Chapter 115
Chapter 115
The water tasted a little sweet.
Alexandra did not feel anything after drinking the water.
Julian took the cup from Alexandra and placed it on the table.
The two head nurses pushed a hospital bed over.
Julian said. “Lie down for a while. The checkup will start soon.”
“Okay.”
Alexandra handed her backpack to Julian and lay on the bed with the help of the nurses.
Julian stood by her side and did not leave.
Alexandra lay on the bed and looked at Julian. She felt that she must look a little silly. So she giggled.
As she was giggling. Julian could not help but laugh too.
Alexandra said, “Mr. Ranford, don’t laugh at me. Why do I feel like I’m going into the delivery room?”
When Julian heard this, his smile deepened.
He said to her, “Isn’t that good? This gives you a first–hand experience of what it feels like to be an expectant mother in the delivery room.“”
“Haha! Mr. Ranford, are you experiencing the feeling of being a child’s father in advance?”
Perhaps it was because of the drug in the water, Alexandra’s mind seemed to be disorientated.
She spoke without any qualms. However, her thinking was slower than usual.
Alexandra did not feel that there was anything wrong with saying that.
Julian did not stop smiling. He bent down slightly and gently helped her push her long hair behind her ear.
When Julian moved closer to Alexandra, she smelled a familiar scent that belonged to him.
Alexandra was sleepy as the drug began to take effect quickly.
“Mr. Ranford, I feel so sleepy.”
“Close your eyes and go to sleep.”
“Don’t go.”
“Don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Stay with me. Don’t leave.”
“Sure. I’m here to keep you company.”
Alexandra did not say anything.
She fell asleep ten minutes later.
A female doctor in a white coat knocked on the door and walked in. She glanced at Alexandra, who was sleeping soundly. The doctor then said to Julian, “Mr. Ranford, the equipment is ready. We are good to go.”
“Okay”
The two nurses wheeled the bed out of the room.
After they left, Frank stood outside the room.
Frank said to Julian, “Mr. Ranford, Dr. Sloane and Dr. Charles are already waiting in the office upstairs. Once the various reports are out, we will get the results very quickly.”
“Okay”
With that, Julian followed the nurses and left.
He had promised Alexandra that he would stay by her side.
As all the checkup departments were in the same building, it was not tiring for Julian to walk around.
He followed Alexandra from one laboratory to another. Just as he had said, he wanted Alexandra to be checked thoroughly.
If Alexandra was awake, she would definitely notice that something was wrong.
Hence Julian could only lie to her.
Chapter 115
He wanted to know why she had lost her memory and fallen ill many times.
Julian also wanted to know how serious her memory loss was.
He wanted to know everything about Alexandra.
There was no waiting time as everything was arranged only for Alexandra.
It took only an hour and a half to complete all the checkups.
After the checkups, Alexandra had not woken up. The nurse pushed her to a VIP lounge to continue sleeping.
Before she woke up, all the test results were out.
Julian was in Dr. Sloane’s office.
He was sitting opposite Dr. Charles who had a white beard and Dr. Sloane.
Dr. Charles was holding Alexandra’s MRI and brain imaging reports.
Mount Victoria Hospital was the largest and top private hospital in Highclere City. It was an investment of the Ranford family. All the equipment was the
most advanced.
Therefore, it was most appropriate for Alexandra to have her checkup here.
Dr. Charles seemed to be in his sixties and wore glasses with thick lenses.
He held up two films and looked at them for a long time. Julian who was sitting opposite him waited patiently.
Dr. Sloane was looking at the rest of the scans on the computer.
He had worked in many departments when he was younger. Hence, if it was not too serious an illness, he could tell what was wrong with the patient.
Dr. Charles scrutinized the brain imaging reports while Dr. Sloane screened the remaining scans and diagnostic reports.
Other medical reports that Dr. Sloane was not familiar with had already been sent to the other doctors of various departments.
After waiting a few minutes, Dr. Charles still didn’t say anything.
This made Julian a little nervous.
He had never been nervous.
He had always been planning for things ahead and did not have to worry about things going south.
However, he was feeling nervous now because of Alexandra’s checkup reports.
It was because medical issues were beyond his control.
Finally, when Julian’s patience was about to run out, Dr. Charles raised his head.
Dr. Charles said in fluent Entealish, “This patient’s brain has been damaged before.”
“Is it serious?” Julian felt a tightness in his heart. However, it was better to find a problem than not know anything.
Dr. Charles glanced at the scan, put it on the table, and pointed to two positions. “There are different degrees of lesions in the occipital and temporal lobes of her brain. It should have been about three years. However, from these scans, it’s difficult to tell what caused it. Whether it was trauma or her own brain tissue lesions, we’ll have to examine her further to be sure.”
Julian stared at the image of Alexandra’s brain on the scan and thought of the previous situation. He asked, “Would that damage her memory?”
“Yes. Damage to the temporal lobe can cause memory confusion or loss.”
Julian went silent.
This was what he already knew. He knew that Alexandra had lost a large part of her memories.
For a moment, he did not know what else to ask.
Dr. Sloane listened to their conversation and glanced at the scans. Then he rummaged through the scans in his hand and looked at one of them.
He picked up the scan and looked at it carefully under the light. Then, he turned to Dr. Charles and said, “Dr. Charles, this is the patient’s eyeball and cornea examination report.”
Dr. Charles asked, “She must have lost her sight before, right?”
Dr. Sloane nodded. “The report shows that she had lost her sight in the past. Currently, there are still visible defects and lesions in the retina and optic
nerve tissue.”
Julian’s heart suddenly shrank, as if someone had pried open his heart.
He guessed that she had amnesia and brain injury, but he had never thought that she had once lost her sight.
Julian repeated their words. “Has she been blind before?”
Chapter 115
Dr. Charles explained to him, “The occipital lobe is closely related to the visual center of the human body. The damage to her occipital lobe is quite serious. Hence it’s normal for her to be blind before. Moreover, there’s still the possibility of becoming blind again.”
“Is there any cure?” Julian asked.
Dr. Charles looked at the scan and shook his head. He was silent for two seconds before saying, “It’s not easy to treat. Her brain has been injured in more than one area, and the reason is unknown. We can’t just treat it rashly. If there is an error in our diagnosis, there will be even more serious
consequences.”
“Then what should we do?” Julian asked again.
The tightness in his heart became more intense.
