Chapter 61
Chapter 61
Julian Ranford said, “No.”
Carson Walters added, “However, those two are quite compatible. They’re both top students in the Department of Mathematics and Science. Perhaps they’ll end up together.”
Julian snapped, “Carson Walters, can you shut up and watch the show?”
“Why are you angry?”
“In what way am Langry?”
“Ha!” Carson felt that Julian was a little cranky tonight, so he ignored Julian.
Carson decided he would watch the show instead. It was more entertaining than Julian was.
Julian took another sip of coffee and looked up.
He saw a large box covered in a red cloth being moved up and placed in the center of the stage..
The audience was very quiet at this moment.
Even Julian held his breath.
Spotlights on the stage went out, leaving only two illuminating the prince–like William Jolston and the unveiled glass box.
Marco Ranford, who sat beside Julian, was very expectant as well. Marco fished out his phone, getting ready to film Alexandra, who was involved in the magic performance.
Julian glanced at Marco. “What are you doing?”
Marco answered, “Recording a video. This is a magic performance by Young Mist… I mean, a top student!”
“Stop that!”
“Alright, CEO.”
Marco put down his phone unwillingly.
He could only sigh.
The music on the stage was still playing. Soft and soothing violin music filled the entire hall.
William took out a hat from the side. Unbelievably, white birds fluttered out of the hat and flapped their wings away.
The crowd erupted into screams again.
William walked to the front of the crystal glass bed unhurriedly. A red rose appeared in his hand as he threw away his hat.
He put the rose in his mouth, turned around, and unveiled the red velvet cloth, revealing the glass bed that seemingly glittered in the light.
As for Alexandra Doherty, she was lying quietly inside the curved glass bed with her eyes closed. She looked very peaceful.
Julian also saw Alexandra lying quietly inside. She was wearing the white gauze dress he had chosen for her last night, and her black hair was scattered on the side of the pillow.
Perhaps it was because of the stage lighting, but Alexandra’s face looked ashen.
Julian shifted his gaze away from Alexandra and saw William standing on the side of the glass bed, looking down at the person inside.
It was as if he was gazing upon someone he loved.
The rage in Julian’s heart burned even more ferociously.
He was determined to settle the score with Alexandra afterward.
He even rejected a social event and delayed a business deal to cheer her on and calm her nerves about being a guest for the prize presentation.
And here she was wearing the clothes he had bought and even cooperating with another man to perform here?
Was she toying with him?
William uncovered the red cloth and flung it across the air, scattering a string of fireflies around the crystal–clear bed.
Next was William’s own performance. The red cloth had become something akin to his magic staff.
One moment, a balloon would appear from inside, and a white pigeon the next moment.
Applause and exclamations were heard.
William was very satisfied with the audience’s reaction and received a lot of cheers.
He held the red cloth in his hand. The last magic scene could only begin after Alexandra woke up.
Chapter 61
Therefore, he tumed around and walked to the side of the crystal bed, looking at the beautiful girl lying inside.
For some reason, he bent down and pressed his lips on the top of the curved glass lid like he was planting a kiss on Alexandra’s check.
In an instant, the entire venue erupted.
Carson Walters applauded fervently.
Marco glanced at his CEO, alarmed. Julian’s expression did not look good at all.
Marco was concerned that Julian might kick William off the stage.
At the same time, Marco lamented inwardly that the Mrs. Ranford was creating trouble again. What Alexandra was doing was akin to cheating on the
CEO!
On the other side, Kelly Gilligan captivated by the wonderful magic tricks. She exclaimed to Martha Connolly, “Wow! Is the princess about to wake up?”
Martha snorted. “It’s best if she wakes up. If she doesn’t, it’ll be a huge embarrassment!”
No one could hear or see exactly what was happening on stage. When William bent down to kiss, he tapped his knuckles on the area of the glass bed beside Alexandra’s ears with the red cloth three times.
“Knock, knock, knock!”
However, when he opened his eyes, he realized that Alexandra was still lying there motionlessly.
He kept his lips pressed against the glass lid and did not dare to move. William then knocked a few more times, but there was still no reaction from Alexandra.
William’s first thought was that Alexandra had fallen asleep.
He knocked harder, but Alexandra still did not move.
William felt frustrated. If she fell asleep under such circumstances, she would not be able to continue with the magic trick.
Julian was looking forward to Alexandra’s appearance, but he keenly noticed William’s unusual expression.
Everyone held their breaths and waited.
William straightened his body and turned around to face the audience with a sad smile.
Everyone was puzzled.
William was quite adaptive. He looked around and made his smile look even more miserable. “Everyone thought that the princess would wake up. In fairy tales, there are always happy endings. The princess was woken up by the prince’s kiss and lived a happy life from then on. However, in reality, do all lovers get married? Not all can escape the fate of separation. I just want to say that if some losses are permanent, then all the more we should
cherish the moments that we once used to possess.”
Finally, he waved the red cloth, and a magnificent flame appeared from it.
Exclamations sounded.
When the flames fell, William waved the red cloth in his hand gently in the air. The flames turned into blood–red petals.
They scattered around the crystal bed and the curved glass lid.
William glanced at the crystal bed. Alexandra was still sleeping.
He flipped the curtain up and gently lay it over the glass lid.
Then, he walked to the front of the stage, bent down, and the stage curtain closed.
Although the ending was a little unexpected, William’s handling of the situation was so thorough that no one felt that there were any faults in this. magic show.
Even Martha, who had been waiting to see them make a fool of themselves, was furious. She had wanted to embarrass the two of them, but William had resolved the crisis so easily.
Julan felt slightly better since Alexandra had not come out of the crystal bed. He looked in her direction.
Marco, who was beside Julian, leaned over and said with a smile, “CEO, could it be that Mrs. Ranford felt too comfortable and fell asleep? Fortunately, it seems William Jolston is quite quick–witted.”
It did seem like what Alexandra would do: falling asleep when collaborating on a performance with others.
Because William needed to continue hosting the show, the staff came up and transferred the crystal bed elsewhere.
As soon as the staff left, Kelly stood up. But before Kelly could prepare to go up on stage, Martha had left her seat.
