REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON

Chapter 25: Tension of Secrets

Kyle's POV

I thought of how I would escape the two guards again. Iknew distracting them wouldn't work again. They would definitely suspect something. Aria seeing me wasn't part of the plan. I could not afford another person seeing me. They were just wolves, I could outrun them easily.

I just decided to run past them, hopefully they wouldn't see me. Even if they saw me, they wouldn't catch me even if they tried their best.

I ran past them without stopping. When I was far enough I stopped to hear what they were saying.

"What was that?" I heard one of them say.

"I don't know. It's probably the wind." The other one said.

"It's about to rain." Another one said.

It did make sense. It looked like it would rain. So was the best excuse.

I left afterwards to go home. Thinking about what he was up to, I cringed.

I suspected my dad did something to Lyla but I was wrong. I couldn't predict him at all.

I thought I could. I didn't know when he would strike. Lyla needed my help. I didn't care what Aria thought, I wouldn't let my dad harm Lyla. Considering the kind of person he was, he would strike big. This was bad.

I walked inside and saw my dad in the dinning table eating. Normally, I greeted him when I saw him but I didn't need to anymore.

I walked past him making my way to my room. "Kyle," he called out.

I turned around to see what he wanted. I didn't want to talk to him. " Come and join me. Let's eat together." He said more like pleading.

I would be a fool, if I didn't know him by now. "No, thank you. I'm not hungry." I responded and turned to leave.

"Come on, Kyle. Just join me, we've never had a meal together." He said.

He was right. We never ate together. He practically forget we livee in the same house.

Maybe I could figure out what he was planning if I ate with him. I could get something from him. It would not be easy but I could give it a try.

"Fine." I said and walked toward the dinning table.

"Get his food for him." My dad told one of the maids.

I watched him closely to see if I could read him but nothing.

The maid arrived with my meal and dropped it before me. I looked at the food carefully. Maybe his plan was to kill and get me out of his way. I thought to my self. It could be true. "I didn't poison you." My dad stated.

"How do I guarantee that you're saying the truth?" I asked.

"You can't. Just know that if I wanted to kill you, I wouldn't do it in from of them" he said pointing to the maids.

What he said made me think about my mom. What if he did kill her in secret?

"What are you thinking about? I didn't poison it." He assured me.

He didnt look like he poisoned me. He was trying to convince me that he didn't for some reason.

I took a bit out of the food and waited a bit for any side effects. Nothing happened, then I took another.

This was posted good to be true. Having a normal meal with my father was weird.

"What do you want, father?" I asked him.

"What do you mean, son?" He asked.

"Son?" I scoffed. "You made it pretty clear to me that I wasn't your son. So what exactly do you want?" I asked. "What is wrong in having a normal mean with my son?" He asked.

II didn't k now him,I would have believed this crap. He was certainly a good actor.

"Ohhh...jusy cut the crap. Just say what you want to say and lets get this over with."I suggested.

Everything he did was painful but pretending was even worse. He liked playing this sick games. Come on Kyle. I just wanted to talk to you about your life. Like father and son do." Was this man actually serious.

"Remember, Dad. I am an abomination. I'm not your son. So stop with the act. It's getting old."

"Okay, fine. You caught me." He said smiling. "You couldn't just let me have fun."

He finally admitted. I was disappointed, I was happy because I didn't fall for it. That meant I was improving. "You're smarter than you look." He said.

He was really getting on my nerves.

"If you have nothing to say, I'm going to my room." I stated.

I was about to stand up. "You haven't completed the assignment i gave you." The smile disappeared from his face.

"What assignment?" I made it clear I wasn't going to give him information concerning Lyla. So I hoped it was another assignment that I couldn't just remember. "The wolf girl, you idiot!!" He shouted.

I had never seen him loose his cool this way before.

"I told you I'm not doing any of that anymore." I said.

"I didn't give you permission to back out. You know what I'm capable of. Do not provoke me, Kyle." He demanded.

"I don't know what you want me to tell you about her. She's a werewolf like any other wolf here."

I knew she wasn't just a werewolf like everyone else. She wasn't normal at all. I needed to find out about her before my dad does.

She had this aura that was intriguing but I wasn't going to tell my dad about this.

"If this was really true, you would have told me this." He said.

"I told you I wanted nothing to do with this. I am not going to spy on someone for you and get information from her. I am not doing that."

"I told you to not provoke me, kyle."

"I'm not trying to provoke you. But you can think of it as whatever you want. I still stand on my decision, I'm doing nothing for you.Excuse me." I said and stood up from the dinning table and left his sight. He didnt bother calling me back because he knew I was serious.

I walked up to my room.

How was I to find out what Lyla truly was? I asked myself .I thought about asking her but resulted that it wasn't a good idea.

Aria didn't trust me at all so I doubt she would tell me anything.

Something was really weird about Lyla and i needed to find out what it was.
