Chapter Justice
The cells of the High Tech Secure Prison facility in Sanctuary were silent as Roisin walked past them. She was heading to the most secure cell ever constructed in Crystalla. The cell of Varla Reins.
As she made her way down the long white corridor, heavily armed security guards opened the door to where Varla's cell was using several types of biometric identification. A hug steel door slid open as Roisin walked inside.
The whole cell was visible from the observation area, and several high yield laser turrets stood in several spots in the room. Varla was sat at her desk, writing away. She turned to see Roisin and rolled her eyes.
"I have nothing to say to you" Varla grunted.
"You were more talkative when it was I who was behind an energy shield" Roisin smirked.
"Huh?" Varla shrugged. "I don't even know you" She added.
"Oh yeah" Roisin snorted. "That's right, we were just talk to a mechanical version of you back then" She chuckled. "Still as disgusting as the real thing, though" Roisin shrugged.
"Do you get your kicks out of taunting people who can't fight back?" Varla asked.
"HAH!" Roisin exclaimed. "Very rich of you to say something like that" She laughed.
"I would destroy you, any day, if this energy shield wasn't here" Varla rolled her eyes.
"You really do not know who I am, I guess" Roisin shrugged.
"Why did you come here?" Varla asked.
"Closure" Roisin stated.
"How therapeutic" Varla sighed.
"It was" Roisin said.
"Was?" Varla asked, raising her eyebrow.
"We terminated the drone copies of you, all of them" Roisin smiled.
"All of them?" Varla asked.
"Well, except one" Roisin nodded.
"You'll regret sparing one" Varla chuckled.
"No" Roisin shook her head, before pulling a remote from her pocket. "I don't think I will" She grinned, as she pressed the button, one of the thick steel walls that surrounded the chamber, was exposed as a hologram, and behind was an identical cell, with another Varla inside.
"What is this?" Varla asked, walking over to the far wall and putting her hands on the perspex wall.
"I thought, it was inhumane, leaving you down here alone, with no company" Roisin explained. "So, I gave you the only company you couldn't hate... your own" She shrugged.
"But why?" Varla grunted.
"It's justice" Roisin stated. "You murdered, tortured, oppressed you whole life. You never had a real reason for doing so. Despite that, we let you live, in a pretty comfortable cell too. You will spend the rest of your life with only yourself, literally, for company, you will grow old here, and you will die here, you will never see the light of day. Your name will fade into history, your Empire will be a mere footnote, no one will remember you" Roisin growled.
"I gotta admit, when I saw you walk in here, I thought you were gonna be a push over" Varla clapped, and grinned from ear to ear. "But you have a dark side, girl. Embrace it" She laughed.
"I already did, we all have a dark side, Varla. We all hear the call of the void. The difference is, we take that darkness, and we channel it into light, we don't give into it, those who do are weak willed. I would never become like you, Varla. I fight for something other than myself" Roisin explained, before turning to leave, as Roisin was about to step out of the door, Varla laughed.
"That will only get you killed girl" She cackled. Roisin turned to look over her shoulder at Varla one final time.
"Maybe, but that is a price that I am willing to pay" She shrugged, before walking through the door. Varla watched as Roisin walked into the bright white light of the corridor, before the thick door slid shut. Leaving her in the dim
