Chapter 86
Chapter 86
The sapphire car stud on the woman’s car was dazzling. She placed the document in her hand on Carson’s desk.
She looked at the man sitting in the boss’s chair and was stunned by his elegance.
The boss is so young and promising?” she thought.
She quickly interrupted her infatuated thoughts about the man in front of her when she remembered her motive for coming and raised her chin.
“You must be Mr. Walters, right? I’ve seen this case. Who’s crazy enough to invest in the Connolly Group? The Connolly Group’s business has been declining since last year. It’s all being supported by new energy and environmental protection projects! Their share price will definitely drop below the issuance price in less than half a year! Which idiot suggested making your company buy the Connolly family shares out of its own pocket?”
The male assistant was called Simon Hewitt.
At this moment, he was standing by the side and trembling. He adjusted his glasses and glanced at the boss’s expression.
This woman was too fierce. He could not stop her.
Carson patiently listened to the woman in front of him, but he was not angry. Instead, he smiled and said. “What’s wrong with my good friend’s suggestion?”
“A good friend? What kind of unlucky friend do you have?”
Carson frowned slightly and glanced at her work pass. Then, he looked at the woman. “Ms. Abbotwell, who hired you?”
Lisa raised her neck. She had exquisite makeup on her petite face, and her entire body exuded a wild aura.
Hearing Carson’s words, she finally remembered that she was living under someone else’s roof and had left her hometown.
She toned down her arrogance and coughed lightly. “Um… I came in through a legitimate recruitment method.”
Carson’s lips curled up slightly. He turned his chair leisurely and stared at Lisa’s charming face. “Ms. Abbotwell, does your family have millions of dollars waiting for you to inherit?”
Lisa was confused. “Huh???”
She thought to herself, “Mr. Walters, how did you know?”
Carson continued to look at her with narrowed eyes. “In that case, go to the finance department and collect your salary for the past two days. Go back home and inherit your wealth!”
Fuck!
Would Lisa stay and be bullied by Carson here if not for the high–paying investment manager job that she had finally found?
Lisa immediately smiled like a flower to keep her job and continue to hide in Highclere City, “Mr. Walters, Mr. Walters, let’s talk things out! Look, I spent the entire night analyzing the Connolly Group’s listing proposal. With regard to the market price and stock market curve, the Heliria Company is not a promising investment project at all. I’m doing this for our company! Mr. Walters!”
Simon wiped the sweat off his forehead.
“The Human Resources Department really dared to recruit all kinds of monsters!” he thought.
Carson looked playfully at Lisa, whose expression had changed, and picked up the folder that Lisa had thrown on the table.
Carson’s pupils constricted after he flipped through the report a few times. It was as if he had been moved by something.
He looked up at the woman in front of him. She was standing obediently in front of him. She even smiled and blinked when she saw him looking at her.
Carson snorted silently, threw down the document, and glanced at the expectant Lisa. “Don’t think that you can thrive in the investment world just because you know a little bit. The stock market is deep!”
Lisa nodded happily. “You’re right, Mr. Walters.”
Carson looked at the docile Lisa and found her much more pleasing to the eye.
This woman was different from his sister, Emery. Emery was pure and innocent while Lisa was flirtatious.
Although she was wearing a white suit and had short hair that most women could not pull off, Lisa exuded a wild beauty. She had a tenacious vitality, like a wild iris.
Carson said, “Since you’re working for someone, just do your job well. Don’t you think that your boss is smarter than you? Do you need to tell me what to do?”
Lisa was confused.
Carson picked up the mouse and continued with his document. “Simon, send her out.”
“Yes, Mr. Walters!” Simon quickly stepped forward and made an inviting gesture.
Lisa took away her folder and was still a little unwilling. “Mr. Walters, are you really not going to withdraw your investment?”
Carson did not look at her. His eyes were fixed on the computer screen. “Yes, I’m rich. I don’t care.”
Lisa was shocked.
“Evil capitalist!” she thought.
As soon as Lisa left, Carson glanced at the door and recalled the scene just now. He could not help but smile.
Lisa returned to her desk and threw the folder in her hand onto the table.
“Damn it! I stayed up all night for nothing! He dares to open a securities company despite his incompetence! What a
wastrel!”
Julian came back a little late tonight.
However, he ordered food for Alexandra. The food he ordered had already been delivered before he got home. He even specially instructed the restaurant to get a lady to deliver the food and to help put it in the dining room.
Julian was a VIP customer of many big restaurants. No one dared to disobey his requests, not to mention that it was not an unreasonable request
Alexandra did not eat. Instead, she waited for Julian to eat with her.
She had been eating with Julian in the morning and at night over the past few days.
She relied on this feeling.
When Julian returned home, Alexandra stood up with the help of the wheelchair.
Her foot was slightly better and could occasionally touch the ground.
She could walk a few steps if she held the wheelchair.
Chapter 86
Mr. Ranford, have you eaten?” Alexandra walked over slowly and blinked her big eyes at him.
Julian glanced at the dining room. The takeout box was still untouched. It seemed like the young lady was waiting for him to
come back to eat with her.
He had a social gathering at four or five in the afternoon, so he had eaten.
But he said to Alexandra, “No.”
Alexandra said, “Then let’s eat together! I was afraid that you hadn’t eaten, so I was waiting for you.”
“Okay, I’ll go wash my hands.”
By the time Julian took off his tie, washed his hands, and came downstairs, Alexandra had already placed the dishes on the plates.
The food was neither too cold nor hot. It was just right.
The two of them ate face–to–face for a while. Julian was not hungry at all. Moreover, he had gone to the same high–end restaurant for his social gathering in the afternoon.
These dishes tasted good, so he asked for a separate serving for Alexandra.
Alexandra was hungry, so she ate happily.
She did not notice how difficult it was for Julian to eat the food.
Halfway through the meal, Alexandra was half–full. She said, “Mr. Ranford, I’ll probably be able to walk in two days. I’li go back to the old residence. I wonder how Grams‘ appetite has been these past few days.”
Julian said, “Grams‘ appetite is quite good. Focus on recuperating and don’t be anxious. Otherwise, Grams’ll be anxious too when she sees that you’re injured.”
“Yeah. I just don’t want to keep resting like this. It’s a little embarrassing
“What’s there to be embarrassed about? Other people can’t take a break even if they want to. Your boss gave you a break and it’s even paid. Yet you are embarrassed?”
Alexandra stuck out her tongue. It made sense.
She was still thinking about Martha’s company. She wanted to ask Julian about it, but she did not know what to say.
On the other hand, Julian was more attentive this time. Most of his attention was on Alexandra as he was not in the mood to
eat.
He asked her, “Do you have anything to say?”
