REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON

Chapter 22: Unmasking Loyalties

Kyle's pov

I still thought about the lady my father sent to spy on me. He knew I wouldn't kill her that's why he sent her instead of his men.

I had the strangest feeling about her from the start. If only meant the he had been watching me for a while and reporting to my father.

She was part of our pack but I had never seen her before. I never really paid attention to women from the start, that might have been the reason why i didn't know she was a member of Rouge pack. I compelled her to tell my father otherwise, meaning my father wouldn't have anything to say to me.

After Lyla left, I headed home as well. I was very tired and I just needed to rest for a while.

When I got home, everywhere was quiet. It was usually quiet but it was strangely quiet. That must be because my dad had nothing to say to me that's why her didn't come outside.

I decided to go to my room. "At least my plan worked. "I muttered.

"Not quite. "I heard someone say. I recognized that voice form anywhere. It was my dad.

He came out with the girl he sent to watch me. At that point I knew something was wrong. Did my plan not work? I asked myself several times.

"Do you see her? "he said pointing to her.

She stood close to him not saying a word. Just staring. I tried to search for any sign which looked like she broke my compulsion. Was that even possible?

I didn't respond to my father's question. "I know you recognize her. You see, this young lady told me a little secret."he said and I knew the jig was up.

I didn't say a word. I had no idea how to react. But I compelled not to say what she saw. How was this possible?

"By the look on your face, you must be wondering how your compulsion didn't work. "he said smiling. His smile was so sinensis.

I tried to look for the right word to say but I knew I had already been caught and there was nothing I could say that could make him believe otherwise.

"Did you really think I stupid? Or I had no idea the kind of abomination I was living with."I felt my heart crumbling.

"Remember I had a hybrid for a wife and I know your weaknesses. "he said.

Vervain. Why didn't I think of that? My good ethics for not killing ladies. Damn... If I killed her, none of this would have transpired.

"I know you're still a little bit confused but Don worry, I don't mind explaining it to you. "he stated. "So, Harley's job here was to keep an eye on you. Before I sent her after you, I gave her vervain to ingest. Meaning that she can't be compelled. I told her to also pretend to be compelled if you tried to compell her."

This man was sick, he went to great extent just to find out what he wanted to know about Lyla. What was so special about her? Why was he feeling threatened? I had never seen him this way.

"I know you didn't expect a woman but I knew you wouldn't kill her so it was a great plan. And I found out something interesting. "he sad.

I didn't know what Hayley must have seen but I hoped she didn't see me training Lyla.

"Hayley here, said you train the little wolf girl. Tell me Kyle, is she telling the truth? "he asked.

I finally spoke. "No. "I denied.

"I knew you were going to deny it from the start, it's not really surprising. We're not father and son where I would have said I believe my son no matter what. That is just bullshit. "He said.

I had wondered for so long how much dad said all these cruel things without hesitation. At times I wondered if his own parents treated him like this.

"if you weren't going to believe me, why did you ask in the first place? "I questioned.

At this point, there was nothing I could do. Lyla needed to be safe. And I needed to find out who Lyla really was.

"I just wanted to hear the lie that would be uttered from your mouth. "he answered.

Hayley stood still. Not saying a word. She didn't look my way either.

"Yes, I'm training her. So what? "I asked.

I was fed up. To think I came home to rest only to be welcomed by questions from an unbearable father.

"So what?!"he shouted. "I asked to watch that girl for me and find out who she is. But you go instead training her. Who do you think you are?!!" he shouted more.

I didnt like as he found about me training Lyla but I enjoyed seeing him angry. After everything he did to me, this was just the start of his troubles.

"I'm Kyle, the hybrid. I met her before you heard of her. Did you really think I went there to watch her for you. Why in the world would I do that?"

I questioned.

"Because I said so. "he answered. His face was evident of his anger.

"Your words mean nothing to me. Did you really think that after ignoring me for years, I would just come running to you when you finally called me. To think you called me for another reason"I scoffed.

"If you think I have the slightest respect for you, I advise you wake up from that dream of yours."

Lyla was right. I shouldn't give a shit about him. He doesn't care about me, so why should I?

"Kyle... "he tried to say but I interrupted him.

"The girl you're trying to keep an eye on is my friend. If anything happens to her. You won't like what I would do? "I said coldly.

"Are you threatening me?" he asked.

"Think of it as whatever you want. All I know is if anything happens to her. I am not going to have mercy. "I said.

He laughed. "You are starting to show your true colour. "he said.

"You made sure of it, didn't you. Just one more thing I have to remind you of. You're a werewolf and I am a hybrid. I could kill you without having any problem. I still consider you a father that's why I am letting you live. Don't get on my bad side."I said and left.

I saw my dad expression changed. He never knew I could stand up against him and neither did I.
