Saying Goodbye to My Troubles (Nydia and Mick)

Chapter My Troubles 18

Chapter 18

Mick waved his hand toward the surrounding crowd, and what had appeared to be ordinary bystanders suddenly closed in. His bodyguards encircled Nydia, Nelson, and Norman tightly. Nydia's expression darkened. "What are you trying to do?"

Mick's cold gaze landed on her. "Isn't this what you've been aiming for all along? To get back by my side? Fine, I grant your wish."

Nelson immediately stepped forward, shielding Nydia and Norman behind him. "Mr. Wilcher, this is a lawful society. Don't do anything rash."

"My conversation with my wife doesn't require your input." Mick waved a hand, and his bodyguards moved in without hesitation.

Nelson had some self-defense skills but was no match for trained professionals. Within moments, the bodyguards had him pinned, immobilizing him entirely.

"Mr. Mcbride!" Norman cried out in panic. He tried to rush to help but was stopped by Nydia's firm grip.

Mick's voice dripped with menace. "Nydia, my patience is wearing thin. You'd better stop making a scene, or I can't guarantee your new boyfriend won't end up crippled."

Nydia felt a deep wave of disgust for Mick for the first time. She couldn't fathom how she had ever been blind enough to love someone so controlling and disrespectful.

Nelson managed to shake his head slightly. "Nydia, take Norman and leave. I'll be fine."

Sensing the situation spiraling out of control, Mona interjected, "Mick, Nydia realizes her mistake now. Let it go. There's no need to make things difficult for Dr. McBride. If Nydia gets angry again, you'll end up arguing more. Mick's fury only deepened. "Take Nelson away. Leave him breathing, but just barely."

"Got it!"

"Wait!" Nydia knew Mick was capable of following through on his threats. Nelson was only in this mess because of her.

"Mick, what do you want from me to let them go?"

"That's simple. Drop the kid and come back with me."

"Not a chance. Norman stays with me."

Mick sneered. "Fine. Then take the kid and toss him in the lake."

His bodyguards moved swiftly, reaching for Norman. Nydia turned to flee, but there was no

escape from the tightening circle. One of the bodyguards took advantage of ho

and grabbed hold of Norman's arm.

"Let go! That hurts." Norman struggled fiercely, tears streaming down his face.

Nydia tried desperately to push the bodyguard away, but her strength did not match his. Seeing that Norman was about to be taken away Nydia's veins bulged at her temples, her eyes turned bloodshot, and she looked as if she was ready to kill. "Stop it!"

At that critical moment, a pained scream erupted from the bodyguard holding Norman. He suddenly released Norman and stumbled backward.

Nydia pulled Norman into her arms, inspecting him anxiously for any injuries. However, Norman was staring wide-eyed over her shoulder, momentarily too stunned to cry. "Uncle Eddie?"

Nydia froze, lifting her gaze cautiously.

The bodyguard who had been injured lay curled up on the ground, drenched in sweat, and unable to move. The others were subdued by a group of men dressed in black, their precision leaving no room for resistance.

By Mick's side stood two men radiating an aura of pure danger, ensuring he didn't dare move recklessly.

Nydia felt a strange pull and instinctively turned to look behind her.

Eddie stood at the intersection of light and shadow. His cold, striking features carried a lethal edge, exuding an aura that silenced everything around him.

As he stepped closer, the stark black of his attire made him appear as though he had emerged from the very depths of darkness itself, a man marked by its embrace.

Even his piercing gaze, sharp as a blade, held a depth of ink-like blackness, thick and impenetrable. The energy he carried was chilling a barely restrained ferocity that spoke of bloodshed and violence held at bay.

He merely raised a hand, and the men in black moved swiftly, leaving Mick's bodyguards utterly defenseless.

Nydia quickly picked up Norman and held him tightly in her arms. "Mr. Houle?"

She was surprised to see that Eddie had returned.

She remembered he was supposed to be overseas, and Nydia had been taking care of Norman for a month. But now, he was suddenly back.

Looking around, she finally noticed the amusement park had been cleared, There were no

other visitors left-just their group.

"Mr. Houle?" Mick finally recognized the man after hearing Nydia speak his name. His face. was drained of color as panic seeped into his expression.

After all, the Houle family name was legendary, and Eddie was said to hold absolute power over life and death. In Mick's social stratum, someone like Eddie was an untouchable apex predator.

"Are you hurt?" Eddie ignored Mick completely, addressing Nydia with concern.

Nydia shook her head. "I'm fine."

"Good. Then come with me."

As Eddie finished speaking, Mick's anxiety grew. "Wait, Mr. Houle, she's my wife. I'm taking

her back with me.'

Eddie finally spared him a glance-a look so sharp it felt like an army of blades cutting through the air. Mick felt an instinctive chill of fear.

"You have two choices. You die, or you walk away without her. Pick one." His voice was quiet, but it was like a blade poised directly above Mick's head, ready to fall at any moment.

The air froze, thick with tension.

Mick, who just moments ago brimmed with rage and confidence, now looked utterly deflated.

"Let's go," Eddie said, turning his attention back to Nydia.

The heavy atmosphere lightened, as though a storm had just passed.

Nydia hesitated. "But my friend."

Eddie glanced briefly to the side, and one of his men immediately stepped forward to release Nelson. Nelson tried to step forward, but the man blocked his path. When he tried to speak, the man whispered something to him, and suddenly, Nelson couldn't say a single word.

Holding Norman tightly, Nydia climbed into the car. Before long, the car entered the mysterious upscale neighborhood of Elipus. This exclusive enclave consisted of only five large villas, each covering an expansive area, almost like a small private mansion. The car drove into Eaglewood Mansion.

As Nydia stepped out of the car, she couldn't help but stare at the lush landscape, where pagodas and pavilions were strategically placed, giving off a distinct garden style.

A sudden thought crossed her mind. She was determined to compete with the wealthy.

"Mr. Houle, I've brought Norman back, so I'll just go ahead and...

"I need your help with something."

Nydia was taken aback. Before she could ask, Norman had already dragged her into the villa." Max, Max, what's wrong with you, Max?"

When Norman entered, he had planned to show her around the luxurious yet plain house. But he found Max lying in the living room, looking sluggish and clearly unwell.

Eddie walked in after him, his tone calm. "Can you help check on Max?"

Nydia was shocked, her mouth slightly open. "Mr. Houle, I'm not a vet."

Eddie nodded as if he expected that answer. "But I only trust you."

Just as he had trusted her before, back when she lived abroad. He had given her the same respect and equality,

Nydia didn't know how to respond to that. She sighed. Some things were just out of her

control.

"How long has Max been like this?"

"An hour."

When Nydia studied medicine, most of her experiments were on animals, so she was somewhat familiar with veterinary care. After a careful examination, she concluded. "He ate too much." Eddie didn't seem surprised. He sat on the couch, his aristocratic aura emanating from him effortlessly.

"Then I'll leave it to you, Dr. Vega.

Nydia was at a loss for words. She wrote down a few medications for s give to Max.

Soon enough, Max was feeling better.

"Ms. Vega, I'm so tired. Can you come with me to bed?"

Norman had been through quite a scare that day and had stayed up late caring for Max. He was already too exhausted to stay awake.

As soon as he finished speaking, without giving Nydia a chance to refuse, he snuggled into her arms and fell asleep. Chappe
