Derek’s POV ~

It was such fun watching the animated way Rhiannon was so enthralled with the flight. There’s been no interference..as of yet. With Anita ans her mate in custody…maybe they hadn’t caught wind of our plans. It would be great to be rid of the moles. We will interrogate both women.. when the King is well. Gertie was absolutely heartbroken..and had no insight why her daughter would betray the pack!

The choppers landed on the front lot of the castle. We ran to the castle’s double doors, and Herbert..the butler tried stopping us.. I explained the situation and he realized who I am.. he let us pass.. By the time we reached the office, the safe room doors were unlocked. Honore’ packed a couple bags for her and Aurelia.. and we were, once again, in the air. I explained about her nanny.. and she broke down in tears. She wants to talk to her.. but I think I convinced her to wait for Edward.

By the time we reached the airfield, Rhiannon wasn’t feeling well.. she was overly tired and running a fever. She fell asleep on my lap, halfway home..and I was getting concerned. I called Adele and she told me she will meet me in our room, so she can check her over.

The ride home felt interminable and I was getting worried. If I tried to wake her, she would moan..or groan.. but wouldn’t rouse. As soon as Monty stopped the truck, I was out the door and bounding up the stairs to our room. She was so hot.. and I just wanted her fever to break. Adele came in within minutes, and helped me get her undressed and into a silk nightgown. She told me to run a cold bath.. no warmth, at all.. once I did, we slipped her gown off and I lowered her into the tub.. and she screamed in agony. Adele said “Her heat is starting.. her body requires your touch…so whatever you do..at least, right now, at the onset…keep your hands on her.” And she left. I did the only thing I could think of.. I stripped naked and stepped into the freezing water.. no time to think about the shrinkage factor..my love needed me!

By the time I had wrapped around her shaking body from behind, she was waking. She whimpered “It hurts, Derek. Make it stop!” I started touching her..her body responded in ways I never dreamed possible. We moved from the tub to the bed. And we made love again.. this went on..every few hours.. for three days.. Adele would leave food trays outside our door..reminding me to feed her, as much as she would eat. Ambrose would come to the forefront and demand his mate.. Edina would answer.. when it was the two of them, he would knot inside her.. the explosion that happened with them was insanely intense..and erotic as hell! On the afternoon of the third day, her heat broke. She was no longer in pain, and I felt like my dick was going to fall off! We both waddled..for different reasons, we both felt relieved.

I discovered I couldn’t wear underwear..so I settled for sweatpants and a tee shirt. She slipped on a summer dress..and we rejoined the land of the living. The jokes we faced had her bursting into tears and Adele said it was perfectly normal. And I snapped it would be perfectly normal for me to snap Monty’s neck, too. Which they thought was funny.. and I told them it is good they think I’m joking..since waking up from a dirt nap is a little hard to do. They shut up after that.

It was good to see Edward up and around. And we decided we were bringing Anita and Tammy in for questioning after lunch. Rhiannon felt much better, after lunch and everything seemed to be back to normal..except we were still walking a little funny. Micah had missed her and had buried himself in her hair, around her neck..and I realized I was listening to their conversation! WOW! This will take some getting used to! I leaned over and said softly “I can understand him.. I know what he’s saying.” The smile she gave me melted my heart..and Micah got so excited he fell off her shoulder.. but I caught him.. and he hugged me..as much as a tiny mouse can hug a 6’7 man!

We were sitting in the conference room.. waiting for Monty to bring Anita up from the cells. Tammy was already sitting here. She kept nervously looking at Honore’ and the Queen just glared at her. Shawn poured us all a drink..and Rhiannon slammed hers back, asking for another. Shawn told her “Okay, but pace yourself..we don’t want you snot-slinging toilet-hugging shit-faced for the interrogation. We like your methods.” We all laughed.. and she slammed it back anyway..before pouring herself a third..saying “Now..I will pace myself “ and I laughed at her!

Anita walked in and spotted Tammy…she went to rush to her, then stopped herself. Rhiannon said “Go to your mate. Hold her. You both need it and we aren’t heartless!” She rushed to Tammy and they fell into each other’s arms. Sobbing gently, Tammy kept saying how sorry she was for dragging her into this. And Anita told her that that’s what love does and she loves her.

I cleared my throat..asking the girls to sit. I said “What you ladies have done, nearly cost the King his life. Was that your goal? Is that how you want to be remembered?” Tammy cleared her own throat and blew her nose.. a tiny voice said “gross” and my eyes widened while Rhiannon giggled.. and I told Micah “I agree” Tammy started talking.. “Two years ago, the kingdom advertised for a nanny for Aurelia.. the Queen was having a difficult pregnancy and they decided they needed help. I had no intention of applying. My father was injured several years back.. when he was forced into a raid our pack had no business taking part in.. he was wounded by a silver blade and nearly died.” Rhiannon said “Much like our King!” And Tammy gasped. “I met Anita here..when I was with the Queen and King for a ball. I wanted to stay with her.. and I knew I would certainly be allowed. But, I couldn’t. My parents and my little sister are in danger. And if Leonard Connors knows I have been captured.. they are probably dead. I applied for the nanny position, because I had no choice. He covered his bases…three of the applicants were being forced by him.. He holds my parents in a cabin at our old pack. He has seven families from Satin Springs Pack.. and all of us have been forced into servitude. He is the one who forced me to spy on the royals. And I begged Anita to put new bugs here..after Donna was arrested. Leonard gave me 48 hours to find a way to spy on Mountain Moon again. I was…am… desperate!”

All of us sat quietly for several minutes. Finally, Edward spoke “What you did, is automatically, a death sentence. Being King, it is within my power to commute that sentence. We are not completely heartless. And I understand there are mitigating situations that had you under duress. What happened to your Alpha?” Tammy responded he had been murdered by Leonard. His head spiked and placed in front of their pack house for thirty days…Edward asked “Is Leonard holed up in Satin Springs?” She nodded. He said “And this cabin.. where is it in conjunction to the pack?” Monty grabbed our map of Satin Springs packlands. She pointed to the area where the cabin is… it butts against the borders on the North.. she tells us “There are three cabins… and all seven remaining families are there.. guarded by twelve men”

Rhiannon says “We rescue them. It’s the only way we can prove her tale. We create a diversion at the south border.. and I take the guards out around the cabins. I can take them down with poisoned arrows… There’s only twelve. I can have them down in five minutes… less if I have help.”

I spoke up “It could work”
