Shaw froze."Are you angry?"
Julia shook her head."No."
Shaw thought she was upset about Sierra being the flight attendant.
"Sierra was away for five years. You should give her some time to get used to it instead of pressuring her."
Nulia wanted to laugh. She got injured because of Sierra, and Shaw blamed her for being hard on
Sierra. Wasn't it ironic? Fine, this was their final flight...
She said nothing. She was leaving; explaining was useless.
After a 13-hour flight, the plane landed safely in San Francisco.
The next day, Shaw took Julia to Alaska to see the Northern Lights. Seeing Sierra and other colleagues, Julia's excitement vanished.
Shaw noticed that."It's more fun, isn't it? And it's safer to travel with more people." Julia said, "Whatever you say."
At the viewing point, the aurora danced across the sky. Sierra's voice rang out."Shaw, the first time we saw the Northern Lights, we had a fight. You swore you'd take me here again. Thank you for remembering that." Julia saw Sierra and Shaw standing together. His eyes were filled with affection.
"I never forgot that," Shaw said.
Julia's heart ached. It turned out that she was the extra one.
Under the aurora, Julia turned and left. Snow fell, wetting her hair and collar. She walked on numbly.
Two days later, they returned to Chicago. Julia went to Director Thompson's office and handed him her badge.
"My last flight is over. Your instructions, please."
Thompson smiled, placing her badge in a disposal bag and handing her a new one. He also gave her a four-stripe epaulette.
