Chapter 124
Nancy had a gut feeling that something was off. She was just about to sidestep when a sharp pain shot through her neck.
Her eyes flicked to the receptionist who had just checked her in. The woman's face was full of spite as she sneered, "You've got no one to blame but yourself. You messed with the wrong crowd!" Nancy's pupils constricted in shock, and she balled her hand into a fist, swinging it hard at the receptionist. The punch landed squarely, sending the woman stumbling back a few steps.
Not only the receptionist but the other men around were taken aback, clearly not expecting Nancy to fight back.
"Who sent you?!" Nancy demanded, yanking the syringe from her neck. A small trickle of liquid ran down her skin, and a wave of drowsiness began to creep over her.
"Who sent us doesn't matter," the man in charge replied, giving a quick signal to his crew. "What matters is that our boss wants to see you."
As the men closed in on her, Nancy backed up against the cold, unforgiving counter, her eyes filled with defiance. She was about to resist when everything went black, and she collapsed.
Nancy felt her consciousness slipping away as rough hands grabbed her, hoisting her over someone's shoulder. Just before she fully succumbed to the darkness, she heard a distant yet urgent voice, "Who told you to touch Lena? Put her down, now!"
Potter's anger flared as he saw Nancy unconscious, and without a second thought, he charged forward. The lead thug smirked and swung a fist at Potter. Potter managed to dodge, but before he could regain his footing, another figure lunged at him from the side.
There was a crackling sound-electricity. Potter realized too late, and the taser connected with his side. His body tensed up, and he collapsed, helplessly watching as they carried Nancy away. A deep sense of failure filled his eyes.
Just then, Lenard stumbled in from outside. "Nancy, Potter, what's taking you so-Nancy! Who gave you the right to touch her?!"
Lenard's mind snapped into focus as he charged forward, but he was quickly surrounded by three large men who didn't hesitate to start attacking him.
Lenard took a punch that knocked him back a couple of steps, but he ignored the pain, seeing Nancy being carried away. He launched a kick, shouting, "Get lost, get away!"
The man he kicked went down, but Lenard wasn't fast enough to break through.
"Lenard, watch out!" Potter shouted.
Lenard turned, sensing danger, but it was too late a beer bottle smashed against his head. His vision blurred, and he crumpled to the floor.
The leader of the kidnappers gestured to his team, "Let's go."
They moved quickly, leaving as fast as they had come, the receptionist quietly slipping away with them. "Lenard," Potter said as he struggled to crawl over to where Lenard was, looking at his bloodied face with concern. "Are you okay?"
Lenard's vision was cloudy, but the thought of Nancy being taken spurred him to try and stand, "Nancy... we have to save Nancy..."
Just then, a phone rang, breaking the tense silence.
Both Lenard and Potter turned to see the phone on the floor-it was Nancy's.
Lenard picked it up with some difficulty, and as he answered, a man's voice came through, "Nancy- I'm
waiting outside. Hurry up, or I'll come in to get you."
"Judson!!!" Lenard's voice rose in panic, "Help! Nancy was just taken by a group of men!"
