Saying Goodbye to My Troubles (Nydia and Mick)

Chapter Saying Goodbye To My Troubles 73

Chapter 73

Nydia was stunned. After all these years, she had never realized just how oblivious Mick was. His lack of perception was almost unbelievable.

She couldn't help but wonder whether she hadn't been clear enough earlier, or if the staff at the divorce registry had failed to explain it properly. "Mick, I think you misunderstood. I just want to take my things."

Her mentor had advised her to continue her doctoral studies, but she had given that up to be with Mick. All these years, she had felt guilty about abandoning her mentor's advice, so she attached great importance to the gifts her mentor had given her. Mick frowned and glanced at her again.

He probably didn't see anything on her face that he was looking for, so he stood up and slowly walked over to her, placing his hands on her shoulder.

He moved in closer. "Nydia, today I'm making a concession, you should appreciate it. Besides, I don't want to bring up the reason you married me. Let's just pretend we're starting over."

Nydia suddenly felt a disconnect between them. She had tried to explain herself, but he was pretending not to understand. Frustrated, she directly asked, "Starting over with me? What about Mona?"

Mick smiled again, looking rather smug. "I knew it, you're still jealous. Alright, let me say it again. Mona and I had a past, but now, we're just friends."

She bit her lip. "Do you even believe

that?

"Are you still mad?" he asked, his tone much lighter now. Mick continued, "Taking you to meet my friends, isn't that compensation enough?"

Nydia shot back, "Are your friends some rare species? Will meeting them add ten years to my life?"

Mick's expression slowly darkened. Nydia continued, "I don't care if you understand or not, but now, immediately open the study. If you don't do it in five minutes, don't blame me for being rude." This statement seemed to amuse Mick, causing him to laugh. "You're going to be rude? What else could you possibly do?"

As he spoke, Mick pulled Nydia into a tight embrace. "Your behavior today has made me very unhappy. So, don't cause any more trouble."

Nydia's expression remained calm. "Three minutes left."

She then forcefully pushed him away, stepping back, her posture defensive and alert.

Chapter 3)

Mick clenched his jaw, his eyes cold. "Are you trying to provoke me?"

He took a slow step forward, tugging at his tie. Before Nydia could react, he grabbed her and pulled her into his embrace, locking her in with a kiss that felt more like a punishment. Nydia had never imagined she would come to hate Mick this much. The mere thought of him touching her made her feel disgusted.

"Let go!" she shouted, pushing with all her strength.

But his grip tightened on her wrist, and she was pinned against the wall, trapped within his arms. "If you don't want to leave, I'll stay with you, Nydia," Mick murmured.

His voice carried a tension as if he were holding back some deeper emotion.

Nydia's heart skipped a beat.

She wondered why the bodyguards hadn't come in yet. She was about to be trapped in this situation with no way out.

Mick had never been gentle with her. He had never cared about her feelings. After every intimate encounter, he would simply light a cigarette, completely ignoring the fact that she hated the smell. Nydia had no interest in such matters. She found them repulsive. At this point, she could only console herself by thinking of it as if she were being bitten by a dog. But...
