Julian took a glance at them and said, “Alexandra is still young after all. So, it is inevitable that she has a temper from time to time. So, it is all depending on her mood. But, I am totally different from her.” 

Peter did not know what Julian meant by that. He felt a little uneasy now. Then, he smiled as he said, “That’s right. The Ranford family is so magnanimous to tolerate Alexandra’s temper. Alexandra is so lucky. As her father, I am so grateful that she married into such a good family.” 

Frank sneered silently.

Julian did not say anything much. He leaned against the couch in laze. Frank took a glance at Julian. Julian’s expression was exceptionally cold at that

Julian glanced at Peter and Margot indifferently. Then, he said casually, “In my eyes, Alexandra is a kind young lady. Whenever she saw someone in need of help, even if that person was a stranger, she would lend a helping hand for sure. But, I am not sure why when it came to the Doherty family, she would react differently. I am quite curious too!”

Margot patted Peter’s thigh and said, “Sigh! I wonder how Alexandra convey the message to you. Pete and I were intending to return her mother’s belonging to her. But, she insisted that it was a condition for negotiating on this matter. So, she left in hurry. She is too emotional and sensitive indeed. She thought that we were using her mother’s belonging as a stake for negotiation. How could we do that, am I right?” 

Julian knew what was going on upon hearing what Margot said. 

They were intending to make use of Alexandra’s mother’s belonging to threaten her in borrowing money from the Ranford family. 

Julian’s expression remained unchanged. He turned around and said to Peter, “Is that so? So, that was the case. Alexandra is such a petty girl. Mr. Doherty, where is Alexandra’s mother’s belonging then?” 

Peter looked at Margot instantly. Margot knew what Peter meant. They knew that it was their chance now. Hence, she stood up and went upstairs hurriedly. 

After a while, Margot came down with a black briefcase in her hand. 

Peter took over the briefcase and put it on the coffee table. Then, he opened it right in front of Julian and said, “There are Alexandra’s mother’s photos and belongings. Also, there is some jewelry too. I bet that Alexandra must be missing her mother so much. She gave birth to Alexandra after all.” 

Julian took a few glances at the items in the box before giving Frank a hint. 

Frank got what Julian meant. Hence, he walked towards the briefcase, closed the lid, and zipped it up. Then, he held the briefcase in his hand. 

Frank did it so smoothly that Margot and Peter did not even have time to react. 

Julian stood up at the moment Frank took the briefcase. 

Peter was so anxious right now. He stood up immediately as well. He did not know what Julian was up to. 

Julian twitched his mouth into a smile and said to Peter and Margot, “Alexandra is too sensitive. But, I am not. Since Mr. Doherty is sincere in returning the belongings to Alexandra, I shall bring them back on her behalf. Thank you for safekeeping it all these years, Mr. Doherty.” 

Julian walked out of the house as he spoke. 

How could Peter let Julian take the briefcase away just like that? He stopped Julian immediately. 

At that time, Julian’s smile had faded. Frank clenched his fingers into fists instantly. 

Peter stopped the two of them and said while he panted heavily. “What do you mean by this, Julian?” 

Julian stared at Peter coldly and said, “I am bringing the stuff back on Alexandra’s behalf. Didn’t you say that you are returning it to Alexandra?” 

Peter was stunned. Then, he said hurriedly, “How about the loan?” 

Julian asked Peter, “Since when did I say that I am lending you the money?” 

Peter was so desperate at that moment. Suddenly, he realized that Julian was playing a trick on him. His attitude changed drastically, “Mr. Ranford, you can’t do this! No matter what, I married my daughter to you. I am your father–in–law.” 

Julian sneered at him as he said coldly, “Father–in–law? Do you know how many people in this world wanted to be my father–in–law? Who do you think you are, Mr. Doherty?” 

“You!” Peter did not expect Julian to embarrass him on the spot mercilessly. 

Margot did not dare to say anything further as well. She was so furious that her lips were trembling. 

Julian glanced at Peter and Margot before leaving the house. 

Peter was so desperate that his eyes turned red as he shouted angrily.
