Chapter 41

Beep… Kira struggled to open her eyes. Beep… She instantly wished that she hadn’t. The bright light blinded her. Beep… and what the hell was that noise? She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. She started to panic. Domascus?

I’m here... Kira heard in her mind. She felt him squeeze her hand. As her eyes focused she could see him sitting there. His wavy brown hair was a mess and he had a bandage on his forehead. His blue eyes looked tired as she asked, where are we?

In a hospital on Earth. He replied.

We made it? She asked as he felt her sigh.

Yes love, we made it. Just rest now and gather your strength. He kissed her hand as the doctor came walking in.

“Oh, wonderful. You’re awake.” She said with pride. “You should still be in bed sir.” She scolded.

“I’ve had a concussion before miss. I needed to be here when she woke up.” He replied.

“Yes, of course. I understand.” The doctor smiled.

“So, how bad is it?” He asked.

“Cat scan showed no extensive damage to her brain but it’s going to take time for her motor skills to come back.” She replied.

“That’s good.” He looked at Kira and smiled.

“We have her blood work back as well. In a bit of good news, you’re six weeks along. We’ll run a few more tests but I’m sure that the baby is fine.” She added.

Kira started to cry. She was so overjoyed that she wanted to shout. We’re having a family… she squeezed his hand. Yes we are love. He smiled and kissed her hand.

“I’ll give you two some more time. But then I expect you both to rest.” The doctor scolded and let them be.

You need to concentrate on healing the body you were given. He spoke.

“I’ll be ok.” She choked out unsure of her own voice.

“Yes, we will.” He kissed her forehead. “Rest well my love. We have much to learn when you’re ready.”
