Spoiled By My Once Vegetative Husband

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

By the time Yvette woke up, it was already the next day. She turned around and froze upon noticing that a man was lying next to her.

*I’m married, and I’m now the daughter-in-law of the Luxford family!” she reminded herself inwardly.

She took a deep breath before scrutinizing the man’s side profile.

“He hasn’t moved for the entire night. He’s truly a vegetative person, unable to do anything but breathe, she thought.

Yvette found it hard to believe that she had slept beside a stranger for the entire night and even slept strangely well.

Perhaps because she knew that he posed no danger or because she had gone through the tragedy that had fallen upon the Towell family, she let her guard down in this place of refuge – the Luxford residence.

She got out of bed and changed her clothes before entering the bathroom to freshen up.

When she came out, she took one look at the person on the bed and bat her lip. Then, she turned to head back into the bathroom to fetch a towel.

Having lived a wealthy life for twenty years, this was her first time taking care of someone. Although she initially thought she would never want to marry after her family’s tragedy, she was satisfied with her current haven

After casually wiping Joshua’s face and hands, she turned and headed downstairs.

By then, the entire Luxford family had already gotten up. She only discovered after walking closer that Yosef’s family, who lived elsewhere, had also come over.

“Do they have to come by just to have tea?” she wondered.

As her father was an avid tea drinker when he was alive, Yvette had learned the proper way of brewing tea. She knew that Hendrick’s eyes were glued to her the moment she came downstairs, but she chose to pretend not to notice..

Once the tea was ready, she poured some for William before placing another cup in front of Lauren. “Please have some tea.

Mom.

Lauren smiled as she pulled her daughter-in-law’s hand closer and moved her crystalline bracelet onto the latter’s wrist. “Have a seat. Such rules don’t exist in the Luxford family, so you need not get up early to do this for us,” she reassured.

No matter what, Yvette was considered lucky to have a kind mother-in-law who was possibly treating her well on behalf of her son to win her over.

“Thank you,

Mon

While staring at the luxurious-looking bracelet, she wondered if it was a family heirloom and if it was worth around 4.5 million dollars.

After breakfast, she finally had some free time.

Besides taking care of Joshua, she lived the same comfortable life as she did at the Towell residence.

Yvette found a few remaining comics in Joshua’s study and relaxed in the rose garden downstairs.

Sunlight seeped through the thick rose branches and blanketed her face along with the book.

Sitting under the shade of a tree in the early August morning left Yvette feeling cool and refreshed. At the thought that she would spend the rest of her life living comfortably within the walls of this courtyard, she could not help but curl her lips. into a smile.

“Since the Towell family is no more, there’s no need to make a fuss or feel bitter over it. It’s not easy to be alive, not to mention not needing to earn a living. I have an obedient’ husband, a considerate mother-in-law, and, more importantly, money that I can spend endlessly. Isn’t this the kind of marriage that every woman dreams of?”

At that thought. Yvette slowly drifted to sleep. A hand traveled up her shoulder and collarbone before reaching her face in her dream.

The woman seated on the chair made of bamboo was startled awake. After removing the book from her face and coming face-to-face with the shocked Hendrick, the look in her eyes instantly darkened.

Hendrick did not expect her to wake up suddenly and became bold again after recovering from the shock.

He walked forward with a smile. “I notice that you’re wearing thin clothes and was afraid that you’ll catch a cold, so I was just trying to warm you up.”

“How is he planning to warm me up? With his hands or his body?” she thought.
