Nancy paused, hearing the concern laced in his words. It stirred something complicated within her.

She finally placed her hand over Judson's. "I'm not as fragile as you think. I know my limits." She gently moved his hand away.

But before she could refocus on her work, Judson spun her chair around, bringing her face-to-face with him.

He leaned over, bracing his hands on the chair, effectively trapping her. Their eyes locked, and Judson looked at her with an intensity that was hard to decipher.
