Singularity

Chapter 33

Sephiroth waited for Kira and Domascus to sleep and then snuck quietly out of the castle. He took a horse and rode out well past the guardian’s protective eye. He tethered the horse in the barn of his orchard home and then tore open a portal. When he stepped through Michalei was waiting on the other side.

“It’s all true and it’s worse than we ever could have imagined.” Sephiroth howled as he threw his cane against the wall in anger.

“What did you see?” Michalei asked.

“The guardians were fooled. I can come and go at will. But she did unite with Domascus. He has full use of everything that she is and the same goes for her accessing his power.” Sephiroth paced.

“That ancient son of a bitch took my daughters innocence today. We have to kill him before his seed takes to her. Or I fear we will lose her forever and it’ll damn Avalon and us all with it.” He said angrily.

“Did you get me the book that describes the guardian ritual?” Michalei asked.

“Not yet, I’m trying to figure out how to get it out of Avalon without anyone or anything sensing it. But I will get it to you. This has to end and the sooner you manage that, the faster I’ll have my daughter back.” Sephiroth stated.

“You have my word my king. I will fix this. You get back before you’re missed. I’ll be here waiting.” Michalei stated.

Sephiroth nodded and left Credos in a rush. He then took his horse, filled a basket with fresh apples and returned to Avalon without raising any suspicion from the guardians. He left the basket on the kitchen counter and retired to his bed for the rest of the evening.

Kira couldn’t bring herself to sleep any longer. Domascus looked peaceful, sleeping comfortably beside her. She didn’t have the heart to wake him, so she slipped quietly out of bed. She pulled her clothes on and then made her way out into the hall. She went to the kitchen poured herself a cup of coffee, saw the apples and smiled as she was reminded of simpler days. Her father sat down beside her. As she day dreamed, he poured himself a cup of coffee.

“Morning papa.” She sighed.

“Good morning daughter. No Domascus hovering over you this morning?” He asked.

“You’re still not happy about it are you papa.” She replied.

“No Kira. I don’t like it one bit. But you’re still my daughter.” He sighed.

“Give him a chance and you’ll see the good he is capable of.” She smiled.

“I’m sure,” He smiled back as Domascus walked up behind them.

He kissed the top of Kira’s head and sat down beside her. “Good morning love, good morning sir.”

“Morning son.” Sephiroth muttered.

“Hi,” Kira kissed him and passed him a coffee cup. “Rest well?”

“I did.” He smiled and poured his coffee. “Any news on Michalei?”

“I met with my contacts last night. There’s word that he’s in the Credos area since that’s where he grew up. I’ll have more information tonight.” Sephiroth replied.

“Well, that’s a start.” Kira smiled.

“Speaking of starts, I should get moving.” Sephiroth smiled and stood. “You two have a good morning. I’ll see you for supper.”

“You too papa.” She smiled and kissed his cheek.

Domascus leapt from his chair, “Sir.”

Sephiroth gave him a weak smile and walked away.

Domascus hit his chair hard and sighed. “He hates me.”

“I don’t,” She said taking his hand.

“No, you don’t, silly girl.” He smiled.

“Why don’t we do something special for the people? Once they see how wonderful you really are everyone can rest easy.” She said softly.

“You don’t need to work so hard to redeem my faults love. But if you wish it, I’ll do whatever you ask of me.” He replied.

“I feel a festival celebrating our union and the health of Avalon would do wonders to lift everyone’s spirits.” She smiled.

“I do believe you’re right on this one darling.” He chuckled.

“Awesome!” She exclaimed. “I’ll send word out by royal courier. Then we can discuss exactly what we want to do for it.”

“Whatever makes you happy Kira.” He kissed her hand. “You just tell me what to aim at and I’ll make it happen for you.”

“Oh,” She perked up. “You know what I’d like right about now?” She asked.

“Decaffeinated coffee?” He joked and got punched in the arm.

“Oh you are so not getting away with that.” He laughed and picked her up throwing her over his shoulder.

Domascus whisked Kira away. He carried her up the stairs, into the bedroom and threw her on the bed. There they stayed and made love well into the hours of the day.
