chapter 7
The Father's brother is darkness and the source of all evil. He can only be freed if an evil being kills the prophet and drinks his blood. Darkness is the counterpart of the Father of all beings and has existed in all evil since the beginning of time. Only darkness is able to destroy everything good, and so since the creation of everything, there has been a fight between good and evil. The Father of all beings loves us all, but He found great pleasure in the creatures without magical grace, people. That's why every prophet He chooses is a person who has to spread His word to good beings until his death in order to prevent the destruction of the darkness. It has been a very long time since the Father allowed a prophet, and this means that you, Innia, were created for all of us to save the good." Evelyn explained to my mate when we all realized that she knows nothing of everything that we learned as children from Evelyn.
Innia sat in the armchair and listened attentively to Evelyn while we all stood around her.
"Every prophet has an angel who protects him, and when there is a sign of threat, he appears and destroys the threat. There is a special bond between them, but I don't know why you were tormented by Abbadon for so long, and your angel didn't help you." Evelyn added.
Innia looked at me as if she had heard something bad, the surprise clearly visible on her face. "What did I do wrong?" she asked sadly.
"Oh my child, you have done nothing wrong, there must be an explanation for everything. The Father did not allow this without reason." my father said consolingly.
"I think that Abbadon and the Princes of Darkness have been searching for prophets to free the Darkness for thousands of years, and with the loss of each brother, he became weakened, so he desperately wanted Iris so that he could defeat the good and kill the prophet when he appeared. The last prophet said that a being with evil powers is born good and becomes the key to defeating the darkness..." Evelyn added.
"But I don't know what the Father wanted from me. I have no message for you." Innia said sadly.
"When I saw your birthmark, I knew that you were something different than you know yourself, Innia. I think we will need help to find out the message from the Father." said Evelyn to Innia.
Father and mother looked at Innia encouragingly, but I didn't like that we knew so little about such a big event.
"You are no ordinary person, Innia. The gift you have of wandering in dreams has a reason, and we have to find out why you have it." Devas explained as he saw Innia's confused face.
I felt that everything that was just told to my mate was a lot for her, and she felt overwhelmed. "With the new information we now have, we first have to figure out what we need to do. Until then, you're safe here, so don't be afraid," my father encouraged the confused Innia.
"He could have killed me long ago... Abbadon, he could have killed me and freed the darkness, so why didn't he do that?" asked Innia, distraught.
We all looked at her, and no one could give her that answer. We didn't know. Because she was right, he could have killed her, so why wait?
"With the new information, we first have to make a new plan. I suggest we gather the War Council and present them with the facts." my father suggested.
And while they were all talking at once, I looked at Innia, who was just sitting there, left alone, thinking about the new realization of who she is. I knelt down next to her and took her hand in mine. She looked at me sadly, and a tear rolled down her cheek. Everyone stopped and fell silent at her gesture that said so much without words.
"We will figure everything out. I promise you. You are not alone. I am with you. I will protect you... I would give my life for you. You are safe, Innia." I said to her as she looked at me hopefully.
Mother put her hand on father's chest, and he looked at Innia and me. Innia had been tortured for years, she knew nothing of everything that was now explained to her. She knew nothing about good beings and about the evil ones she found out on her own skin. The pressure and the insight into what we all knew was huge and definitely too much for her at once. Until yesterday, she was on the run from Abbadon, and today she learns that she could have been saved and that all this could have been prevented. And on top of that, the burden of being responsible for all good beings is placed on her shoulders. Yesterday she thought she was a nobody, and today she finds out that she was destined for something. How difficult all of this must be for her. How many questions she must have. My poor Innia. Her tear-filled eyes showed me all this without her saying anything. Father knelt down next to Innia, and she looked from me to him. Her lip was trembling, and she was breathing heavily.
"Take care of your mate; she needs you now. Leave everything else to us; we'll figure it all out. Don't be afraid, Innia," Father whispered soothingly.
She just nodded as her tears fell, and I took her in my arms and led her out of the room. Her body was shaking, and she was clearly overwhelmed, so I decided to calm her down and take her out of the mansion. Vaell knew where I preferred to be alone, so he and Miriel followed us. On the beach, there was a place protected by trees and the mountain - a small bay that was shielded from eyes and offered privacy. I carried Innia along the uncomfortable path to the bay and set her down on the sand. She sat down, pulled her legs to her chest, and cried. My heart ached at the sight of my Innia, so I sat down next to her and took her in my arms.
She whispered incoherently and cried in my arms. My mate's pain was enormous for me, and the fact that I couldn't properly relieve her pain because we weren't fully connected destroyed me. I knew that being close to her made everything a little easier, and that's why I held her and comforted her. Vaell and Miriel sat down next to us and didn't really know what to say. Their faces showed me deep compassion for Innia, and I was grateful for their support.
"Don't worry, Innia. We'll find out everything. And Elyon won't let anything happen to you," Vaell tried to comfort her.
"Losing your mother after all these years was bad enough for you. Now, to find out all this without having someone by your side to explain everything to you is bad. If you had known all this earlier, the shock wouldn't have been so great. But you didn't have the opportunity. Your mother definitely knew what you were, but the circumstances you were in were particularly bad. Your mate can help you cope with everything better, and..." Miriel said before Innia suddenly turned to her.
"What did you say?" Innia interrupted.
"That Elyon can help you feel better," Miriel explained.
"No...the one before!" Innia insisted.
"Well, the bearer of the Prophet is visited by the angel who chose them, their protector while they carry them. So she will have known who you are," said Miriel, surprised at Innia's abrupt standing up.
"I know what I have to do!" Innia announced. She spoke in a language I didn't know, and our confusion seemed even greater.
She took my hand and ran towards the villa. I knew she was going to my dad, so I took a shortcut, and we were in front of the villa in no time.
She ran up the stairs and stormed into the meeting room where the War Council was meeting.
"Innia?" Father asked, surprised when he saw us. "What happened?"
"I have to go back in my dream, to my mother," Innia said, still clearly breathless from running.
"What?" I asked, disturbed by her statement.
"She will know. She had a visit from an angel. She knows," Innia explained, confusingly.
Father thought about her words for a moment and looked at Devas, who was just staring at Innia.
"Listen, this can be dangerous. You can't just go there alone. Everything you saw in your dreams is past or future. You are a prophet; that's how it works. You can meet Abbadon, and we don't know which one you will see. It doesn't matter. If he kills you in the dream, then you will be killed in reality too," Devas explained when he heard Innia's plan.
"I'll go alone if I have to!" Innia said firmly, crossing her arms over her chest. Devas looked at Father, who directed his gaze at me.
"Then I'll accompany you!" I announced, and she turned to me.
Father knew that my support for Innia was based on the soulmate bond and that I would do everything to protect her. But he also knew that my support had now solidified Innia's decision and that our departure was inevitable.
