The Demeter Twins - Hellhound Sequel

Paulina’s POV ~

We had sent hounds out ahead of us. We wanted them surrounding the perimeter of the compound. Doc and the medics were all in the medivac units.. we brought the triage bus.. and I rode with Perseus and Roman. Brandon and I sat in the back.

Twenty miles from the compound, Perseus pulled alongside the triage bus. They both got out.. and helped me down.

Perseus said “We are leaving fifty warriors here.. with Abraham and Brandon. They are here to protect you! Allow them to do what they do best.. okay?”

I nodded.. with no intention of arguing. I will listen.. for the babies.. and so my men can fight clear headed and safe in the knowledge I am protected.

I kissed them both and hugged Mom and Dad. I whispered “You all better come back to me. I won’t lose anyone else! Be as safe as you can be.. but come back!”

I saw them off.. then went inside the bus. Doc said “They’ll be okay.. Hellhounds are nearly indestructible.. which makes this Alpha Black even dumber. It doesn’t make sense..”

I watched through Ace’s eyes as they raced toward the compound.. the trackers have cut a large whole in the fence.. and our guys were rushing through it.. five at a time.

I pulled back and watched carefully around us.. listening for any out of the ordinary sounds. Abraham whispered “All’s quiet, Paulie.. We won’t hear much of anything for a little while.”

I nodded and said “They have entered the compound.. and Roman is setting up his diversion. There has been a couple little skirmishes with the perimeter guards.. Perseus and Dad took them down, easily enough.”

I kept bouncing between watching my mates.. and listening to my surroundings. Brandon said “If you listen carefully, sounds of battle can be heard..” Just as that left his mouth.. we heard and felt an explosion. Abraham chuckled “That was Roman’s fucking diversion? Blow their entire munitions dump? Damn! That boy’s crazy!”

I faded into Perseus’ eyes and saw him ripping the throat out of a rogue.. Then I glanced to see Roman still in human form.. snapping a neck. Macie and Asmo were tag teaming four rogues at once.

Pulling back, I told Abraham “They’re fighting rogues.. but I haven’t seen any sign of Black. Perseus is working his way to the building.”

Brandon said “The sounds are dying down over there.. Perseus just linked they are heading back this way. Luna, I need you inside the bus, now.”

I stepped inside and Abraham followed. He said “Black wasn’t inside the compound. They think he might be hiding out close by.. So.. we’re going to sit in here for now.. while the warriors keep an eye out.”

Perseus linked me that they think Black is heading our way. I stood and grabbed my saber.. and tucked my daggers into my boots. I yanked the ladder down.. grabbing my bow and arrows.. I climbed through the hatch in the roof of the bus. I dropped to my knees.. nocking an arrow.. I turned in a 360 degree swivel.

Sounds of battle could be heard around the bus. Something hit the side of the bus.. rocking it hard enough, I nearly lost my balance. Looking over the edge, I saw two wolves backing up, to charge at the bus again. I dropped one, with an arrow between his eyes.. and Abraham landed on the back of the other one, snapping his spine.

He jumped up and waded into the mass of rogues and I kept firing off arrows every time I had a clear shot. I heard a voice yell “Get that bitch off that bus” and two men leaped on top of the bus. I drew my saber and squared off.

I spun and swung my saber above my head and slashed downward.. cutting through the entire right side of the rogue. I turned to the second.. just as Roman landed on top of the bus, behind him. He ripped his head off.. and grabbed me.. jumping off the bus. We landed on the ground and he pushed me inside. It happened so fast, it was like one fluid motion.

Doc slapped a blood pressure cuff on my arm, and listened to my stomach.. the babies seemed fine. They were moving around.. and soothing my nerves.. whispering to me.

The sounds of fighting were dying down.. and casualties were finding their ways to the bus. Close to twenty of our people were injured.. but we lost no one. Perseus walked onto the bus.. his eyes frantically searching for me.

I moved to him and he pulled me close. “We have Jack Black in custody. He had taken a couple hundred men and was hiding in a copse of trees east of here.. I knew he would head here… as soon as I realized he wasn’t in the compound.”

Mom came in and started healing, where I had left off. Roman hugged me “I was so scared! I was running to get to you, after Black yelled to get you off the bus. I saw the two jump on the bus.. Even saw you take the first one out. My fear was you falling.”

I held onto him and said “You stopped that from happening. You made it in time, baby. We are all fine. I love you both!” He kissed me.. then Perseus did.

Dad had us all come outside.. he asked “Are we transporting Black back to the pack? I’d like to get that taken care of.” Mom smiled and said “Send him to Dark Shadow with Abraham as his guard. Maybe an hour with the king of Torture will encourage Black to tell us what he knows!”

Roman laughs “He’s going to shit gis britches! Uncle Abraham is scary.. He scares me!”
