The Omnipotent Mrs. Ranford By Darlene Wright

Chapter 60

Chapter 60

William Jolston put on a black blazer over his white shirt. His eyes lit up when he saw Alexandra Doherty come out after changing her outfit.

Alexandra was still adjusting the creases of her dress and did not notice William’s intense and astonished gaze.

She looked up at William and walked over to the props. “Is this okay?” she asked.

William swallowed his saliva unconsciously and smiled. “Sure. You can lie down first. A staff member will come and move the props later. Like I said before, wait for my signal. You will wake up after I knock on the lid three times.”

“Alright, I understand.”

William lifted the lid. “Here, come up first. I’m about to enter the venue.”

Alexandra glanced at the glass bed prop and stepped into it. She felt it was a little hard to lie down on.

She even placed her phone on the inside of the pillow.

“Why did you bring your phone?” William asked her.

Alexandra blinked. “It’s so boring lying in there. I’ll play Poker online in the meantime.”

After lying down, she adjusted the position of the pillow. She blinked and said to William, who was holding the transparent glass lid, “I think this is it. What do you think?”

William looked at Alexandra, who was lying in front of him, his thoughts wandering.

His throat felt dry. That was the only thing he could think of. She was lying quietly on, the glass bed, looking at him with clear and beautiful eyes. At this moment, he wanted to bend down…

“Mr. Jolston?” Alexandra called out to him when she saw he was in a daze.

William came back to his senses. In a panic, he said, “Oh, I think it’s fine. Alex, don’t be nervous. Just do as we discussed previously. If we win the final award, the prize money will be split equally!”

Alexandra’s eyes lit up at the mention of the prize money.

She nodded. “You’ll keep your word?”

Her reaction amused William. “Of course. I’ll go to the stage to prepare first. Someone will come here and push you up later.”

“Okay.”

Because of his impure thoughts, William was a little embarrassed, so he quickly closed the lid.

With a clack, the glass lid was shut.

Alexandra felt the bed shake slightly. At the same time, some dust landed on her face.

When she breathed, she seemed to be inhaling dust.

It was a new yet slightly uncomfortable experience.

As soon as the stage curtain was closed, Alexandra felt the stage plunging into darkness.

She heard William say to her, “Alex, lie down for a while. We will be going on stage soon.”

“Alright,” Alexandra replied.

Chapter 60

Then, she heard a scurry of footsteps. Williams said, “I’ll go up first. You two help me carry the props up in live minutes.” It seemed he was speaking to

someone else.

“Okay, William! Break a leg!”

She could hear messy footsteps and the chattering of others.

“Alexandra, you are so lucky! I bet you will win the first prize since you are working with William.”

Alexandra was still clear–headed at first but felt a little dizzy. It was as if she had been hypnotized.

There was already a red cloth covering her. She could not see anything at all. Darkness had enveloped her.

Her hearing was heightened, and she could hear the voices more clearly.

Alexandra felt that something was wrong. She reached out to touch the glass lid but couldn’t because she felt too drowsy.

Her eyelids began to feel heavy.

After struggling a few times, she closed her eyes.

Meanwhile, something was happening in the backstage dressing room.

As the piano solo was the show’s finale, Kelly Gilligan headed to the dressing room to touch up her makeup before it was her turn to perform.

Kelly thought to herself that Carson Walters was watching from below the stage. She wanted to show Carson her most stunning, beautiful side.

Martha Connolly’s dance performance had already ended. Martha had not changed out of her dance costume yet. She was wearing a turquoise body- tight dress. Her makeup was thick and exaggerated.

Martha leaned against the chair and watched Kelly touch up her makeup, but Martha’s mind drifted elsewhere.

Kelly glanced at Martha in the mirror. “Martha, are you upset? I heard William would have a partner for his magic performance. It was an impromptu change. I only discovered that his partner was Alexandra Doherty before the show started! William Jolston knows how to attract attention! He must have done this because Alexandra Doherty is popular now.”

Martha snorted. “What’s so good about Alexandra Doherty? She’s just an uncivilized girl! What else can she do other than playing dumb and seducing

men?”

“Don’t take it to heart. One is an uncivilized girl, and the other is a poverty–stricken boy. They’re perfect for each other! There are so many young masters from wealthy families. You have better choices.”

“Don’t say that about him!” Martha was indeed angry, but that did not mean she would allow others to badmouth William. Martha herself could do so, but not others.  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Kelly smiled. “Alright, alright! Calm down. Alexandra Doherty can’t compare to you. William Jolston will understand your brilliance sooner or later.”

“Hmph!”

“But no one has seen William’s magic performance rehearsal before. I’m looking forward to it!” Kelly said.

Martha’s eyes flashed with viciousness and smugness. “I’m also looking forward to it! Will the performance stun everyone? Or will it become a laughing

stock?”

When Kelly and Martha made their way from the backstage to the audience seats, William stood elegantly on the stage.

Then the music began to play.

william first used a hat to create a ball of fireworks, earning him a round of applause.

Then, William slowly walked to the center of the stage and glanced at the audience. He enjoyed the feeling of being looked up to by everyone.

Chapter 60

He said, “The princess has fallen sleep for many years. She was poisoned but has not yet been cured. She was all alone all these years. She does not know where the people around her came from or how the world has changed in her sleep. She is waiting for someone who can wala her up. Someone who treats her as a treasure no matter her appearance She falls asleep alone at the seasons pase. No one what she dreams of No one knows how beautiful and dazzling she has been. Can we wake her up tonight?”

Julian Ranford was below the stage. He knew that there were all magic tricks, but his heart suddenly shrank for no reason

The princess had been asleep for a long time

She was waiting for someone to wake her up

He felt as if someone had clutched his heart tightly

He picked up the coffee cup in front of him and took a sip

Carson was sitting beside him. He crossed his legs and said, “Is this going to be Sleeping Beauty? I’m looking forward to it!”

Julian didn’t say anything

Carson added, “At the end of the fairy tale, the princess would be woken up by a kiss from the prince. Do you think magic performance will go the same way?”

Julian felt a raging fire burning in his heart.

The prince’s kiss would wake the princess?

Childish!

“He wants to try?” Julian growled, gritting his teeth.

Carson asked, “What did you say?”
