Chapter 129 Whose Jacket Is This
Elsa collapsed weakly against Jeremiah, unable to control her sobs.
With my cold and composed expression, it almost looked like I was bullying her.
"It's not Jane's fault. I'm the one who wanted to kneel. I just really want to make her feel better." Jeremiah snorted in response. "Why bother explaining? If she doesn't believe you, then forget it."
"Let's go!" Jeremiah wrapped his arm around Elsa's shoulders and coldly said those words before turning to leave.
"Wait."
Hearing my voice, both Jeremiah and Elsa turned around. Jeremiah raised an eyebrow as he sported a proud look on his face. It seemed like he had been waiting for me to back down.
But Elsa, standing next to him, looked nervous as if she feared I might do something to steal Jeremiah away from her.
"Take Elsa with you today, and don't ever come looking for me again. Even if the Cornells force you, I won't ever look at you again."
As Jeremiah's gaze flickered for a moment, I stepped forward and moved close to Elsa.
In a voice only she could hear, I said slowly, "I don't settle for anything second-rate. If you like him so much, then he's all yours. Make sure to appreciate him."
After leaving the restaurant, I called my private investigator to confirm he had captured the photos I needed. Once I heard everything was in order, I finally relaxed and enjoyed the calm as I strolled down the path outside the restaurant.
"What are you doing out here alone?" A familiar voice came from behind me.
I turned to see Eric, his eyes filled with amusement. "What are you doing here? Did you install a tracker on me?"
Eric smiled and nodded, stepping closer. He draped his jacket over my shoulders.
"It's cold outside. You should have worn more clothes. I was just over here for business, and I happened to run into you."
Eric's gaze flickered for a moment before he continued, "I saw you walking into the restaurant with Jeremiah earlier. You two—"
I quickly interjected, "There's nothing
going on between us. Elsa showed
up later. I was just gathering some material for the upcoming court case. The more intimate Jeremiah and Elsa are seen together, the higher the chances of my divorce case succeeding."
After explaining quickly, I realized had spoken too fast, and my face flushed with embarrassment. I looked up and met Eric's amused gaze.
Rovela
"I haven't even asked yet, and you're already explaining so much."
I gave an awkward laugh to ease the tension. "I just wanted to save you the trouble of asking."
Eric chuckled before becoming serious again. "Still, for your own safety, you shouldn't go out alone with Jeremiah anymore."
I nodded, feeling touched by his concern.
"Jane!" Levi's voice broke the strange atmosphere between Eric and me.
As soon as Eric saw him approaching, his expression darkened. "Why is he here?"
Levi smiled brightly as he got closer, but Eric subtly moved a little closer to me, keeping an eye on him with suspicion.
I said, "He said he was nearby and could give me a ride, so I let him come over."
I couldn't help but feel helpless. In this tense situation with the two of them, I was the only one suffering.
Levi's cheerful steps faltered as
soon as he saw Eric standing next to
me, and he quickly walked over with a resigned expression. "Jane why is guy here?"
this
I could only smile awkwardly. "It's just a coincidence. Really, just a coincidence."
Levi scoffed, then noticed the jacket draped over my shoulders. He reached for it and asked, "Whose jacket is this? It's so tacky."
