Chapter 83
Chapter 13
The next day, Easton's parents were reported. They were supposed to retire next month, but now they were directly suspended from their jobs.
However, in the following days, Kaylee didn't take advantage of the situation and get back online.
As I wondered why, I suddenly realized that there seemed to be a shadow following me these past few days.
I was working late until 9 PM that day. Since my car was being repaired, I took a taxi home. There was a small road under construction, so the driver dropped me off at the intersection.
As I got out of the car and hadn't walked far, I passed an alley when suddenly I felt a strong pull on my wrist, dragging me inside.
Before I could struggle, a cold voice whispered in my ear, "Don't move. This knife doesn't have eyes."
It was Easton's voice, filled with chilling rage.
That's when I realized a sharp blade was pressed against my neck, and the knife was still dripping with a strong metallic scent of blood.
"Easton, what do you want? Murder will get you the death sentence. It's not something that can be solved with two million,"
I coldly advised.
"Shut up, you slut. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be in this situation. You're the real culprit," Easton said, his emotions spiraling out of control.
"You're wrong. The real culprit is you. If it weren't for your twisted intentions, this wouldn't have happened, and you'd be living a good life," I said, unable to believe he was still trying to shift the blame.
"Amina, what makes you think you're any better? What right do you have to lecture me? If it weren't for you, my parents wouldn't have lost their retirement. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be the public enemy everyone hates. It's all your fault. You ruined me."
Easton's arm tightened around my neck, pinning me to his chest, and he pressed the knife harder against my abdomen.
"Calm down, Easton. You just got out. Every move you make is under police surveillance. If you kill me, you won't get away with it," I tried to reason with him, but Easton only sneered.
"I've already got no way out. Before you, there was already someone who died by this knife."
I froze, my spine going cold at his words.
I thought back, and realized that it had been three days since Kaylee's last accusation. During that time, Kaylee's company had even called me to ask about her schedule.
I couldn't bear to think about it, but cold sweat began to drip down my forehead.
"You killed her?"
I didn't mention Kaylee's name, but Easton chuckled darkly.
"She deserved to die. If it wasn't for her biting back at me, I wouldn't have been caught. I had already decided to let it go, but she wanted to bite into my flesh, using the events from five years ago as a stepping stone to revive her career. She ruined my life completely." "Even if she was wrong, it doesn't deserve death. She was a living person, Easton. You're a monster. You're terrifying."
