The Alpha Bond

Chapter 21

Chapter-21

Cyra

I like her

“Shall we?” He motioned towards the stairs.

“Can I say no and ask you to drop me back to my house?” I asked.

“Haha, no.”

I took a deep breath and murmured alright before following him down the stairs. As soon as we were inside, the platform closed again with a loud thud. We continued to walk down the stairs.

The truth is, I’m extremely scared of what’s going to happen. I know I chose this for myself, but that doesn’t particularly mean that I like it. I’m getting more creeped out with every stair. The rising temperature and blood red walls are not helping either.

I am scared of never being able to see my parents again. I’m scared of not making out of here alive. I am scared of the creatures I’ll see while I’m here. I’m scared that I’m not strong enough. But, I am not showing my fear at all. My father always said that being strong is not having the absence of fear, but having the courage to face your fear. I just really hope I am strong enough to do this.

After walking down thousands of stairs for hours and hours, we finally reached the last step. I saw someone waiting for us at a distance.

“Hades, you’re back! And who do we have here? I thought you were getting Celina or Cyrus, not their daughter.” She exclaimed.

“She insisted to come. I had nothing to do with this,” Hades said defensively.

After that she turned to me and smiled.

“Hello…Cyra, right?” she asked me and I nodded.

“I’m Persephone, Hades’ wife. Welcome to hell! I know this may not be the most welcoming or comfortable place, but I’ll try to make it as comfy as possible for you. If you need anything, just come to me.” She smiled and I smiled back at her.

“She’s here for a mission, not for a vacation,” Hades groaned.

“Oh shut up,” she snapped back at him.

“Thank you,” I said.

Okay that was not what I expected. I thought I’d be like a slave or something. But I’m being treated like a guest, at least for now.

“Okay, come on follow me,” she started walking and we followed her.

We stopped at a vehicle and got in. It was very similar to a car.

“So, hell is kind of like Earth,” I pointed out.

“Oh yes, we develop like earthlings too. Some of the dead earthlings have made great infrastructure and technology for all of us so everything is pretty modern.”

“So how does hell work? Do all dead creatures come here?”

“Yes, all the souls come here and pay for their deeds. The souls have to pay for what they did on Earth and make up for it. After a certain period of time, depending on how many crimes they committed, they are either sent back to Earth in a new body or go to heaven.” She explains.

“How much time does a person spend here averagely?”

“It depends on their crimes and what they did to make up for it. It also on how severe punishments they are willing to take.”

“So this whole place is just to torture souls?” I asked and she chuckled.

“That’s enough for today. For now, we’re here,” Hades pointed out.

I turned my gaze from her to outside the window and gasped. There was an enormous castle, completely red, with black vines and black sculptures covering it.

“Modern, huh?” I asked and Persephone giggled.

“I like her,” she whispered to Hades and he just rolled his eyes.

“Well I guess most of hell is anyway. We still like to keep our house traditional. It holds too many memories.” She said looking at Hades and they smiled.

“You must be hungry. Let’s go, I’ve prepared a welcome feast for you,” Persephone told me.

I returned her smile and followed her inside the castle. I really like Persephone and maybe, just maybe, this won’t be so bad.
