Chapter 121 You're the Only Sister I Have
For the past week, Levi and I had been living in the studio, almost submerged in work.
Although we hadn't fully settled into a routine yet, the scattered tasks kept us too busy to take a break.
The only time we could truly unwind was when we went home at night. Of course, that was if I ignored the constant bickering between Levi and Eric.
During this time, Mom called, asking me to come home for dinner. I used work as an excuse to avoid it.
There was no other reason—I simply didn't want to go. Mom had mentioned that members of the Cornell family would also be there.
In the past, I was just a tool for the Cornell family's marriage alliance. Now, with LunaGlo, it seemed my status had been upgraded, and they wouldn't let go so easily.
Unfortunately, Jack didn't seem to share my desire to avoid the situation.
After a long day in the studio with Levi, we finally wrapped up the designer selection. When I opened the door to the studio, I was greeted by Jack standing sternly in the doorway. Behind him stood Elsa, looking as innocent as ever.
When I saw them, I didn't say a word but simply observed.
Jack was the first to speak, clearly unable to hold back. "Go home."
"I'm not going." I sidestepped and walked past them.
Elsa grabbed my arm. "Jane, could you please stop being so stubborn? Jeremiah and Mrs. Cornell are there. It's an important occasion. You should really show up."
I sneered. It seemed the Cornells couldn't wait any longer.
If they were making such a big deal out of it, it would make me look petty if I didn't go. "Well, let's go, then."
I turned back to Levi, who looked concerned. "You should head home first."
Levi hesitated. "Jane, you..."
I smiled reassuringly. "It's fine."
After saying that, I followed Jack downstairs and got into the car. Inside the car, Jack scrutinized me, his expression filled with disdain.
"You've been dodging Mom's invitations earlier, and now, you're going back? You really are something." Elsa tugged at Jack's sleeve. "Stop it, Jack. I think Jane just wants to find a way out."
Then, she looked at me with concern. "Jane, I know you're mad at me, which is why you're acting like this toward the Cornell family. Please don't be upset. Can we just move on?"
I scoffed. "Move on? You say move on like it's that simple. You think you're so important?"
With those words, Elsa's eyes instantly filled with tears, and her voice trembled with hurt. She subtly leaned toward Jack, triggering his instinctive protective side.
"Why are you yelling at her? What did she say wrong? Look at you, insisting on getting a divorce and starting a business, making a mess of everything at home."
Jack stared coldly at me, his hand raised as if to slap me, but when his eyes caught the driver in the front. seat, he quickly lowered it. "If Mom and Dad weren't always protecting you, would've taught you a lesson by now!"

I looked at the close bond between Jack and Elsa, my lips curling into a sarcastic smile. "I don't know what's wrong with Mom. How did she not give you any common sense when she had you?"
My gaze lingered on the intertwined hands of Jack and Elsa. When Jack noticed, he quickly let go, his eyes darting away in discomfort.
Seeing Jack's sudden discomfort,
Elsa briefly shot him a look of anger before the tears started falling freely. "Jane, please don't say that. He just doesn't want you to go down the wrong path. If you really don't like me spending time with Jeremiah, I can leave. I can also give Jack back to you!"
Before I could say anything, Jack immediately panicked.
He quickly turned to Elsa, his voice filled with urgency. "What do you mean 'give me back'? To me, you're the
only sister I have."
