Chapter 675 Being Wronged
"Nancy!"
To say that Charles was furious was an understatement. How could Nancy slander him like this?
Was he really this unimportant to Nancy? Did she not feel even the slightest care for him?
Even so, Nancy only stared at him stubbornly with her head held high. She didn't flinch even when he raised his voice at her.
With a snort, Charles got out of the bed and walked out.
Still in a fit of pique, Nancy lay down on the bed and wondered if she had wronged Charles.
But if it that was the case, then who was behind all this?
No matter how hard she tried to think about it, she still couldn't figure it out. So she just stopped thinking and covered her head with the quilt to sleep.
On the next morning, Bobby sneaked into their bedroom, only to be disappointed with what he saw.
There was only one person in the room, and that was Nancy, which only meant that she slept alone last night.
With a sigh, he turned around to walk out of the room, but he saw Nadia standing at the door.
Looking at Bobby's facial expression, Nadia asked, "Bobby, isn't Daddy in the bedroom?"
"You're right. Daddy didn't sleep with Mommy." Last night, Charles told him that he would share a room with Nancy, but it wasn't what happened.
So both the children had a heavy heart. "Why? Is there really something wrong between Mommy and Daddy's relationship?"
After thinking for a while, Bobby said like an adult, "The only problem with their relationship is third party. Nadia, let's try to meet Brandy today!"
Without hesitation, Nadia nodded her head. "Okay, I will listen to you."
The aroma of food Nancy was expecting to smell as soon as she woke up wasn't there, so she guessed that Charles was still angry and was probably not in the mood to make breakfast. Thinking of this, she got up to brush her teeth and went straight to the kitchen after.
It was easy to make breakfast. Although the food she cooked was not as good as Charles', it was still edible.
The breakfast had been served when Charles got up.
Soon, the children followed in the dining room.
However, Bobby refused in his heart when he saw toasts and fried eggs on the table.
How could his Mommy be so stupid? Why didn't she try something else?
Contrary to what Bobby was thinking, he exaggeratedly said, "Wow, Mommy is awesome! You have prepared the breakfast so early."
"Yeah, so, are we happy?" A smile spread across Charles' face.
Today, he looked like a spring breeze, as if nothing unpleasant had happened last night.
"Mommy is capable, so is Daddy!" After washing her hands, Nadia sat down beside Bobby.
"You... Well, Mommy just happened to wake up early today, so..." This praise came a little sudden, so Nancy felt uneasy.
When she stole a glance at Charles, she found no trace of unhappiness on his face.
Sure enough, Charles was quick to change his facial expressions.
Or maybe he just pretended to love her in front of the kids.
Not wanting to affect the children, Nancy sat down and distributed the bread. As usual, only the kids were lively while they ate. After breakfast, Charles was still responsible for taking the children to the kindergarten.
On the other hand, Nancy drove straight to the hospital.
As soon as he sent the children to the kindergarten and was about to drive to the company, he received a call from Jay.
It took a short while before he decided to pick up the phone. He guessed that Jay might still be in the police station now.
"Charles, am I your good friend? How can you eat and sleep well, knowing that I am miserable here? Won't you try to get me out of here?" Sadness was evident in Jay 's voice.
"It's not that I don't want to help you. I just couldn't do anything about it anymore." I can't change Pam's mind."
There was no way he could force Pam when she didn't want to do him a favor. As for Eva... It was really heartbreaking to see her in such situation.
Therefore, Charles couldn't use any tough means in this matter.
"Then who will help me?" Last night, Jay was not able to fall asleep. He was staring at the bleak room, thinking about Doris and Ace. The more he thought about them, the sadder he became. He badly wanted to come home to his wife and son.
"Well, you can ask Doris. Maybe she can convince Pam to compromise." There was nothing else left for them to do but to ask Doris for help.
At the mention of Doris' name, Jay felt even more helpless. "Doris doesn't want to talk to me anymore!"
Knowing him, Charles had already figured out the reason why she refused to talk to him even if Jay hadn't told him yet. "That's because you didn't tell her the truth. Once you tell her the truth, I don't believe tha Doris won't help you."
"I...I... Well, I'll give it a try. If Doris doesn't help me, you can't just leave me here." The longer Jay stayed in the police station, the more he felt hopeless.
"Well, if Doris doesn't help you, I think you'd better stay there for the rest of your life. The evils you bring on yourself are the hardest to bear. It's your own fault!" With a sneer, Charles hung up the phone. The call had already ended but Jay was still staring at the phone in his hand.
At that time, he was still very young. He didn't expect that a date would cause such a big trouble.
The policeman looked at Jay when he still didn't give back the phone.
When Jay noticed the policeman, he immediately smiled and said, "Sir, can I make another call? Just one more call."
His fake smile made him uglier than when he was crying.
The policeman only sighed. "Okay, just one more call, Mr. Fang."
"Okay." In a hurry, Jay dialed Doris' number.
As the phone rang, he prayed in his heart that Doris would be kind enough to answer his call.
He could only hope that she was not as angry as she was when she left the police station. But how could she not be mad after learning that he was climbing someone else's wall while she was wide awake the whole night, searching for him by the Pine River?
It was understandable that she was surprised that her husband climbed a wall and was taken as a thief.
What was more surprising was that he didn't steal anything, and was caught by the police like this confusedly.
Was there something wrong with Jay's brain?
Why was it so difficult to understand what he had done?
Although Doris was angry, she was open-minded. She still tried her best to understand him. Maybe that was why she still had a good sleep last night.
The New Year was coming, so it meant Doris had to go back to work soon. Therefore, when she woke up the next morning, she prepared for a visit to the hospital. But when she was having breakfast, she received a sudden call.
Seeing the police's name on the screen surprised her a little, but she quickly got over it when she remembered Jay.
At first, she didn't intend to answer it, but it kept ringing that it made her impatient.
"Jay, you should just stay inside. Why are you calling me?" Aren't you a thief? How wonderful it is! You are awesome. You can stay there for the rest of your life."
Knowing that Jay couldn't provoke Doris at this moment, he let Doris talked nonsense for a long time and just smiled fawningly. "Honey, don't be angry. I'm telling you the truth. I didn't steal anything. I really didn't. I just went to Su family's house to see Eva..."
"Who is Eva?" It was the first time that Doris heard this name.
"Eva is one of my friends. She had a car accident a few years ago and has been in a coma until now. As her friend, of course I should go to see her. But her mother didn't allow me to do that, so I climbed over the wall. This is the truth. You have to trust me." Obviously, Jay was not telling the whole truth.
"Eva... Is she a woman?" It was somehow weird for Doris that she disliked this name as soon as she heard it.
Could a woman who made Jay climb over the wall in the middle of the night be just an ordinary friend to him? It seemed inappropriate.
But what was the relationship between Jay and that woman?
Were they ex-lovers?
