The Last Time I Loved Him (Autumn and Ryan)

Chapter 90

Chapter 6

Ethan's gaze swept over me, filled with a blend of amazement and reproach. I ignored him, turning away to focus on the scenery. To me, they were nothing more than air. "Well, well, look who we have here!"

"Isn't this Mia? What are you doing here? Think makeup makes you prettier? You'll never compare to Alice!"

The company women began jeering one by one.

Alice stepped forward, grabbing my arm. "What's with the act?

You think you're too good for us now?"

I frowned in disgust. "Take your filthy hands off me, or don't blame me for what happens next."

Her expression darkened. "You low-class little thing, let's see how tough you really are!"

With a sharp tug, she yanked my trench coat off, revealing the gown underneath. The room fell silent, stunned by the sight.

The high-fashion white gown hugged my figure perfectly, its fishtail design accentuating my silhouette. Each of the 99 diamonds sewn into the fabric had been handpicked by master jewelers. Under the delicate lighting, the brilliance of the diamonds eclipsed Alice's dress entirely. Unwilling to accept defeat, Alice shoved me again.

"So, who's your sugar daddy? Wearing a dress like this just to show off!"

The others jumped in, their voices a chorus of mockery.

"Of course she's sold herself out! She clung to the boss for so long, and now she's latched onto someone else."

"How disgusting. No wonder she's been missing - busy chasing wealthy men!"

Ethan's face darkened; his fists clenched. "Mia, you've been cheating on me? Who's the man?"

I turned to him with a disdainful smirk. "We're over. Whatever I do is none of your business."

His fist tightened further, as if ready to swing at me, but before he could act, he was shoved aside.

Jacob and Jack stepped forward, flanking me protectively.

"Mia, are you okay?" they asked in unison, their faces etched with concern.

I shook my head. "A fight? Please, you know I have a black belt in Taekwondo. I can handle myself." I tugged at the hem of my dress, adding with a smirk, "The gown's just a bit inconvenient."

Ethan, now leaning against a wall nursing his bruised pride, spat bitterly, "Mia, when did you become so cheap? Being toyed with by two men?"

I turned sharply and slapped him across the face. The sound echoed in the room, leaving him momentarily stunned.

Alice stormed forward, ready to strike me. The company women followed suit, surrounding us and squaring off against the Spencers.

Ethan, still touching the red mark on his cheek, hung back, his face twisted in anger and humiliation.

"Cindy! What do you think you're doing? Do you know what occasion this is?"

Alice hesitated momentarily before snapping, "Dad! Stay out of this! I'm going to teach this woman a lesson today!"

Mr. White grabbed her arm. "Enough! Don't make a scene. The Smith family ceremony is about to start. Let's go inside."

Clearly, this was his first time at such an event, and he was desperate to maintain appearances. With so many influential figures present, his invitation here was a stepping stone for elevating his status- a testament to his years of maneuvering and supporting Ethan. He cast me a condescending glance. "Someone like her isn't worth your trouble. I'll handle this later." He tugged Alice forward, adding coldly, "I'll make sure she wishes she were dead."

A calm voice rang out, followed by a row of bodyguards surrounding them.
