The Alpha’s Contract Luna alexia By Lian

Chapter 59

– Alexia –
Chapter 59
“Hear your king! I command you!” Balthasar expressed in his authoritative tone, his eyes studying the surrounding people.
Just as Kieran and Alexia had suggested, King Balthasar revealed himself to the pack members of the Cross River Pack, the
multitude formerly led by Alpha Roland. It was meant to contain the brewing resistance from the locals.
Everyone, including women and children, was gathered in a vast clearing, and the king stood on an elevated platform for
everyone to see.
When Balthasar lifted his chin, Alexia felt her skin crawl. It was as if the king’s aura had cloaked all over her that her knees
turned weak, her head bowing. Literally, every single individual went down on their knees to give respect to the mighty king,
including Kieran and his high-ranking warriors.
Alexia could not move. All she could do was blink and
breathe. Her b*dy responded to the calling of the alpha of all alphas of Taplean. Undoubtedly, King Balthasar’s alpha command
was not something to be undermined. Despite still recovering from poisoning, he managed to force everyone to heed.
“Alpha Kieran did not kidnap me! In fact, he saved me!” The king informed. “It wasn’t long ago that I had fallen ill. When the
accusations about Alpha Kieran came about, I was too weak to address the matter at hand. My wife, Queen Helen, acted on my
behalf and performed the investigation against Alpha Kieran. However, little did I know she had planned to remove Kieran from
the council of alphas so no one could question when I die of a supposed illness.”

“Unknown to me, my wife was plotting to kill me!” King Balthasar growled. He did it so loudly that Alexia thought a soundwave
had forced her b*dy to lean back. It reminded her of Kieran’s alpha command, except the king’s was more potent. She glanced at
her husband, especially the
werewolves of higher ranks. They were also taken aback by the strength of the king’s tone.
“I was poisoned! And that was the cause of the illness!” Balthasar revealed. “The Queen wanted me dead!”
“Blaming Alpha Kieran and his warriors for the attacks in the east and the south was a ploy to keep Taplean’s Hero from
questioning the Queen’s take over of the palace,” Balthasar described. “Knowing Kieran, he would stop at nothing to find out why
I got sick and why my condition had deteriorated in such a way!”
“Yes, I almost died, but Beta Ford requested Kieran to rescue me. Kieran, his friends, and his warriors took me out of the palace
and brought me to a powerful healer,” The king narrated.
“Kieran nearly died, trying to secure a miracle cure for me from the active volcano, Mount Nefarious,” Balthasar reported. “To me,
Kieran was one of those who had saved my life.”
“So do not question Kieran’s presence here. We are using this territory as a place of refuge. You will not be harmed as long as

the queen is not alerted about our presence here,” King Balthasar said. “And Kieran will never harm the innocent.”
“While I am recuperating, no one must leave the pack. Let Kieran’s warriors secure our necessities. Do not invite
visitors, and do not talk about me,” the king ordered. “The queen believes that I am dead. We are safer with her thinking that
way.”
Chapter 39
The king explained to the pack how he planned to return to the palace and remove the queen from power. He assured the Cross
River Pack locals that Kieran would return to his previous title and resume his duties in serving the people, including their pack.
After the king said his piece, he released the people from the trance that held everyone down on their knees. From there, the
king closed, “Listen to me, for I am your king. Cooperate and trust me. When all this is over, I will reward you greatly.”
That was all what the people needed. The residents respected and feared the king, but experiencing his alpha command
reminded them of why he was their ruler in the first place. Indeed, he was above them all.
Days had passed since the king had revealed himself to the Cross River Pack. Their stay had been peaceful, and the people no
longer questioned Kieran. Instead, the pack members trained with the warriors, preparing for a potential battle against the
queen’s forces.
Kieran had been very busy communicating with his warriors stationed in other territories. He also kept in touch with Alpha
Declan, Alpha Kai, and Alpha Baxter. At the same time, he ran with Beta Ford and the king during the night. They trained their
resilience together in their wolf form.
Alexia, on the other hand, busied herself with something else.
The entire pack celebrated every werewolf who would come of age. Melissa was celebrating her birthday together with another
young woman, Kyla. Thus, everyone aided in
preparing a party.
Alexia led the preparation of food. Sadly, it wasn’t as festive as the ones in the Stone Blood Pack, but Alexia made

everyone feel it wasn’t about the gathering’s food or lavishness. It was about how the people were there for Melissa and the

other celebrant.
All werewolves who would come of age face the most excruciating pain of their lives; their first shift. Thus, emotional support was
crucial.
Many members surrounded the celebrants in the same clearing where the pack often gathered for events and announcements.
They were counting down the hours for when the clock would strike twelve.
When Alexia and Kieran arrived, Melissa was already there. Alexia checked the time and noted that it was half an hour to
midnight.
Alexia saw Dean on the opposite side of the circle. Her eyes scanned for Seth and saw him anxiously standing fa rthest from the
celebrants.
Alexia and Kieran settled next to the king and Beta Ford. The king admitted from their seats, “It had been a long time since I
joined such gatherings. You could say being of the palace was good after all.”
Balthasar then leaned over to Alexia and suggested, “Alexia, child. How many months to go before you shift into your wolf form?”
With a smile, Alexia replied, “Three months and three weeks.”
The king nodded and promised, “Then, let’s make sure you celebrate your birthday in your husband’s home. It will be more
memorable that way.”
‘I certainly hope, Alexia said in her head.

After having clearly overheard the king’s probing, Kieran put an arm around Alexia’s shoulder and asked, “I wonder what your
wolf will be like?”
Taking a deep breath, Alexia replied, “I wonder myself. Maybe I’ll have a beautiful light-brown wolf since my hair is brown.”
“It doesn’t always follow. Most of the time, it’s your genes,” Kieran suggested.
“Then, I’m not sure. I don’t know my mother’s wolf form. As for my father, he has a darker coat with white brindles,” Alexia
revealed. She frowned and described, “Not very feminine if you ask me.”

“I’m sure you will be a beautiful wolf,” Kieran assured her. “The same way you are lovely.”
“I sure hope so,” Alexia replied.
She noticed how Melissa was waving at her, and Alexia waved back. Melissa then scanned the crowd as if searching for
someone. Alexia mindlinked, ‘He is here. At the back most.’
Their pack was declared broken by the queen, but the fact remained that they all swore allegiance to Kieran. They could still
mindlink as a group belonging to Kieran’s pack. Only those who moved out of Stone Blood Pack and pledged loyalty elsewhere
lost that bond with Kieran and his people.
‘I see him,’ Melissa said. ‘I am nervous.’
‘Have faith in the Moon Goddess,’ Alexia expressed.
Soon the clock moved closer to midnight. The king said his wishes to the celebrants, and the countdown began. Everyone said
in unison, “Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. Happy Birthday!”
Chapter 39
The moon was bright, endowing Melissa and Kyla. It took seconds, and then, the pain struck. Melissa screamed first. “Aaaahh!”
Alexia saw how she went down on her knees. Melissa’s mouth was wide open, her eyes shut in obvious discomfort.
After a few minutes, Kyla began to scream as well. Their groans in pain seemed endless, and a few family members.
approached to encourage them.
“Look at the moon. The Moon Goddess will give you strength.”
“The pain is only for the first time. You can do it.”
How Alexia wished she could give the same advice, but she had yet to experience shifting in a few months. Soon, everyone
could see how Melissa’s and Kyla’s frames changed.
Suddenly, a howling sound gave Alexia chills down her spine. Her friend, Melissa, finally shifted into her wolf form! She had a
beautiful fawn coat, which Alexia thought was captivating. Alexia was so happy for her friend that a tear formed from the corner
of her eye.
‘I can smell him, Alexia, Melissa mindlinked with her. ‘My mate is here.’
Alexia watched as Melissa frantically turned, sniffing like a mad wolf. When Melissa finally locked eyes with her mate, she ran in
his direction.
Just as they all hoped, Seth was Melissa’s mate. Seth also shifted into his wolf and ran toward Melissa.
Alexia could not hear their conversations, but her friend mindlinked, saying, ‘Seth is my mate! Seth is my mate! Alexia? Did you
hear me?’
‘I hear you! Haha! I’m happy for you, Mel, Alexia replied, smiling in Melissa’s way.
After finding each other, Melissa and Seth ran into the forest. Alexia could only speculate what they were about to do, and she
laughed. She muttered, “Looks like Melissa will have a good night tonight.”

Kieran pressed his l*ps against his ear and said, “Wanna have a good night too?”
“Pfft!” Alexia laughed and replied, “Goddess! I need a rest!”
